This beautiful 3-floor cottage has been newly refurbished and boasts all the modern amenities you would expect from a luxury property.

Large entrance hallway leading to a large comfortable lounge (with original floorboards) and large fully fitted well equipped dining kitchen with French doors to rear patio. Cloakroom and utility room with downstairs toilet. An open staircase leads to the first floor which houses three bedrooms, two with a double bed and one with twin beds. There is a family bathroom with bath, shower, bidet, toilet and washbasin. Two bedrooms have an en-suite shower room with shower or jacuzzi bath, toilet and washbasin. Stairs from the first floor lead to the upper floor which has a Velux window, twin beds. en-suite bathroom withjacuzzi bath, toilet and washbasin. The first and second floors boast oak style laminated floors while the dining room is fitted with slate tiles.

There is a front garden with 2 parking spaces and wooden patio furniture (further parking is normally available on the road side). There is also a small patio at the rear with further patio furniture.

The Lake District

The lake district national park is the largest national park in England and Wales. It covers over 884 square miles and contains more than 1800 miles of footpaths. The scenery is spectacular to say the least and is comprised of vast mountains, picturesque lakes, and verdant countryside. Nestled within this awe inspiring scenery are quaint villages and bustling market towns, where everyone will find something to interest them.

The area has provided inspiration for many literary geniuses including Wordsworth and Ruskin. We hope you will be as inspired by this location as those who have gone before you.


A great day out can be spent at the national park visitors centre, here you will find extensive well-maintained gardens, an adventure playground for the kids and loads of information about the surrounding area. There is a huge variety of horse riding, fishing and other lake-side water sports to suit all ages. On lake Windermere there are steamers and boat rides for you to enjoy as well as the aquarium of lakes.

With over 1800 miles of footpaths to enjoy you will be spoilt for choice, so make sure to plan your route carefully (see visitors centre for advice). We would recommend a short climb to the viewpoint at Orrest Head, or a stroll down towards the lake and Miller Ground.

The town of Kendal is only 10 miles away where you will find a variety of shops and a rich local history.

"Very sorry to say we weren't impressed..."

We stayed at this cottage and I have to say I was slightly disappointed with a few things. As I relied heavily on the reviews before booking I feel I have to be honest myself.

* The whole place seemed unloved and especially in need of a deep clean and a fresh coat of paint. There were certain areas (behind the pedestal in the bathroom / skirting boards / dishwasher needed a wipe before using) that didn't appear to have been cleaned in a long time. There were big marks on the ceiling in the living room and hallway.

* My husband saw a mouse in the kitchen one evening.

* The garden is extremely small and having to sit out the front patio with the neighbours walking back and forth was a pain.

* Our room weirdly had the cistern from the bedroom next door in our cupboard!? (Not a great feature while trying to get our baby to sleep in the room)

* Some of the lightbulbs were out. The one under the bath in the attic room was especially bothersome.

* My towel smelt of cigarettes.

On the positive side the property itself is a beautiful old building that would be stunning with some redecoration and cleaning.

The location is fantastic for Windermere with some lovely coffee shops/shops within a few minutes walk. The park within two minutes walk away was really lovely for our daughter. However, we found Bowness-on-Windermere much nicer and if we ever returned would definitely stay there.

Due to unforseen circumstances our resident house manager was unable to supervise the changeover for those Guests and an outside agent was used , i have addressed the comments with them and they have changed their proceedures via Mylne Cottage should the situation arise again which we feel is very unlikely

"Excellent accomodation & fantastic location"

We stayed at Mylne cottage during and following a wedding celebration. Our family ranged from 6yrs to 76 yrs and the property met our every need. Having separate bathing facilities for each room was a great feature for this property. During our stay we made the most of the lovely big dining kitchen and did spend the majority of the time around the table which had ample space for dining and playing board games. This property is by far the best equipped we have ever stayed in. The location is also a bonus within walking distance of Windermere. I would highly recommend this property and will definitely be returning.

"Fantastic Holiday cottage"

We stayed in this house over the New Year period, what a Lovely place it was it was like living in your own home comfy warm and it had everything you needed, The owner has thought of everything plus was left a lovely bottle off wine :)
Location was Fantastic about a 3 minute walk into Windermere and a 10 minute walk down into Bowness, Loads of great Restuarants ( recommend the Chinese Oriental Garden Food and service was Brilliant)
House was next to a big open park with play area for young children.
The house had 4 bedrooms all lovely decorated and the spa baths was a great bonus.
Big open Kitchen with large table great for family Breakfasts or playing some fun board games on.
This is a Fantastic house even if you don't have a car Train into Windermere and everything is on your doorstep plus some good walks.
