Lower Hedge Farm is the ideal country retreat. Situated at the end of a lane down a private track, it offers the opportunity to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a rural setting with the modern comforts, style and charm of a house completely renovated for modern living. It has 5 bedrooms, one of which is a long attic room that spaciously accommodates 4 single beds.

The house and grounds were completely renovated and refurbished over six years, restoring original features such as the many wooden beams, inglenook fireplaces, old bread oven and the enormous flagstones.

Whilst retaining the original features, we have brought the house up to luxurious modern standards epitomised by the addition of the magnificent sun room with high beamed ceilings, under floor heating and large centrepiece fireplace. Other luxuries include the hot tub, large plasma TV and designer kitchen complete with an oil heated Aga and granite work surfaces.

The house is beautifully surrounded by unspoilt countryside where your only neighbours will be some of our sheep. Perfect for getting away from it all and enjoying the views whilst relaxing in the private massaging hot tub.

If you're feeling more active, there is plenty to do such as the games room equipped with table tennis and pool table or the kids outdoor play area. Active or peaceful, it is the ideal rural retreat whether it be for a family reunion or a weekend party away with friends, you are guaranteed a holiday never to be forgotten.

It is possible for guests staying at Lower Hedge Farm to book in at The Sedum Spa during their stay with us. Located a 10 min drive from the house, a day pass costs £15pp, a 3-4 day pass is £27.50pp and a 7 day pass £40pp. Children 12 or under are half price. The Somerset region

Located in the beautiful open countryside, close to Glastonbury, the property enjoys magnificent views of the hills. Nearby Longleat safari park offers a unique day out, driving in and amongst the lions and rhinos. Whilst for the architecturally minded, the World Heritage Site of Bath and, Wells the smallest city in England with its beautiful Cathedral, are within a short driving distance. The area also boasts such attractions as Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole caves, The Fleet Air Arm Museum and Haynes Motor Museum.

Pylle

Glastonbury is famous for it's ancient history. Joseph of Arimathea (Jesus' great uncle) visited Glastonbury following Jesus' death and legend has it that this was the resting place for the holy grail. A few centuries after this King Arthur was buried at the foot of Glastonbury Tor (Avalon) and legend has it he still roams around the Abbey ruins! Either way, Glastonbury is a hive for spirituality and an alternative way of life. One visit to the town will make this abundantly obvious. It does have a great deal of charm though and of course all the necessary amenities. The area is probably best known for Glastonbury Festival which is a couple of miles from the property.

The surrounding fields offer a host of walking routes if you are feeling active. If not, just relax and go to the spa or light the wood burner and put your feet up, soak in the private massaging hot tub.

"Great way to celebrate my mums 60th"

We stayed here as a family group of 12 to celebrate my mums 60th Birthday. It was a wonderfully relaxing and peaceful weekend and something my mum will hopefully treasure forever.

The logistics of booking the accommodation, finding the venue and regularly staying in touch with the company we booked with were very simple and a hassle free experience. We were met at the property and shown all of the essentials. It was a refreshing change to be treated like responsible adults and trusted to respect the property rather than read the rule book about using the property.

The property itself was gorgeous in a lovely setting with access to local amenities and country walks. With hindsight, planning the walks a little better with more than the routes provided by the venue would have made it easier but getting lost is part of a good walk right? The games room delivered great fun for all with the darts, pool & table tennis and the hot tub was the perfect setting to end both evenings. The kitchen was not only fully equipped but had a number of cupboard items (e.g. Worcester sauce) that meant we could cater for ourselves really well all weekend. Sainsbury's delivered to the house with no problems at all. The creature comforts of sky tv and internet were also present (although we tried not to use these). Given everybody seeks out wifi the moment they arrive anywhere these days, 12 people on the wifi did make the internet access a little challenging but nothing that caused many frustrations

All in all, it was a challenge to find a cottage that allowed 12 adults and their family dogs to stay for a weekend but we were all super pleased with what we got

Thank you for your in depth review, we're really pleased you had a good weekend for such a special occasion. Paul & the team.
