The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region
The historic town of Kalkan, once Greek Kalamaki, is an enchanting place and one of the most beautiful locations along Turkey's Mediterranean Coast. With a complete absence of mass tourism, Kalkan remains a charming and unspoiled haven, brilliant blue crystal-clear sea, ancient architecture, fascinating history and warm traditional Turkish hospitality.
Once a simple fishing village, today Kalkan is quietly sophisticated and postcard pretty with a few good quality low-rise hotels and apartments and a multitude of excellent roof-top restaurants offering all manner of culinary delights together with stylish and atmospheric Blues and Jazz bars. The village shops stay open till around midnight and are well stocked with interesting antiques, crafts, jewellery, clothing and accessories. The narrow streets twist down to the harbour, which is the focus of the town and here you can enjoy a meal whilst watching the world go by or looking at the array of elegant gullets and yachts. Kalkan has a reputation for excellent cuisine and a meal out will not disappoint. A day at sea is a must for the ultimate relaxation.
Other Activities: wonderful boat trips from the harbour and there is a diving school in Kalkan. Local tour firms offer trips to many interesting places.
Kalkan is part of Lycia, literally land of light, which is a very apt description as the light is beautiful, glowing sunshine above crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean sea. It really is a holidaymakers paradise, offering everything from beaches to watersports to off the beaten track exploration. You may even see a wild boar (we did, complete with piglets!) and certainly you will see tortoises both little to large.
Ski: High above Fetiye is a brand new ski resort.

"Superb villa in lovely part of Kalkan"
We have had a superb week at Villa Amare in the loveliest part if Kalkan . The villa is wonderful . Very spacious with everything one needs for a relaxing family hols . The various outside areas work very well with a large group . It is located 5 mins walk from kalkan beach club and the mahal beach club which are both ideal for water sports , swimming etc . Tamar manages the villa an could not have been more helpful arranging anything we needed . A great bonus . Fresh bread delivered each morning . We would not hesitate in recommending this villa in a lovely part of kalkan .

"Wonderful villa, beautiful view"
We had a wonderful week in Villa Amare - the villa is so comfortable and has stunning views over the bay below. It is a 5 minute walk down the hill to the sea. All of the rooms were really spacious with en suite bathrooms and balconies. It was lovely to have the little pool all to ourselves as well and ample sun loungers for everyone to be assured of a tan… The seating area for dinners in the evening is great - it comfortably sat all 9 of us, and all of the colourful flowers around the villa make it seem even more beautiful. Amanda was so kind before the holiday when she organised via Tamer, their lovely and extremely knowledgeable manager, for a case of wine to be waiting when we arrived for my hosts. I would certainly recommend the Villa to anyone thinking of going to Kalkan with a large group, we had such a relaxing, fun and comfortable holiday.

"Immaculate villa with beautiful views in a fascinating part of Turkey"
We took a mixed-age family party to the Villa Amare for a week in early July and were absolutely delighted with it. The villa is spotlessly clean and well maintained; all the rooms are spacious and have lovely views, and there are plenty of different outside places to sit and read or sunbathe, including a very nice shady terrace covered with wonderful bougainvillea. The location was extremely peaceful and quiet, yet it was easy to get into Kalkan to the many rooftop restaurants. The team managing the villa were really friendly and efficient: they were happy to meet us and settle us in after a late evening arrival, and one of them brought us fresh bread for breakfast every morning. The sea (5 mins walk down from the house) was incredibly clean and clear and there are lots of interesting places to visit nearby. We had a really lovely holiday - many thanks to all concerned.

"Exceeded expectations for a homely large family group holiday base"
We were blessed with wonderful calm hot sunny weather through our stay & the villa exceeded our high expectations in providing us with a homely base in Kisla with excellent cool a/c when we needed it for comfort with our parents who are three elderly couples we had with us. 5 double/twin rooms all with en-suites are not common in the area & we felt very lucky with our choice of building, ameneties throughout, the super relaxing area around the pool & the proximity to the beach club at the bottom of the road. Sun lounges for everyone were good & the two nice shady areas were appreciated by the oldies. Daily deliveries of fresh bread were much appreciated. Bob's local shop proved useful at times & we dined at the Fidanka 2 mins up the hill & enjoyed the local fayre. Lots of friendly taxi cabs proved easy to book & al the locals were so helpful & hospitable throughout our stay.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, we were delighted that you were so pleased with our Villa Amare as the setting for your lovely wedding. We wish you all the best for the future and hope to be able to welcome you back at some point in the future. kindest wishes Graham and Amanda

"Beautiful Villa Amare, fantastic holiday"
Villa Amare is a splendid villa set on a bank with fabulous views across the bay. The villa provides full facilities and is tastefully furnished with lovely, comfortable and airy rooms. Outside there are varied places to laze and relax as well as a pool to enjoy and a BBQ area which catches the last rays of the day. Nearby there are several good bars and restaurants within walking distance and the local beach club offers a ferry boat service across the bay to Kalkan. A visit here is a must as at night as it offers a relaxed holiday feel with its cobbled streets and rooftop and waterside bars and restaurants. We will definitely be booking again to go to Villa Amare.

"Lovely villa, perfect holiday"
We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Amare, the Villa was clean, spacious, and well appointed to our needs. Everything we needed was in the Villa and it was lovely to see Mandys personal touch through out (The photographs were beautiful) Hassan looked after us everyday, bring in bread daily was a lovely touch. We would recommend the Villa to all our friends and look forward to staying there again. The view from the Villa was beautiful and it was well appointed so that you only had to walk a few minutes to reach the sea for a swim or a ride into Kalkan on the local boat service. Thankyou Graham and Mandy for a lovely holiday x
Thank you so much for your review, it is much appreciated and we hope to welcome you back in the future. We work hard to exceed our guests' expectations and reviews are important to us.

We had wonderful time and your villa was just perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace, comfort and views. Everybody was so helpful, and we could easily have stayed longer. One day we went on a boat trip (on Whisper - definitely recommended - well looked after and great laugh) and we also went sea-kayaking at Kakova (great fun). Lazy days at the villa were spent chilling out and we walked down to the sea for good long swims. We had some lovely meals out in Kalkan (would recommend the Gironda and the Olive Garden) and frequented the Fidanka (just up the road) a few times - fabulous. All in all, we have had a super time, and we thank you for all your help and kindness.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, it is very much appreciated... hope to see you again sometime soon ..... Amanda and Graham

"Beautiful and well appointed property overlooking azure seas"
We have stayed at Villa Amare twice now with my husband and two children (2 and 4), and various extended family members. The villa is lovely and spacious so privacy is no problem. There are numerous places to relax – whether on your own balcony or by the pool. A lovely long outside table makes for enjoyable evening barbecues in. For eating out Kisla itself has a couple of lovely places to eat and drink, but nearby Kalkan has anything you could want, from lively bars to intimate dining for two. The views of Kalkan bay greet you every morning and a trip out on a Gulet is a must. Numerous beautiful places to visit nearby too. Villa Highlights: Bread delivered daily, Comfy bedrooms, Spacious, Holiday book shelf! Close to the beach. We are planning on going again! It's lovely.
