Description

Dyfed 9 is a detached log cabin situated in the beautiful wild uplands of Carmarthenshire, nestled within 44 acres of shared tranquil woodland within the grounds of the stately Pantglas Hall Estate. In a private, elevated position, this two bedroomed holiday home has been furnished to a very good standard and offers comfortable and cosy accommodation, with attractive log walls and a wood burner to relax and unwind in front of. Outside, the private patio garden to the side has a Mediterranean-style built-in barbecue and outdoor furniture, the perfect place to watch the birds and enjoy the chorus of nature.

Although the original Pantglas mansion no longer exists, the estate has been developed into a peaceful leisure resort, with a romantic ruined tower and ornamental lake with bridge. Although the original Pantglas mansion no longer exists, the estate has been developed into a peaceful leisure resort, with a romantic ruined tower and ornamental lake with bridge. The impressive mews building, a short walk from Dyfed Nine, provides the focus for leisure facilities. Within the old Victorian walled garden, there is a purpose-built complex with an indoor heated swimming pool (open 365 days a year), a well equipped gym, sauna and hot tub. Outside, there are all-weather tennis courts, a children’s play area, football pitch and mini crazy golf.

Free Wi-Fi is available in the Cabin and In the mews building there is a coffee shop (also with WiFi), and a restaurant that offers traditional Sunday lunch, table d’hôte meals or an a la carte evening menu. At certain times of the year, you may also be able to join in on themed Welsh nights with traditional food, music and dancing. There are two full size snooker tables, a pool table, table tennis table, dart board and a children’s play room.

If you can tear yourself away from the Estate, there are plenty of places to explore. Carmarthenshire is rich in history, outstanding scenery and castles, and traditional market towns. The county is known as the ’garden of Wales’ for good reason. The area boasts some of the finest horticultural gems in Britain, with The National Botanical Gardens, the historical Aberglasney House and Garden, and Dinefwr House and Park, all within a 10-minute drive. Carmarthenshire also has six of the finest ’bucket and spade’ beaches in Europe, and one of the longest in Wales, Cefn Sidan, at Pembrey. The Brecon Beacons, Brechfa Forest, Black Mountains and Neath Valley are within easy reach, as are the rugged coasts of Pembrokeshire, Cardigan and the Gower Peninsula. Pantglas Hall can keep guests entertained throughout their stay, and lovely Dyfed 9 is the perfect place to be to enjoy everything that this resort and the wider area has to offer. Come and see for yourself. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 metres.

Location description from owner

The Wales region

Dyfed 9 is privately owned within Pantglas Hall which is a Holiday Resort and Leisure Club in Carmarthenshire 'The garden of Wales'. It is the perfect base to explore South West Wales with its wonderful history, scenery, traditional market towns and beautiful coastline.

The resort has been developed within the remains of the Pantglas Hall estate. Although the mansion itself no longer exists, its romantic ruined tower, ornamental lake with bridge, and the impressive mews building still stand and provide the focus of the resort.

Llanfynydd

So, if you are able muster the willingness to leave this idyllic haven, the ancient, picture-perfect town of Llandeilo, just seven miles away, can’t be missed. With its array of independent shops and galleries selling one-off items, local crafts, designer labels, bespoke furniture, award-winning local produce and antiques, it’s easy to see why it’s become renowned as one of the best shopping destinations in Wales. With over 50 traders in its extensive antiques centre, fortnightly auctions and Friday morning markets, the town’s a bargain hunter’s dream. A plethora of skilled beauty and well-being professionals are on hand for those in search of pampering and a great selection of eateries offer everything from fine dining to bowls of hearty, traditional cawl. The week long, early summer Festival of Music and Flowers attracts some of the biggest classical and jazz names in the business, Jamie Cullen and Tamsin Little amongst them; thousands flock to this ‘musical mecca of the west’. Late November sees the four day Festival of Senses and a great Christmas shopping opportunity; late night opening, the town brimming with market stalls, Christmas lights, fireworks, Santa’s grotto, top chefs demonstrating their magic with the best of Carmarthenshire produce and many venues offering live music and speciality dining. Llandeilo’s guaranteed to be a place you’ll want to return to, time and time again.

Just a mile from the town, the National Trust’s 800 acre Dinefwr Park and Castle is certainly worth a visit. One of the most illustrious places in Welsh history, it was home to the medieval court of the great Welsh prince Lord Rhys. Now, as well as a blast of the past, the place offers tours of the vast deer park and a varied programme of events and activities for all ages. Just a ten minute drive away, the National Botanic Gardens of Wales and Aberglasney make for great days out but five miles away, Carreg Cennen Castle, voted Welsh building of the millennium, must not be missed. Its spell-binding views make it the most dramatically situated castle in Wales. Take a torch and explore the cave beneath its foundations or take one of the circular walks around the castle and past the source of the River Lougher, also the source of the famous Brecon Carreg Mineral Water. Then reward your exertions with a lunch or some great homemade cake in the tearooms.

From city centre shopping in Swansea to lazing on stunning Blue Flag beaches to mountain biking through the world renowned trails of Brechfa Forest: a vast and diverse array of sights, experiences and facilities lie within an hour’s drive of Dyfed 9. But whatever the season or whatever the adventure, on returning to this tranquil haven you can’t fail to appreciate what a very special place it is.
