The apartment is situated on the ground floor and with easy access to all the splendid facilities of The Old Village, it is ideal for the less mobile or young families. It has been completely refurbished to a high standard and has air-conditioning for the summer months and a log burning stove for cosy winter use. The garden and terrace is south facing.
The Old Village architecture is based on the 18th Century classical buildings of southern Portugal with 2 and 3 storey houses and apartments, painted in traditional pastel colours, in a lovely garden setting. The complex is pedestrianised, with calcader paved walkways leading to the 3 swimming pools, children's play area, the supermarket and the various bars and restaurants. There is the re-assurance of 24 hour security. Our agent is on-site should you wish to book car hire, coach trips or other activities. For keen golfers there are superb golf courses close by, with the Pinhal Course surrounding the complex.

The Algarve region

Central Algarve has a variety of towns and villages along the coast, and inland, and all are worth exploring either by hire car, taxi or public transport, which is reasonably priced. The County town of Loule, in the hills, is steeped in history and has a good Saturday Market.
Closer to Vilamoura is the fishing town of Quarteira with daily fish, vegetable and fruit markets and a large weekly craft market. This also has a very long promenade and beautiful beach, with a good selection of bars and restaurants either facing the sea or in the quaint side streets. Further afield is the historic old town of Silves, once the Capitol of the region, with a hill top Castle to explore. To the West, in the hills, is the village of Monchique, the highest point in the Algarve, with it 's many handicraft shops selling the famous pottery, lace and basketwork. For those interested in architecture, a visit to the old part of Faro is a must. There are many walks and unspoilt beaches to explore all along the coast with beach cafes serving simple meals, grilled sardines, chicken piripiri and delicious fresh fish at very reasonable prices. For a special treat try the famous Algarve speciality of suckling Pig.
For keen golfers there are many wonderful golf courses in the area, too numerous to mention here, which all have their own websites for you to browse. There is lots to see and do for all the family in this part of the Algarve and the climate is usually sunny and dry for most of the year.

Vilamoura

The Old Village in Vilamoura is a beautiful, traffic free, residential development built on a hill, surrounded by the Pinhal Golf Course and overlooking the private resort of Vilamoura. The architecture is based on the 18th Century classical buildings of Southern Portugal and the two and three storey houses and apartments are in a lovely, well maintained, garden setting. There are three swimming pools, a children's play area, a supermarket, cafes, bars and restaurants. The Old Village has 24 hour security patrols and CCTV cameras for extra peace of mind.
Vilamoura itself has all the amenities of the best resorts in Europe with numerous golf courses. tennis courts, horse riding, rifle shooting and a bowling green. The Marina, a 15 minute walk away, has a wide variety of bars and restaurants and an abundance of shops. There are motor and sail boats for hire, deep sea fishing trips and a selection of pleasure cruises to enjoy. There are 2 golden beaches, Marina beach and the magnificent EEC Blue Flag Falesia beach, which stretches all the way to Albufeira. In all but the low season a Road Train provides regular transport from the village to Vilamoura and Falesia Beach for a small charge. Nearby is a large Aquapark which provides fun for all the family, as does the famous Zoo Marine, both of which are accessible by regular coach trips for those visitors without a car.
