Fistral Retreats is on an exclusive development on the desirable Pentire Headland between Fistral Beach (famous with surfers), the beautiful River Gannel and the quaint village of Crantock, beach and sand dunes. It is in an area of outstanding beauty, in the quieter part of West Newquay and holds a high 4 star Quality in Tourism (QIT) rating. The French Doors boast stunning views of the world famous Fistral beach and Atlantic ocean with the golf course and dramatic Cornish coastline beyond. A 2 minute walk down a rugged path, or 5 minutes on the pavement, and you are on Fistral Beach. Flat beautiful golden sands and numerous rock pools at either end are a great favourite with children. (The beach has a RNLI presence from Sping to October.) Alternatively, sit and picnic in the landscaped gardens, relax and enjoy the views, listen to the ocean and smell and feel the freshness of the Cornish air.

The apartment on the ground floor benefits from its own dedicated off-road parking space and beautifully maintained landscaped and fenced grounds. Built in 2004 it is sunny, airy and spacious. It is heated by gas central heating, All rooms have opening windows and wood laminate or ceramic tiled flooring. Suitable for all year use. Ideal for families, couples and friends who wish to enjoy the luxury of tastefully coordinated quality furnishings and fittings making it a "home from home".

Quiet and peaceful yet within walking distance of all amenities that Newquay has to offer. The vibrant nightlife, shops and supermarkets, numerous eateries offering local Cornish delights as well as dishes from around the world, to suit a vast array of taste buds, are all within easy reach. For families there are some 9 beaches to choose from as well as a Waterworld, Fun Pool, Zoo, Aquarium, horse riding, lake, Farm World, Pitch and Putt and 4 Screen Cinema, all year round tennis, leisure park, bowling and more within walking distance. The coastal path, on the Pentire Headland, is just a short stroll away from Fistral Retreats with Crantock Village with its golden sands and dunes just a 10 minute walk across the River Gannel footbridge or ferry (in season). Within a 5/10 minute walk there is Lewinnick Lodge Bar and Restaurant also on Pentire Headland with fantastic views across the Atlantic Ocean. Alterrnatively eat at the Bistro set in the cliffs on the Esplanade directly below Fistral Retreats and watch the sun setting with the ocean lapping below or pop into The Fistral Beach Hotel(opposite the bistro). Swimming pools and spas are open to non-residents at neighbouring hotels for a small charge. Ballroom dancing is also available at a local hotel. Fistral Retreats is on the ground floor set in beautiful landscaped grounds and one of a small secluded complex of 22 private apartments on the beautiful quieter Pentire Headland. It has courtyard access across the grounds from the car park (dedicated parking for one car) via a short flight of shallow steps with handrail.

The dining area has an oak table and 4 chairs.

Wherever you choose to go you will never be far (more than an hour's drive) from the beaches, breathtaking coastal walks, sheltered coves and things to do and see: castles, family theme parks, historic houses, beautiful gardens, museums, Cornish heritage, zoos, wildlife sanctuaries, spas, activity centres, theatres/cinemas, working harbours, walks, cycle ways, as well as visiting many interesting old towns as well as Bodmin Moor with its changing landscapes.

Newquay

Newquay dates back to the ironage and originally thrived as a fishing village and like other towns in the area supplemented is income by smuggling. With the advent of the railway it became very popular with the Victorians and with its improved transport systems, sandy beaches, surfing, golfing, coastal paths and surrounding outstanding beauty became a favourite with holiday makers today, many returning year after year.

Newquay is Britain's surfing capital and of its 9 plus sandy beaches it is Fistral that is world famous. With its hollow waves and swell excellent for surfing with numerous surfing schools close by. There are also small rock and paddling pools at the end closest to Fistral Retreats as well as a cafe and bistro. The pretty village of Crantock with its sandy beach and sand dunes is also only a 10 minute walk across the Gannel Estuary via the footbridge/ferry (in season). Next to this is the quieter Polly Joke beach surrounded by national trust land - a must for walkers and nature lovers.

Fistral Retreats is just a short stroll to the the Coast Path and famous Fistral Beach,10 minutes or less to The River Gannel and the pretty Village of Crantock and its quieter beach. Newquay's 18 hole all year Golf Course overlooking Fistral Beach is a 10/15 minute walk or a few minutes drive from Fistral Retreats and extremely popular with golfers. It is one of the finest on the North Coast. For walkers the coastal path, taking you east or west along the coast, is less than 2 minute stroll from Fistal Retreats offering some fantastic views and places of interest, not to mention the odd cafe here and there offering delicious home made cream teas and Cornish pasties.

From safe sandy beaches ideal for children to the thrills of the roaring waves you are sure to find your ideal spot. And with walking, cycling, horse riding, bowling (crown green & tenpin), all year round tennis, fishing, kite surfing, wakeboarding, diving, power kiting/abseiling, kayaking, coasteering, snorkeling, shark cage diving, sea and course fishing, river/sea canoeing, Segway, bodyboarding, neighbouring health spas and indoor swimming pools, pitch and putt and many more activities and events as well as ballroom/sequence dancing it's impossible to be bored.

If the children are bored with the beach there's Newquay Zoo, The Blue Reef Aquarium, Lappa Valley Steam Railway, Diaryland Farm World an all weather family attraction to suit all ages with an award winning nature trail, Trenance Water Park, Waterworld, Tunnels through Time and the new 4 screen Cinema in Newquay.

There's an abundance of cafes, bistros, pubs, restaurants in and around Newquay many using locally procured products and with the ocean and milder climate Newquay is at the forefront of culinary delights. Examples include: Jamie Olivers Fifteen Cornwall at Watergate, Bodhis (beach cafe and bistro at the Fistral Retreats end of the beach), the new Harbour Restaurant set within the harbour, The Forte and Red Lion Inns overlooking the harbour with a pleasant outside and a good spot to enjoy the catch of the day, and many more.

Newquay also has its supermarkets - as you are approach Newquay on your right from Quintrell Downs is Morrisons and Lidl. In central Newquay you have: Sainsburys, Asda, Aldi and Tesco. There's also a little general store and off licence just a five minute walk/1km from Fistral Retreats.

Fistral Retreats is also the ideal base for visiting places of interest such as: The Eden Project near St Austell; The National Maritime Museum at Falmouth; The Lost Gardens of Heligan; Padstow with Rick Steins famous fish and chips and the beautiful off road Camel Way to Bodmin/Poley Bridge ideal for walkers & cyclists; Watergate Bay with Jamie Olivers 15 Restaurant and Extreme Academy; Port Isaac (Port Wenn where Doc Martin is filmed); Isles of Scilly, Truro, St Ives & The Tate Gallery, the Crealy Adventure Park; Bodmin Moor and Prison as well as the world famous open air Minack Theatre, Porthcurno, St Michaels Mount and more. As you say it is ideal for children being on the ground floor and set in landscaped grounds away from the road. We were sorry to hear about the parking fine but as you can appreciate parking is at a premium in the whole of the Newquay area and to stop illegal parking on our private land, as has happened all to often in the past, it has to be policed vigilantly. This is why we state that the parking permit must be clearly displayed at all times in the vehicle.
