P.S. We are in our third year with Holiday Lettings and have some fantastic reviews so far. Added to that, our in-house visitors' book is full of positive encouraging comments. Reassuring to browse.

Added to all of that, here is a traveler's review of her recent visit to the vicinity:

"Have you ever longed for the bygone age of British seaside holidays? Ever yearned for genuinely friendly people, fair prices, family fun and delicious, no-nonsense British fare? Well, I've found just the place ... Paignton. I arrived by train at the station, bang in the middle of town. Just a three minute walk down took me to the sea front - and what a sea front - an endless vista of blue, punctuated by fishing boats, sailboats, children happily splashing away and, in the distance, the majestic Thatcher Rock.

'Something for everyone' can be a cliche but in Paignton you'll find that it's true. Young couples stroll past elderly folk having an ice cream. Kiddies splash and giggle while parents bask in the sun.

"I took the choo choo train along the coast down to Kingswear. It set off with a huge plume of steam puffing into the air. Little boys and dads went misty eyed. After passing through a couple of tunnels, I was met by a vast shimmering sea, along with snatches of secret rocky coves - a magical way to see Tor Bay. The views are breathtaking. At Kingswear you can take a tour on a paddle steamer or cross by ferry to Dartmouth.

"When it was time to leave Paignton, I felt a wistful yearning for traditional seaside holidays past. As I boarded the train home, I overheard a passenger tell his toddler that he'd holidayed there as a child. Did he, like me, yearn for days gone by - you know I think we all do. Catching a glimpse of the glittering sea and Paignton's pier, I realised there was no need to be wistful. Traditional British fun, a genuine warm welcome, and charm by the bucket load, is still alive and well on this Devon coast."

Location description from owner

The English Riviera region

The lively seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay and the quieter fishing village of Brixham are within the Torbay district of the English Riviera, more commonly grouped as The Bay because they form a horseshoe coastline. Famed for its 22 miles of unspoilt shore, the region is home to over twenty beaches ranging from long sandy stretches to secluded rocky coves. Whether you seek a sun bleached spot or an area to build sandcastles, go rock-pooling or take a paddle, you are sure to find a beach to suit. Inland, you've got Dartmoor and picturesque villages with localised inns and pleasant walks. Public transport is hugely reliant to just about anywhere you want to go. Enjoy! .

Paignton

BUCKETS (AND SPADES) OF FUN

Lively Paignton offers the perfect blend of traditional seaside thrills and spills with a clean safe beach and is appealing to day trippers with lots of exciting things to do including a geoplay park, the new Parkfield activity centre where there's an indoor climbing wall, a BMX track and a skate park. Neighbouring Torquay with its iconic palm trees is the vibrant cosmopolitan heart of the English Rivera and has a buzzing shopping area that reaches on and on. Local Brixham is a quaint historical fishing port with just a handful of shops and a walk up to Berry Head's national nature reserve is a must for views from the cliffs. Tucked in between is little Goodrington, within walking distance from Paignton harbour, which boasts the UK's largest outdoor waterpark and where the rocky coastline can be explored - great for adults as well as youngsters. Just beyond Torquay is the great Babbacombe Bay. It's town has an olde worlde charm with a modern twist, housing a pretty shopping precinct, cafes and restaurants. The area of Babbacombe Downs has the highest cliff top promenade in England, with magnificent uninterrupted views down to the coastline and seashore. The cliff railway chair will take you down down down to the beach or you can meander to it on the zig zag walkway.

“A well loved and respected apatment”

Reviewed 3 Jul 2016

A fantastic apartment in a beautiful place and perfectly positioned. I loved the fact the owner has kept the customer in mind and left the garden partly lawned and has a hedge surround rather than all paved and fencing for her own convenience. A lovely little tranquil space. It becomes obvious from the moment you arrive that this apartment is aimed with the customer in mind, well done! Debbie, the apartment manager, was a real star reassuring and helping in any way she could.

Owner's reply: Well now, that's so good to hear. Yes, we too appreciate nature's green feel and it only takes a bit of time and effort to maintain the hedge and lawn, for the pleasure of all who stay there. It sounds that the on-call manager, so eager to assist guests, is a key part of feeling secure when away from home.
