TOURIST LICENCE. it is now the law that all rented villas must have a licence. All health and safety requirements must be installed, some of which may seem a little silly such as the sign proclaiming that 'no lifeguard is on duty' - profoundly disappointing those hoping for a bay watch babe!- however it is most important that the licence be obtained as those without it can be shut down, guests or not! Our villa has been inspected and awarded it's licence
The Algarve region
Lagos (pronounced Lah-gosh!) is quite different to most other Algarve resorts. This is no purpose built resort
or over developed fishing village. It is an ancient Portuguese town, its heritage very well preserved by the local council. Tourism now plays an important part in its prosperity, but by no means overwhelms it. The centre of town has lovely old squares, fountains and pedestrian streets, full of restaurants and bars; but a short stroll
from the centre you will find rambling cobbled streets; a flight of steps leading to an ancient church, or the old city walls surrounding the town. Visit the new marina with its quayside cafes and bars; walk along the lovely palm fringed promenade, overlooking the fishing boatsand town beaches with an old fort jutting out into the sea.
In Lagos is found the first (and last!) slave market in Europe and the Church of Santo Antonio with its regional
museum. In short it is a spacious Portuguese town with something for everyone, no matter what your taste.
Lagos has numerous restaurants to suit all pockets and tastes, from Portuguese tavernas to the only 3 star
restaurant in the area. There are pizzerias, steakhouses, vegetarian, Chinese, Indian and Japanese restaurants.
There are pavement cafes in pretty squares; bars and discos; trendy boutiques and gift shops; a municipal market and various supermarkets. It is the favourite holiday town of the Portuguese themselves, which ensures good value for money and Portugal itself is one of the cheapest countries in Europe. In and around Lagos are 5 championship golf courses; facilities for sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, scuba diving, deep sea fishing , boat triips, tennis, squash, horse riding and for the really adventurous-microlight flying!
The new motor racing track near Portimao is within easy reach, just one junction down the motorway (but thankfully out of earshot!) It is hosting many motoring events, has been approved by FIA to hold Formula One races and is already used by Mclaren and Ferrari as a test track, so many star drivers are on view, and seems certain to add to the many good reasons to visit the Algarve!
Further information on all local facilities will be sent to all who book the villa together with directions, map and a food list to be sent to the management service to order those items you would like in the villa for your arrival.

"Another week in Paradise"
Just spent another wonderful week in Casa do Mirodouro. The villa is large and airy - perfect when the weather is hot. Stepping out of the master bedroom straight on to the terrace for an early swim is a delight, and the shaded poolside dining area under a massive and beautiful bourgonvillia is a great place to dry-off and have breakfast. The villa is set on a hillside just outside the town and from the balcony we overlooked Lagos and the sea.It is quiet; the local cockerell has a dodgy watch, he only crows at 2.30 pm! Antonia the maid is a delight. Got to be our favourite holiday hideaway.
