“Cosy barn in a beautiful location”

Reviewed 7 Oct 2012

The barns are situated in beautiful countryside, with Brechfa Forest just a short walk away. We found the accommodation to be very clean and well-equipped; the owners Nikki and Jason were very welcoming and seem to have thought about everything you may need. The wood burning stove was a hit and it made the evenings very cosy. There is a small enclosed garden which was great for our dogs and gave them a good view of the sheep in the neighbouring field, so if you take dogs make sure that the gate is closed (one of mine has an ASBO and I kept her on a lead!). The barns are in a good location for exploring the countryside and coast; Nikki suggested a trip to Pembury Country Park which we absolutely loved. We did not have enough time to visit all of the places we would have liked to so it gives us the excuse to visit the barns again, see you soon.

So lovely to hear you're thinking of a return visit Yvonne. Many thanks for your kind comments. I'm sure our TripAdvisor reviews are a great help to those thinking of booking with us. See you soon!

“Amazing Cakes”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2012

Everything you need in this stunning cottage, dog friendly with much needed enclosed garden. What a hard working young woman Nikki is, nothing is too much trouble. Her Welsh apple cake should be sold commercially ! Stunning views and very peaceful. Perfect in every way, could not have asked for anything more. A brilliant getaway.Karen & John Morgan.

Ahhh thank you John! Come back soon - there's lots more cake waiting for you :)

“Magical week”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2012

My partner, two dogs and I spent a blissful week in Brechfa Forest Barns. The views are "to die for" - and to find such a lovely place where the dogs were welcome - in an unfussy and sensible way was GREAT! In addition, the barn was immaculate and totally "un doggy" - with comfy furniture and clean and modern decor. Our hosts were warm, friendly and great fun - while at the same time respecting our privacy, too. We seriously recommend Nicky's fabulous food - delicious and lots of it. The barn is wonderfully situated for all that South Wales has to offer. We'll definitely be back - and highly recommend Brechfa Forest Barns.

You were both most welcome. Thanks a million for reviewing us - we really appreciate it. Come back soon both, and bring those gorgeous doglets with you!

“Great location, great host”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2012

Always wanted to spend some time in Wales, found this on the web and from first contact, Nikki was brilliant. You can be self sufficient or you can use nikki's meal service, we had pre- booked meals for our arrival and the next day from an extensive menu, along with full English breakfast which arrived at the agreed time, hot and delicious which after spending the day walking was perfect. The hay barn was very well equipped and lovely and warm. If you happen to wake up during the night there is a lovely view of the stars through the skylight windows (wish I had known what they were all called). We will definitely be returning and I hope to go out with Jason next time and try mountain biking. Thanks nikki.

Lovely comments Danny - thank you. Glad you enjoyed the meals and star gazing and delighted as always to hear our guests want to return. There is no light pollution here so we have the best sky at night when the weather is clear. Jason would love to take you guiding next time. Perhaps you'd like to try one of our brand new Bionicon full suspension hire bikes too! See you soon we hope :) Nikki

“Great Holiday”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2012

A big thank you to Nikki & Jason for making this great holiday possible. Bay Tree Barn is an excellent place to stay. The views are stunning and the barn makes a very comfortable bolthole where we can rest after being run ragged by our 5 dogs in the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside. Nikki's food is a gutbusting masterpiece, enough to feed a Welsh regiment. We are in the process of booking for next year. Highly recommended for peole and pups alike.

A gut busting masterpiece eh? I must revise my portion sizes! Thanks a million for the wonderful review Chris and we are delighted you've decided to book again for next year. See you then!

“Stunning location, great food, everything we needed was there!”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2012

Perfect for biking, walking, river swimming, coast not too far. Nikki's food was excellent - thoroughly recommend it - and self catering was ideal for us too; good to have the choice. Lots of games for the kids and space to explore and use up lots of energy - ideal!

We're very glad you all enjoyed your stay here. And many thanks to you for taking the time out to review us - such a help for other potential guests. We'd love to have you all back some time. Take care.

“Lovely cottage in a beautiful location”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2012

Stayed at Brecha Forest Barns in May 2012. On arrival we received a warm friendly welcome form Nikki, who took us through the workings of the cottage and recommended place to visit with our dog, and places to eat where he could come with us. The food cooked by Nikki ,on the first night was homely and welcoming after the drive there We went to Pembry Country Park, after it was recommended, and we had a lovely day there, walking on the beach, playing crazy golf, and the dry toboggan run!! The cottage was warm and homely with all you required for a comfortable break.

Thank you very much for taking the time to place your review Lesley. Kind words - we're so glad you enjoyed your time with us.

“Beautiful cottage, lovely owners, fabulous week!”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2012

The cottage was absolutely beautiful! The decoration and furnishings were adorable. Everything had a high standard of upkeep. We were not without anything in the cottage. Nikki had thought of everything. Nikki's food was delicious. Very dog friendly, which was important to us, as we were travelling with three dogs. Nikki and Jason were superb hosts. Nikki advised us on great places to walk the dogs. We visited a beach she had recommended, and we were not disappointed. I also booked some mountain bike riding with Jason, which was fab. I would recommend adding some mountain biking into your trip. Jason was a great guide!! We will certainly be visiting again!

Yay! It finally let you in to leave a review! Thanks so much - we are always so grateful of our guests reviews - especially if they are as lovely as yours was. As always, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and can't wait to have you back. Book soon! :)

“Excellent Accommodation and Fantastic Hospitality”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2012

My wife and daughter were here with our 2 dogs during the Jubilee long weekend. Weather was crappy, but it didn't matter. I had the honour of going out on the bike with Jay on the Saturday. Loved it so much I'm going back for seconds with just the blokes for a weekend of riding. Hospitality is second to none and the accommodation is outstanding.

Excellent! Thanks Matt. Really looking forward to your boys mountain biking week-end in August. Let's hope for better weather! ;)

“I really only wanted to go home pack up and come back.”

Reviewed 31 May 2012

Our recent stay at Brechfa Forest Barns was the perfect antidote to our busy lives. Don't believe what people say about it always raining in Wales either - we arrived in glorious sunshine on Monday evening. Having pre-booked an evening meal with Nikki we didn't have to worry about shopping. Although this meant we didn't have milk to go with the cereal we had brought for breakfast and Mark couldn't have a white coffee Nikki was soon to the rescue with a couple of pints of milk and it was no trouble when we asked for a cooked breakfast for the following morning too (who needs cereal on holiday! mountain air was clearly already making us hungry!) The accommodation was perfect for our needs and was very well presented clean and tidy. despite the fact Nikki and Jason cater so well for dog owners i would recommend them to non-dog owners too. There was no indication that the property had accommodated dogs, no doggy smells whatsoever. yet what made it special too for 'your best friends' was the little cupboard with dog bowls and towels :-) i think whatever type of holiday you are looking for you could find it here. Pembrey beach was out of this world, Brechfa Forest quiet, Abergorlech walk was cool under the trees and the dogs loved the river. A good hours walk with hardly a soul to disturb you gave us an appetite to try the Black Lion for lunch where the hosts were welcoming and friendly and the food fantastic. The scenery is breathtaking, the views from the garden to be enjoyed with a glass of wine as the sun sets....... I really only wanted to go home pack up and come back.

Brilliant! Thanks a million for taking a moment to review us and point out some of the finest places to visit nearby. And yes, contrary to popular belief, the sun does often shine in a Wales and, when it does, there is no better to be. We are delighted to be able to share this gorgeous slice of country life with our visitors. We do hope you'll return. Lovely guests are always welcome! :)
