The Devon region
Devon is in the South west of England and is the 4th largest of the English counties and has a population of just over a million people. The county town is the beautiful cathedral city of Exeter, the other 2 major areas are the port city of Plymouth and Torbay, a conurbation of seaside resorts. Plymouth is also the largest city in Devon. Much of the county is rural (including national park) land, with a low population density by British standards. It contains Dartmoor 954 km2 (368 square miles), the largest open space in southern England.
Devon has a mild climate and the county receives generally warm summers compared to the rest of the United Kingdom, due to its southerly location.
There are a wealth of things to do in the county, too many to even begin to mention, but you can go to www.visitdevon.co.uk for more information.
There is a small general store/post office, just a 1-minute walk from the apartments, in the village of Stoke Fleming, and an excellent village pub, the Green Dragon, which serves good food, and also has outside area, and is child friendly. There is also a fish restaurant which does takeaway fish and chips and a hairdressers in the village.
Dartmouth is only 5 minutes by car – the Jewel of the South Hams. Ancient narrow streets house boutique shops, art galleries and delicatessens. A cobbled market place features colourful stalls and Farmers markets supplying local produce – used by our gourmet restaurants, pubs and cafes. The restaurants really are outstanding with so many to choose from, you are spoilt for choice.
Sail, fish, explore by boat or come at festival time. Take the steam train ride to Paignton for a treat or enjoy visits to the Castle, Britannia Royal Naval College and National Trust Gardens. Walk the South West Coast Path or laze on the clean beaches. There is a wealth of things to do in the area.
There are a number of fesitvals that take place in Dartmouth throughout the year. Dartmouth Comedy Festival 9-12 March 2011, Dart Music Festival 6-8 May 2011, Galleries Week 27 May-3 June 2011, Shakespeare Festival 6-8 August 2011, Dartmouth Regatta 25-27 August 2011, Agatha Christie Week 11-18 September 2011, South Devon Walking Festival 23-26 September 2011, Dartmouth Fishing Festival 1-2 October, Dartmouth Dartmouth Galleries Week 14-21 October 2011, Dartmouth Food Festival 21-23 October 2011, Dart Drama Festival 9-12 November 2011 and Candlelit Dartmouth 2-4 December 2011.

"Well equipped,comfortable and spacious."
Lovely village with Blackpool Sands in walking distance. Well worth the effort to get there.Dartmouth was fabulous. Much prefer being south of the river having stayed in Paignton last year.

"Everything you need and more in a great location"
My husband and I took our daughter (9 months) here for her first holiday in July. The apartment was absolutely spotless and so well equipped, our daughter loved the toys!! It is also in a wonderful location, literally just a minutes drive to Blackpool Sands and a five minute drive to Dartmouth. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and hope we can visit again soon!

Great apartment with really nice touches throughout by the lovely Emma. Really close to the beach and Dartmouth which are both great. A good place to stay to see all of South Hams.

"Modern, clean, well equipped home from home."
Very good communication with owners to make sure we were greeted on arrival. Complimentary basics provided and much appreciated! The place itself was modern, well decorated, clean and well equipped throughout. Even evening/rainy day entertainment in the form of DVD's, videos and a wii. A lovely place to stay, central for exploring the area.

"Where historic Devon meets the majestic sea..."
My boyfriend and I arrived at Waves late on a Friday on a weekend respite from London in February..and were warmly greeted by our lovely host, Emma, and shown around and made to feel at home. We felt instantly settled and that we had all we needed to get us through the weekend(the place is chalk full of any utensil, appliance, local info, game, movie that you could ever need, rain or shine!). We had a restful, comfortable sleep. Having been to Devon before, I was aware of how lovely it is..but was completely taken aback with the view that awaited us from the sea facing windows of Waves in the morning. It was stunning. We were about a five minute walk to the sea..and had a charming old church and cemetery to stroll through directly behind the property. We were thoroughly impressed with the location..amenities and idyllic location of Waves..and will most certainly be back. Top marks! Tim and Jenna, London

"luxury in a fab location"
This is the second time we've stayed in this complex with Emma and Julie always so helpful. Nothing too much trouble and the apartment is totally luxurious. Fab location in quiet Stoke Fleming, close to the wonderful Blackpool Sands beach - you have to pay to park (£4) but totally worth it!! The Green Dragon is also worth a visit with great beer and a small play area for the kids. Sharpham Vinyard a must for walkers and wine lovers - although we didn't stay for lunch the food looked wonderful. Dartmouth of course very close with good crabbing, pasties and shops. A good time was had by all - see you next year!!

"Perfect location with fantastic beaches and wonderful accomodation"
We stayed at Waves in Stoke Fleming last year and will be returning again in August 2011. Waves is perfect. Our two childern had a great time, as well as the beach they loved the bunk beds and the little touches, books, dvds and puzzles for them to play with. The accomodation has everything you need and more. It is modern, clean and has a fantastic balcony to relax after a day at the beach. Its a perfect location and a great accomodation.
