Description

A few kilometers outside Rethymno, in the village of Atsipopoulo, we see the construction of the guesthouse Villa 'Myrtia'.

Villa Myrtia is one of the two twin- villas of this property, in which you will feel the venetian atmosphere, which is related with the history of this island. The name of the guesthouse came from the name of owner's village, which is the place where one of the most famous authors of Greece 'Nikos Kazantzakis' was born.

The owners have respected the traditional architecture of Crete and have used indigenous materials such as stone and wood. However, they have constructed a very comfortable house, as it is the most important point of holidays.

They await you to experience the Cretan hospitality, tradition and history, as well as pleasurable moments of relaxation and serenity.

The villa locates at the center of village Atsipopoulo, that can meet all your first needs. Supermarket, bakery, groceries and butchery shop, cofee shop, restaurants, ATM and pharmacy are all in walking distance (200 metres from the entrance of the villas). However, as you come in from the entrance of the villas, the whole atmosphere changes, as our villas locate inside the nature in a peaceful and ideal for relaxing enviroment. The center of Rethymno is also 5 kilometres away and 10 minutes drive.

The villa is concstructed in maisonette style, measures 150 m2 and has a private swimming pool and balcony. Moreover, each of the villas host 8 persons in 4 bedrooms. Two of them have a double bed and the rest two have two single beds each.

On the ground floor you will find the living area with a fireplace, a full-equipped kitchen and a dining area. It also includes the first two bedrooms and a lavatory.

The top floor consists of two bedrooms, a lavatory and a balcony with a view of the traditional village nearby and the nature. All the rooms are air-conditioned.

The villa is equipped with Satellite television, DVD player, CD Player and radio, Coffee machinet, Microwave, Toaster, Dishwasher, Clothes washer, Deposit box, Hair-dryer and Baby cot.

The exterior of the villa has a table and seats for all the 8 persons, as well as 8 sunbeds in order you can enjoy the cretan sun. In addition, each villa has its own barbeque facilities for your personal use.

The location of the villas are ideal for exploring our whole island. Located in the center of the north part of Crete, only 3 kilometres from the highway provides easy access from the local airports (Heraklion and Chania) and the opportunity to visit from the big cities of the island to the smallest beaches in both north and south part of Crete.

“Beautiful villa in a beautiful part of Crete”

We travelled to Greece in early July with our 15-month-old daughter; the villa was a home from home and suited our needs perfectly. We booked the villa via email with George; he made the process so easy, he answered all our questions, gave helpful directions from the airport and gave some great suggestions of things to do within the area. Set in a small Greek village the villa was of a high standard, with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, spacious living and pool area it was prefect. The villa was decorated to a high standard, with all the essentials required, air con in every room and lots of natural light. There wasn’t cable TV but this didn’t bother us as we were there to enjoy the glorious weather and spend time together as a family. With a small child we did find that the washing machine was a great help and went home with very little washing! A benefit as I’m a busy mum at home! Within walking distance were a supermarket and bakery but just a short drive and there are more shops. We can highly recommend the Greek bakeries; the pastries and breads are delicious. We were welcomed to the villa by the family with pastries and drinks, which we thought was a lovely touch. They showed us round the villa and were on hand to answer any questions we had, we felt immediately at home. It was a short drive into Rethimon, which was a busy town with lots of shops and restaurants. With easy parking options it was effortless with a small child, you can also book boat trips from this area. We drove to Elafonissi beach, which we would highly recommend, a beautiful beach in beautiful surroundings. The sand has hints of pink and the water is crystal clear and streaches out for miles, well worth the drive and visit. As this is such a beautiful beach it does get busy but we found that it wasn’t over crowded even in the height of summer. We enjoyed staying at the villa and are thinking about a return trip, possibly next year. We would highly recommend the villa, George and his family were delightful hosts and we have wonderful memories of our 1st holiday with daughter.

What a wonderful villa! Built in the traditional Cretan style, it was spacious, spotlessly clean and had a pool! The owners were fantastic and could not have done more to make us feel at home and welcome. They went out of their way to help me find relatives in the village and even arranged for them to meet us upon our arrival! It was a complete surprise and so thoughtful of them. The villa is situated in the middle of the village of Atsipopoulo. If you would like to experience the real Crete, stay here. You can hear the "baahing" of the goats and crowing of the roosters and feel like you're in a magical place. Make sure you walk the narrow streets and strike up a conversation with the people in the village. They are warm and welcoming. The town of Rethymno is only 10 minutes away and beautiful beaches, too. You will fall in love with everything - the villa, the village and the people!

The villa is the best place to stay in your holidays. I spent two weeks with my family there and we all enjoyed every second. Although it locates at the center of the village (just next to the supermarket, tavernas , bakery and coffe shop), when you go inside to the yard and sit next to swimming pool, you feel like you are an absolutely different place. It is very quiet and you can relax as in a house, which is kilometres away from the noise of cities or villages. The location of the house is also “strategic”, as you can explore the whole island of Crete, which is very fabulous. We mada a lot of trips to different locations, where we felt the cretan hospitality and met a lot of beautiful sand beaches, which were perfect. We would like to thank the owners for their kidness and willingness to help us and also our perfect holidays. We will be back for sure.
