“Perfect Tranquil environment”

Reviewed 12 Jan 2017

We needed a place to stay near relatives over the holiday period. We are grandparents from Glasgow with two teenagers. At this time of year we were concerned about being warm enough. No worries here, with underfloor heating & a lovely wood burning stove, if you need it, the cottage so well insulated, proved to be very cosy. The facilities are great. Second bedroom although no photograph has large adult size very comfortable bunk beds. So our adult size teenagers were very happy. The double bedroom again very comfortable king size bed with wardrobe & everything you would need. Large modern wet room, perfect for us. The cottage is actually very spacious with a well equipped kitchen & lovely dinning area with views of the river. The owners Tom & Racheal, perfect hosts so helpful but not intrusive, had no problem with us inviting our family over for lunch, so we were able to cater for 7 of us quite comfortably. There's a beautiful garden with plenty of room to sit outside in this lovely environment. We were blessed with perfect weather, so could enjoy peaceful walks. Downpatrick isn't far with shops & cinemas & a bit further Newcastle to see the Mountains of Mourne, Morlough beach & a coffee or ice- cream at Maud's. For a family who live in the city, Hemp cottage gave us the chance to experience the " good life" in comfort. We came home feeling refreshed & happy, looking forward to our next visit here!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your detailed & kind review. It was a pleasure hosting you all over New Year, and we're hoping to see you again in 2017. Rachel & Tom.

“A very nice and peaceful cottage”

Reviewed 21 Sep 2016

The cottage is in a very peaceful location and is convenient for most places in County Down including Downpatrick where we spent a lot of time. There are many interesting eco features to the property. The owners were very helpful and friendly without being intrusive.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to do a review. Glad you enjoyed the cottage & location.

“Fabulous Stay”

Reviewed 27 Apr 2015

Would highly recommend this gem of a cottage for anyone exploring the beautiful County Down coast and countryside. Cottage is warm comfortable, very spacious and well equipped. A lot of thought and attention to detail has gone into the design of this unique environmentally friendly building. Lovely grounds right by the stream, and if your lucky, freshly laid eggs from the 'girls' in the morning!
