Description

The Barn is one north of the town of Brechfa. The farm has its own stream, paddocks and a second undeveloped barn. This is a rural paradise, with our closest neighbours 1/2 mile away and the most noise coming from sheep in the surrounding pastures.

The Barn has been beautifully converted into two en suite bedrooms, both with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. It's well equipped - we've tried to think of everything! The spacious kitchen/dining area has underfloor heating (which is loved by dogs and people alike), and the sitting room is especially cosy with the wood burner.

There's Sky TV, a secure wifi connection, DVD player and lots of board games to keep you amused.

All bed linen, towels, hand and laundry soap, loo rolls and washing up liquid are provided within the cost.

And we're dog friendly, with an enclosed garden. The Barn caters for a maximum of four people (children over 5 only).

The Wales region

Carmarthenshire is a jewel, often overlooked by people on their way to Pembrokeshire. With Carmarthen as the county seat, the beautiful Teifi and Towy valleys to explore, Brechfa Forest for walkers and cyclists, and many castles, National Trust properties and the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, this is a special place indeed.

Brechfa

The Brechfa Forest is a magical area. The bike tracks are now drawing enthusiasts from all over the UK and western Europe. Perfect too for dog walkers with miles of stable tracks and stunning views. Visit Llanllwni Mountain, an area of special landscape value and look east to the Brecon Beacons, south towards Llanelli and west towards the snow capped Cadair Idris.

“Superb accommodation”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2016

Recently stayed at The Barn with my husband and very excitable dog. First impressions when you enter The Barn are excellent. The barn lived up to all the previous reviews I have read . Cannot recommend a visit enough. Lovely king size bed with en suite. The living room and kitchen had everything you need. Wonderful peaceful location but Carmarthen only 30 mins away if you do need the town. Also recommend Elinor's cakes (scrummy). Thank you to Elinor and Paul for making our short stay memorable.

It was lovely having you to stay, and I'm so pleased you chose us to celebrate your anniversary! We hope to see you again - even the excitable Ginny the dog! All the best.

“Summed up by my daughter as 'Awesome'”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2016

Beautiful, superbly equipped barn set in the most idyllic location. Sitting out with my morning cup of tea hearing nothing but the occasional sheep is my idea of heaven! Elinor and Paul were perfect hosts, the welcome wine and apple cake were delicious. I can also recommend the eggs, bread and lemon drizzle cake! Our daughter loved having her own room and the ensuite was the icing on the cake. She also loved the two very well behaved dogs. The barn is the best holiday cottage we have stayed in and I couldn't fault it in anyway. Thank you for a lovely week.

I'm so pleased, despite our variable weather, that you had a good week. Thank you for the sparkling review! All the best.

“Ticks all the boxes”

We have been holidaying in cottages in the UK for about ten years and this is simply the best cottage we have ever stayed in. Elinor and Paul have always given us and our four-legged friends a very warm welcome since our first stay in 2011 and we have had a further four visits since. The Barn is very comfortable whatever the season, well equipped and spacious, and always immaculately clean. The location is truly peaceful and The Barn is set well back from what is a quiet road, with the added bonus of an enclosed garden. The welcome pack and the basics supplied (e.g. soap) are more generous than we have experienced elsewhere and the beds far more comfortable. There are plenty of lovely walks from the cottage, but there are also many beautiful places within easy reach by car. We like to think of The Barn as our retreat from our busy lives at home and we are currently planning our sixth visit and looking forward to more of Elinor's homemade bread and cakes!

We really appreciate the feedback, and are always looking for ways to make the stay better for our guests and their dogs. Thank you for such a leg up!

“The best holiday let we ever had.”

Friendly welcome, wine and a delicious cake left. You can order cakes, bread on a daily basis, the barn is very spacious and sparkling clean, beds very comfortable and beautiful and clean bedding. Under floor heating and hot water all day long. Two bathroom, one with bath and shower the other one has a power shower. Plenty of towels provided, laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer soap powder and loads more goodies provided. Pet friendly, towels, dog bowls and poo bags provided. A safe garden for your dog or child to play in. Outside is so peaceful and relaxing, beautiful scenery just looking across fields, only sheep and birds to keep you company. Wi-fi/Internet provided, great to keep in contact with family. Great local walks, easy access to local shops, I e groceries, news papers etc. Elinor and Paul live close to the barn, they maintain high standards of cleanness inside and outside. They are very friendly and helpful and they work hard to maintain high standards so that you have a good and relaxing holiday.

Glad you had such a good stay - we're looking forward to seeing you again this October! All the best.

“Fantastic, luxury barn such a warm welcome form Elinor and Paul the owners, very highly recommended.”

We stay in self catering accommodation regularly and this is by far the best and really lives up to its 5 star rating. The owners have thought about absolutely everything when equipping the barn, its so warm and welcoming. If you have dogs like us, this is doggy heaven, not only are they as welcome as their owners the area where the barn is situated is perfect for woodland walks, just minutes from the entrance . There is sky tv and wifi for those who need it, everywhere is spotless but so homely, in fact we never want to leave (neither do the dogs !). Elinor will supply on request freshly laid eggs, homemade cakes and bread, all delicious . It is also in an ideal spot for reaching both countryside and beaches if you can tear yourself away. We will soon be booking our third trip.

Thank you for such a glowing review - we're so pleased you had a good time, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

“Wonderful wild Wales”

Reviewed 30 Mar 2013

Four of us spent a great long weekend in this pretty barn which was warm and comfortable and has everything you could need to make staying a pleasure. We also took full advantage of the fresh baked bread and cakes made by our host, Elinor, and the fresh eggs made by her hens! We went on walks in Brechfa forest and the surrounding hills, took a trip to the sea-side and to the local pubs (fantastic Welsh beef!) and I have never seen such bright stars in the UK as we saw one clear night here in Wales. We would definitely go again and next time for a full week.

We're so pleased you had a good time, and we look forward to seeing all four of you again soon! Thank you for such a leg up!
