VILLINO FLAMINIO (apartment)

Home description

VILLINO is a romantic , pretty cottage for a couple, for a couple + 1 or 2 friends (1big bed + 2 single beds) or a family with 1 or 2 children. You'll enjoy staying at our VILLINO after a whole day' strolling in Rome, visiting museums or monuments. Free Internet access, TV-SAT, etc.. Location is very well linked to Rome. Buses stop at 100 mts, so you do not need a car. Drugstore at 100 mts, just opposite the bus stop. And you could be offered a free dinner upon your arrival, if it is too late for the restaurant.... Breakfast at very reasonable prices, on demand.

The Lazio region

Our house is located in a Park area, VEIO PARK : Veio was an etruscan town, conquered by romans . You can visit - besides Rome - many places of interest in the area, i.e. Calcata, Sacrofano. But of course you'll have at hand Rome and its monuments: Coliseum, Fori Imperiali, etc., Vatican museums, with the famous Sistine Chapel, or St.Peter's square, with its huge church where the Pope every sunday blesses the crowd... Visit the famous Trevi Fountain and throw a coin in it, or have a walk in one of the most beautiful squares in the world, Piazza NAVONA, an old stadium under the Roman Empire. Or just sit on stairs of Piazza di Spagna, Trinita' dei Monti, walk in Villa Borghese, and so on... You can reach the beach in half an hour (Fregene, etc..) or have a swim into the lakes...At the end, relax in our cottage, or sunbathe in our garden during the summer....

Rome / Montecaminetto area

Sacrofano montecaminetto is a tiny, delicious suburb north of Rome, very well linked to the capital: you can reach ROME downtown in 20 minutes by train, to PIAZZALE FLAMINIO. From there, you can walk anywhere. Piazza di Spagna is only 5 minutes' walk. Other connexions - to Colosseo for ex. - are just there: underground line "a" is just opposite the station.
Typical restaurants and "trattoria" in Rome: a list of places guaranteed by the owner , that you'll be given once you'll be here...! Typical restaurants in Sacrofano (medieval style).

How to get there

Very easy to reach, by plane, by train or by car, as it is just at few kms from the motorway.
PLANE: From Fiumicino or Ciampino airport you have a direct line arriving at few kms from house (at Settebagni station) and the owner can pick you up there. Transfer fee: 10 euros. From Fiumicino, you have also plenty of trains or buses going to the centre, at scheduled times. .
TRAIN: From central train station - TERMINI - you'll take 2 lines: the first, the subway - line A - from TERMINI to Flaminio, the second train - Rome Northern Line - from Flaminio to MONTEBELLO (or Sacrofano).
CAR: From the motorway, follow the signals up to G.R.A. - the long road around all Rome - and take exit n.6 (FLAMINIA).

It is the dependance of our small villa, so you are independent but not isolated. It is a cosy cottage at the Roman countryside, very typical, only 9 kms from Rome. Wooden ceiling in all rooms. The house is surrounded by a garden, shared in common. On the left, there is guests' house. On the right, there is owner's house.
Bedroom with a big bed for 2, + one living room with kitchen corner and a new double sofa. 5th bed and 1 cot for children available. Fireplace, satellite tv and wide bathroom with toilet, shower and washing machine. Free Internet access. Outside space with table and chairs in the garden, under a bower.. Free wood for fireplace, in winter. Air-conditioned , in summer. Italian Breakfast available, in the garden June- September (7 euros x 2 pax) - on request.

Further details outdoors:
Garage under the house. Park area : Parco di Veio (Veio was en etruscan town) . Archaelogical sites. At 7 kms, visit the village of Sacrofano, with a small medieval centre. Or, at 30 kms, the wonderful village of Calcata (read NEW YORK TIMES, january 2007, "TRAVEL" section ) .
At 30-35 kms (less than half a hour), Bracciano lake (castle). If you prefer the seaside, have a swim at Fregene beach. Or - if you want go further - Santa Severa beach (45 minutes from home) with a wonderful castle on the beach...
On tuesday and saturday, street market at Prima Porta, 5 minutes from home. On sunday, big market in Porta Portese (near Rome Trastevere)..

Garden shared with the owners.
Prices include: gaz, water, electricity, towels, bed linen, air conditioning, final cleaning. Dinner offered , in case of late arrival (after 19.30, but before 24.00 please!).

Conditions

Pets - dogs - are welcomed: we have a boxer, very friendly.
No pitbull - rottweiler - dobermann, sorry.
