“Perfect, peaceful and picturesque”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2019

We had planned to visit Islay and Jura during our holiday. We ended up staying on Jura much longer than planned as we loved it so much. The accommodation was great, very spacious and very clean. We loved the nautical decor and had everything we needed. The location was fantastic, we loved stepping out each day for our walk on the little beach. The pub/hotel, whisky distillery and shop was a short walk away. There is a great gallery near the pier and some local crafts in the shop and community hall. E We had great weather and managed to take the boat ride to visit seals. We also saw sea eagles and golden eagles. The scenery is stunning. We would definitely return to Island View. Thank you Annie for sharing your lovely place.

Owner's reply: Thank you for this review! You will be very welcome to return if you should wish to, in the future. Thank you for being such great guests - it is very appreciated. I look forward to welcoming you back there. Very best wishes to you! Annie

“Great setting....but in need of some serious TLC”

We loved Jura, the wild open spaces, beautiful beaches, fantastic mountains, friendly people...but we were disappointed with the property. The rooms were very cold when we arrived, and only one of the… More

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I have already addressed the issues with you directly in your initial email but to let others know and redress the balance...the heaters have been recently fitted and in perfect working order but occasionally there are power cuts on the island which can affect the timers on them. It is for this reason that we leave several plug in portable heaters as a back up, which are effective in heating up the house. We also ensure that there is plenty of wood available for the wood burner. With regards to the front and back gardens - we are not resident on the island we therefore have to rely on others to carry out the grass cutting for us and on this occasion our person was away at the time of your visit. He returned to cut it in the week afterwards which is unfortunate for you that the timing did not coincide. Our house is much loved inspite of the comments in your email and a lot of time and money is invested in trying to keep it in order. Due to being next to the shore the houses and vehicles are exposed to the sometimes extremely harsh elements, so perfect white picket fences and manicured gardens are sadly not befitting in this instance. The island is wild, rugged and beautiful so I am pleased that you were at least able to show an appreciation of that. Thank you again for your feedback. Kind regards - Annie
