Lower Hedge Farm
Farmhouse | 5 bedrooms | sleeps 12
Lower Hedge Farm is the ideal country retreat. Situated at the end of a lane down a private track, it offers the opportunity to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a rural setting with the modern comforts, style and charm of a house completely renovated for modern living. It has 5 bedrooms, one of which is a long attic room that spaciously accommodates 4 single beds.
The house and grounds were completely renovated and refurbished over six years, restoring original features such as the many wooden beams, inglenook fireplaces, old bread oven and the enormous flagstones.
Whilst retaining the original features, we have brought the house up to luxurious modern standards epitomised by the addition of the magnificent sun room with high beamed ceilings, under floor heating and large centrepiece fireplace. Other luxuries include the hot tub, large plasma TV and designer kitchen complete with an oil heated Aga and granite work surfaces.
The house is beautifully surrounded by unspoilt countryside where your only neighbours will be some of our sheep. Perfect for getting away from it all and enjoying the views whilst relaxing in the private massaging hot tub.
If you're feeling more active, there is plenty to do such as the games room equipped with table tennis and pool table or the kids outdoor play area. Active or peaceful, it is the ideal rural retreat whether it be for a family reunion or a weekend party away with friends, you are guaranteed a holiday never to be forgotten.
It is possible for guests staying at Lower Hedge Farm to book in at The Sedum Spa during their stay with us. Located a 10 min drive from the house, a day pass costs £15pp, a 3-4 day pass is £27.50pp and a 7 day pass £40pp. Children 12 or under are half price. The West Country region
Located in the beautiful open countryside, close to Glastonbury, the property enjoys magnificent views of the hills. Nearby Longleat safari park offers a unique day out, driving in and amongst the lions and rhinos. Whilst for the architecturally minded, the World Heritage Site of Bath and, Wells the smallest city in England with its beautiful Cathedral, are within a short driving distance. The area also boasts such attractions as Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole caves, The Fleet Air Arm Museum and Haynes Motor Museum.
Glastonbury is famous for it's ancient history. Joseph of Arimathea (Jesus' great uncle) visited Glastonbury following Jesus' death and legend has it that this was the resting place for the holy grail. A few centuries after this King Arthur was buried at the foot of Glastonbury Tor (Avalon) and legend has it he still roams around the Abbey ruins! Either way, Glastonbury is a hive for spirituality and an alternative way of life. One visit to the town will make this abundantly obvious. It does have a great deal of charm though and of course all the necessary amenities. The area is probably best known for Glastonbury Festival which is a couple of miles from the property.
The surrounding fields offer a host of walking routes if you are feeling active. If not, just relax and go to the spa or light the wood burner and put your feet up, soak in the private massaging hot tub.
