“Brilliant”

Reviewed 24 Nov 2017

Everything was just perfect, can’t wait to go back .lovley walks, then home to a cosy log fire. Beds are comfortable underfloor heating was brilliant. Break was superb.

Owner's reply: Hello - we are so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you will wish to stay with us again in the future. Kind Regards Charles

“Excellent”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2017

We booked very last minute and were accommodated with less than a days notice with a very easy booking process and excellent communication. The cottage is well located, and was beautiful inside. The cottage has everything a family will need for a weeks holiday and great access to the village facilities and the fun of the forest. I have already recommended this cottage to my friends. If you want a fabulous cottage, great location and you love walking and cycling this is the place for you. Thank you again

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for your lovely comments - we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Regards Charles

“Neat and tidy home for two for two weeks sightseeing..........”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2017

Excellent location. 30 mins drive from Stirling and easy links to Glasgow (we went by train from Alexandria park and ride and to Edinburgh (we went by train from Stirling but found the timings a bit restrictive and so the second time used Inglston park and ride which was a longer drive but much more flexible in tram journeys. Lots of other sites local to the accommodation and we particularly enjoyed the boat trip across to Inchmahome Priory a few miles out of Aberfoyle on the Stirling road. Also, my wife is a big 'Outlander' fan and there were lots of sites used for filming in easy reach and, for Monty Python fans Doune Castle is a must (home of the French knights and also in a different scene Zoot and her many friends) Cottage itself was clean and newly refurbished (last year). Facilities were fine and as expected but beware that the freezer advertised is actually the icebox in the fridge. Not an issue for most so long as you are aware in advance (we checked with the owner) but might be for some. We were there for two weeks and did cook 'at home' most nights. As that was the only minor quibble I could think of I had to give the cottage a '5 star' rating.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review. I've amended our details to remove the freezer from the facilities. Your feedback was extremely useful. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes, Charles

“GREAT PET FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATION”

Reviewed 29 Dec 2016

Just like to say what a lovely cottage the added Christmas decorations made it feel just like home (wish it was our home). The Wood Burner was great and we could not believe how hot the radiator in the bedroom was it was so cosy.Loved the sofa and all the furnishings it was just as we would have picked, it was nice to have proper hangers in the wardrobe and not the plastic ones you usually find in holiday lets. Our only complaint would be the fridge it was a bit small and there was no freezer, ditch the dishwasher and put in a small freezer instead. Our dogs loved lying in front of the fire and running around in the garden however because of the weather they did not get to enjoy it enough if only it had snowed it would have been perfect. Thanks for the the milk and biscuits it really was appreciated. We hope to be back soon.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your positive review. I'm delighted that you enjoyed your stay and I appreciate your constructive comments about the fridge. Regards Charles .

“Fantastic accommodation!”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2016

Lovely accommodation excellently situated on the way out of the village of Aberfoyle but perfect walking distance to the shop and pub/hotel. The owner has clearly put thought and care into the decoration and furnishings in the cottage - the underfloor heating was wonderful! The box of shortbread and fresh milk left in the fridge were lovely gestures and the kitchen was very well equipped. We had a lovely stay in the Trossachs and Hillcrest was a perfect base for us. My only disappointment was that the weather was too warm for us to make use of the wood burning stove! I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Trossachs area.

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. You'd be most welcome to return when the weather is colder so you can enjoy the wood burning stove :)
