“'Fantastic'” We have just returned from a fabulous stay at this fantastic lodge , it had everything you needed and is situated in a peaceful position on a great site , I was amazed at how spotless clean it was and the owners are more than happy to meet and greet you at their lodge. We were very lucky to have amazing weather and clear nights for our stargazing on the deck , the lodge is excellently situated for this due to the outlook from where it's positioned. Thanks again for our brilliant 4 night break , we would love to return sometime.

“Perfection is a fickle creature.” We always look for somewhere within walking distance of town and Greenside is just about perfect (5 minutes walk). The cottage is a two-up, two-down (with attached "outhouse" with loo and washing machine) so in comparison to our home is "bijoux" shall we say. However, with bijoux comes cosy and luckily we don't have a cat lol. Christine has thought of almost everything one could ever want and need; so full-marks there. The road gives a bit of noise during bed-time but it shouldn't be a problem if you're used to light traffic. The lakes are on your doorstep so we had a lovely four day break. We recommend Rydal Hall, Rydal water (caves included), Skelwith Bridge Elterwater, The Tarns (Tarn Hows) for leisurely walking and I went to Blea Tarn and Wast Water - not for the faint hearted regarding the drive over Wrynose and Hard Knott passes but well worth the angst for the scenery. In summary, the cottage is ideal for a home-from-home stay, very clean and Christine provides welcoming touches too - 9/10! We would stay again and recommend it to couples.

“An ideal base for exploring the Lake District - with wonderfully engaging hosts!” Just got back from our week in the Lake District staying at the Wythburn and just had to add our own further endorsement to the many good reviews which persuaded us to book the Wythburn Apartment in the first place... it was exactly what we had hoped for, and more. Not only did we find it the perfect base to explore Ambleside and the local Windermere area on foot, and much of the rest of the Lake District area by car, but we found everything available that a couple on a rambling break could need. Masses of useful books and guides were provided, and as many have noted David and Mike were the perfect hosts in adding further insights and advice on where best to go - as well as right from the start making us feel so welcome and offering help wherever they could. Nobody should be expecting a 5-star hotel when they come - but for those who just want good value-for-money facilities, a fantastically ideal location to strike out from, and the bonus of warm and friendly owners on hand then this is 5-star for us.

“Cosy cottage” The cottage was well positioned to get to local attractions and the beach. Allenby and Wigton were nice places to visit. Silloth was a lovely place and the locals were very welcoming. The Golf Hotel served great food at reasonable prices and the staff were very helpful recommending Christinea local taxi driver who picked us up on New Years eve and only charged us £4.00 to take us back to the cottage. We had a very restful 4 days away.

“Wonderful Weekend” My husband and I were invited by a friend to Southwaite Green to celebrate their Silver Wedding Anniversary. Beckside is just lovely with everything you would want, added to that the green ethos of the whole project made our stay even more enjoyable, knowing that this place lies very gently on the earth and contributes to the growing awareness of what our actions are doing to our planet. I could have stayed much longer and explored the walks, fells and lovely villages and towns around. I know I will be back.

“Everything you could want and a whole lot more.” This cottage has everything you could want and a whole lot more. A real home from home, spotless, tastefully furnished, very comfortable bed and lots of lovely extra special touches that sets it apart from the ordinary everyday holiday rental. The views from the cottage are breathtaking and the location is second to none,, add to all this you have a private garden back and front, what more could you ask?
