Tanner's cottage is a traditional one bedroom 18th century cottage being built in 1755. The cottage is situated on the outskirts of the market town of Cockermouth, making its position convenient for either the vibrant town centre or alternatively open countryside (5 minute walk in either direction). The Kirkgate Arts Centre (300m) and the market place in Cockermouth are closest to the cottage(500m) where weekly cinema/live music and drama together with a variety of restaurants,take-a ways and pubs are respectively located .

The cottage has been renovated in recent years for modern living. eg the bathroom has a separate shower cubicle and a spa bath which is appreciated especially by walkers and cyclists. Externally there is an enclosed south facing garden to the rear of the cottage, with a covered patio area close to the back entrance of the cottage, with patio table, chairs, and BBQ. At the rear of the garden there is a secure bicycle shed and a summer house which is open between the months of May and September, and which is sometimes used as a reading room. To the front of the cottage there is a parking space for 1 vehicle.

Cockermouth is situated on the north west border of the Lake District National Park, making it an ideal centre for exploring the spectacular lakeland scenery. The town is characterised by the wide variety of independent shops, pubs, restaurants and numerous cafes. Wordsworth House(birthplace of William Wordsworth and Jennings Brewery are centrally located in the town.

For walkers and cyclists, the lakes of Ennerdale water, Loweswater, Crummock, Buttermere, Wastwater, Derwent water and Bassenthwaite are all within easy reach of Tanner's Cottage. A small cottage full of history and character. The host was accommodating, and on arrival i was greeted by fresh, milk, plenty of tea/coffee and a hot cross bun!
