The Cornwall region
Porth beach sits to the east of Newquay, in the centre of the north coast of Cornwall, so is perfectly located to explore the county by car.
The dramatic Atlantic coastline of this region, features rugged cliffs punctuated by idyllic coves, sandy beaches and fishing villages.
The sky somehow seems clearer and the quality of light sharper. Sunsets against the seascape can be glorious and stormy conditions equally awe inspiring.
Cornwall boasts a climate virtually always milder than the rest of the country and this has inspired many horticulturists to found wonderful and intriguing gardens, including the renowned Victorian Lost Gardens of Heligan and the 20th Century Eden Project.
Cornwall’s hard working heritage was founded on tin mining and fishing, but with mostly only the remnants of these industries remaining today as museum pieces and picturesque fishing villages.
Cornwall’s romantic heritage speaks of shipwrecks, pirates and smuggling, as portrayed in famous novels and films. You can simply imagine the scenes of a founding ship from the high costal bluffs, or explore the truth behind the myths and legends at the Jamaica Inn museum or Shipwreck and Heritage Centre at Charlestown St Austell.
Hopefully you can also find a little more time to discover Cornwall’s historic sites, such as Tintagel, the legendary home of King Arthur, with its mystical ruins and spectacular location
Close to Porth and leaving the beach for while there are many other places to explore near by, including a blow hole within walking distance on Porth headland, which on windy days can deliver a thrilling show or an impromptu shower.
Heading out on foot the south west costal path is at your doorstep and gives you access to Newquay and beyond to the west and heading towards the heritage coast to the east. Heading inland there are circular walks over an undulating landscape and paths tracking the nearby river.
Striking out slightly further by car fancy lunch on a cliff top with stunning views from the outdoor terrace, try the Lewinnick Lodge at Pentire
Like the thought of trying your hand at surfing, also near by, is Watergate Bay, used by both beginners and hardened surfing enthusiasts, you can find people learning at the surf school and riding the waves, most every day of the year or just sitting on the beach watching the scene enthusiastically.
Want to see how the professionals do it, go to the internationally renowned Fistral bay where a number of surfing festivals and competitions are held each year attracting the stars of the sport.
Want to test your nerve some more, then visit the Extreme Academy also at Water Gate Bay, where you can choose from a range of sports including kite buggying, mountain boarding, wave skiing, and kite surfing.
For the youthful there is a Fun Park at Holywell Bay with a large range of all age attractions including F1 Go-karts, 2 seater Go-Karts, a maize, bumper boats, trampolines, as well as an 18 hole golf course, pitch and putt and much much more.
For the keen Golfer there is an 18 hole course over looking Fistral Bay.
Having mentioned just a few there are many more local attractions such as Newquay zoo than can be found in our visitors information book

"Beautiful beach apartment, immaculately presented and perfect for family"
Stayed with my husband and 20 month old daughter and will definitely be back. The apartment is immaculate, modern and includes everything you could need for self-catering (great kitchen crockery, pots, etc all so clean they look unused, sound system, flatscreen tvs in each room). Gorgeous bathrooms and large bedrooms with the master (like the main room) opening onto the garden and views of the beach and cliffs. The apartment is literally seconds from the lovely and quiet sandy beach (surfing is banned here so it means it's quieter than most beaches which is great for playing with children) which is just a hop over the stile at the bottom of the garden. In the evenings with the outdoor space it means you can sit on the patio and not feel trapped in with children in bed which is fab. There's loads of great stuff nearby, lovely walks along the cliffs to all the other nearby beaches, rockpools, and nearby towns and villages (we visited Padstow and Tintagel which were lovely). Can't recommend this place enough. The only thing to mention is that as you have to climb over the stile to access the beach if you were physically impaired or elderly you'd have to take a longer walk around the apartment to get to the beach.

"Amazing location on the beach, fantastic appartment, perfect holiday."
The property is immaculately presented and superbly furninshed with everything you could need - it really does feel like a home away from home. We travelled with 2 young children (2 & 6yrs), and the appartment had everything we needed.
It really is a beachfront location with the garden joining the beach - perfect for the children to play outside in the garden or on the beach but with the convenience of the appartment. There is an outside surf locker and shower which proved very useful.
I can not rate this appartment highly enough - and would recomend it to anyone wanting a beachfront get away.

"Luxury apartment in a fantastic location"
Despite traditionally British half-term weather, we have just returned from a very restful week staying in Coast 1.
On arrival the apartment was absolutely immaculate. All the fixtures, fittings and equipment provided are of the highest quality, and the beds and sofas extremely comfortable. We really appreciated the helpful information provided both for the apartment and the local area, and loved the subtle Jubilee decoration!
The location of the apartment is amazing - literally on the beach, with lovely walks in either direction. Watching the sun set (on the two days the weather allowed it!) was a delight.
I would highly recommend a stay at Coast 1.

"Immaculate apartment, beautiful area!"
The pictures certainly do not do this property justice. Feeling like you are in your own private beach cove, this apartment was an absolute pleasure to stay in. It was pristine clean with all the required appliances and utensils. It was a 5 minute drive from the town centre, and the great wifi connection must be mentioned. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious with bath towels bigger than the bed sheets, and extremely comfortable beds. We would certainly recommend this property to anybody wanting an escape from the daily grind. If I hade more hands I would give this property more than two thumbs up!

"Wow, what a location!"
Arriving in beautiful sunshine to a fantastic apartment like this was blissful. This modern apartment with all mod cons was the perfect bolthole for a few days away from the maddening crowds. Located directly on the beach to enjoy it's benefits and easy access to the coastal walks was ideal.
We would definitely consider staying here again, the booking admin straight forward with very professional service.
