Description from owner
The boathouse is located right on the water's edge with all the wildlife and rivercraft going past right in front of you. You can sit and watch paddle boards, kayaks and waterskiers, followed a little later by the ducks, swans and egrets from the comfort of your sofa. The boathouse offers amazing views of the Estuary and surrounding countryside up to Haytor on Dartmoor from every room. There is a waterfront patio too for outdoor dining and living, or you can head for the nearest bar/restaurant which is only 300 metres along the foreshore. If you like walking or cycling there are fantastic routes all around you and you can indulge in any kind of watersports right from your doorstep.
The peace and quiet make it a perfect spot to read, write, paint, play music or just look at the spectacular views and natural wildlife on the river. An idyllic holiday location for two people.
The Boathouse has an open plan sitting/kitchen/dining area on the ground floor with two comfortable sofas, wall mounted flat screen smart internet TV, free wi-fi and internet, and french doors out to the patio. The master bedroom on the first floor has a juliet balcony with french doors opening directly facing the river and fantastic views from velux windows on both sides. The memory foam king size bed has a built-in central bed console with bookshelves, overhead light control, chandelier and flexible LED reading lights. There is a flat screen TV in the bedroom as well. The property is fitted throughout with low voltage down lighting.
Outdoors there is a paved patio with comfortable rattan table and chairs offering al fresco living and dining right next to the waterfront. Behind the property there is a wood fired hot tub (additional charge applies) it also has a great view of the river
If you don't want to cook, Coombe Cellars bar and restaurant is just two minute's walk away, right on the river's edge, offering delicious food and drink all day long. Newly refurbished interior and al fresco dining outside on the lush terraces.
For watersports enthusiasts you can launch a boat from your own private driveway, offering doorstep access to the Estuary for paddle boarding, kayaking, rowing, canoeing, sailing and fishing . An outdoor hot shower is provided to wash off wetsuits.
If you prefer walking and cycling there are numerous options in the surrounding fields and countryside and along the shores of the Estuary. The famous Templer Way passes the boathouse on its way from Haytor on Dartmoor to Teignmouth, a walk of some 18 miles. Best advice is to get a lift to Haytor and then walk back. (Just enquire with owners)
For Golfers, the nearest 18 hole course is located at Teignmouth approx. 3 miles away offering wonderful views of the Estuary and the sea.
Tidelands Boathouse is located in the village of Combeinteignhead, which has a local pub in the centre, the Wild Goose, and Coombe Cellars bar and restaurant on the river, just along the beach from the boat house. There are a variety of coastal beaches within 5-10 minutes drive, the nearest being the lovely, sandy beach at Shaldon, a 2 minute drive away.

The accommodation was absolutely perfect,with every little detail considered. The location and views were stunning with many different birds arriving throughout the day to feed (there was even a bird book in the cupboard to help identify the different species). Would go back again and definitely recommend to friends and family. Thanks Bev,Dave and Matt for a wonderful and relaxing stay.

“Amazing Place a true getaway!”
Tidelands boathouse is a fantastic location right on the water and the house is beautiful and has everything you could need catered for. Waking up to the sound of the birds and the water was idyllic and having morning coffee on the terrace watching the sail boats is a view I will miss! The Combe Cellars pub is just a short walk away (you can see it from the house) and it's a perfect location for Shaldon and Teignmouth and a 50 min drive to Salcombe makes it a great base to visit other parts of Devon. A perfect getaway to relax and switch off! Cant wait to return!

“Beautiful Riverside Location”
This is a great area of the country, plenty to do and loads of beautiful walks all around. The cottage itself was very peaceful, it was amazing to wake up and look out over the river each morning.

“Tidelands Boathouse meets all expectations and more!!”
The Boathouse is situated in the most beautiful location. I was looking to escape the "Rat Race" and this was the ideal location. The tranquility allowed me to unwind and relax completely. I would highly recommend this property if you are happy with peace, quiet, wildlife and an ever changing view as the tidal river dictates. Thank you Liz......a wonderful stay and I'm sure I will be back.
“Excellent accomodation in a peaceful setting”
We stayed at Tidelands for a short break, Liz was there to meet us when we arrived and showed us around the accommodation. The boathouse was excellent, very clean and with all the little extras that sometimes get missed. The setting was so peaceful and relaxing which is what we hoped for and were not disappointed, We would definitely come back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.
“The perfect location for sailing”
Within minutes of arriving at the boathouse we realised that we had made the right choice. The location was beautiful and ideally situated for ease of access and yet providing a quiet rural location. The owner could not have been more helpful and the property itself was stunning with all the amenities you could wish for. We chose this rental initially because of it's proximity to the estuary allowing us to sail our boat directly from the private gated access. We were not disappointed and we were able to sail every day. This really is an ideal location for dinghy sailing. With two good local pubs within walking distance we cannot see how this could be improved upon. In fact we were so impressed we booked another week whilst still there. Highly recommended.

Just got back from 2 relaxing days in the boathouse. The position on the waters edge is stunning and the property is warm, comfortable and fitted out beautifully. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here.

we had the most wonderful relaxing two day break , didn,t want to leave ! The views are gorgeous the property is well equipped and and the furnishings are of a high standard as is the the property itself We cannot wait for our next break during the xmas hols where we are staying for three w wonderful nights Liz was so welcoming and friendly and just left us to enjoy our time there

If Beverley (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
