“Nice place, great service” Appartement situated some 20 min from Rethymnon and the north coast, in a rural area, surrounded by olive trees, away from mass tourism. Nice view from the terrace to the sea. Nice swimming pool, shared with 3 other appartements. Lovely welcome package (fresh bread, fruit, coffee etc). Kind owner, who makes a great effort to make our stay comfortable. Our complaints about hardness of the beds and wifi quality, were resolved by the owner within a day.
The apartment is situated in a quiet and beautiful area, while still being in a comfortable distance to Rethymnon and its various restaurants and bars. You get a distant view to the sea from the pool, all the while being surrounded by olive trees and chirping birds. The apartment itself was cleaned well and there were several goodies included in a free “welcome package”, such as fresh apples & oranges, washing powder and other useful things.
We visited Crete as a group of 5 grown men, and this apartment easily had enough space for us all to spend our time here comfortably. The included WiFi, potable tap water and wonderful surroundings were a nice cherry-on-top.
Our contact to the owner Stavros and his local partner Stelios was always quick, forthcoming and precise. Overall we were surprised by just how much service and comfort we were given for such a fair price. We recommend this apartment to anyone who would like to spend their time exploring the surroundings and not having to deal with inner city traffic etc …
Breathtaking views in Archos
Archos Villa - a peaseful and wonderful place to stay!
Upon our arrival, I was preparing myself of the house being more worn down and dirty than the pictures. Pictures always lie, and I did not want to be disappointed. So I lovered my expectations, and hoped the house would be at least ok. However, what met us that evening, right after the sun set, was the perfect start to our two weeks holyday in beautiful Krete! The house owner, Gianis, and Manos, was on the balcony waving us welcome. After the emails prior to our holiday, it felt almost like coming home to relatives. The driveway was beautifully lit up. It was clean, and the garden was just so well trimmed! Coming into the house, I could se right away that the pictures lied. This was SO much better than the pictures! In every way! I had expected the house to be a little bigger, but still, this was more than big enough for 4 adults and 4 kids. Everything clean, no signs of worn down furniture. And best of all - you come into a cosy home! Not like som empty, cold hotel room. This was just perfect! And on our way through the livingroom and out on the balkony, we could see the table was set with Gianis' own Raki, som olives, and local cheese. After a welcoming "Yamas!" and a little snack, I just knew that we had chosen the right place to stay for our holiday!
So yes, the pictures does lie - the house was much better than the pictures showed! The web page also deserves some evening pictures, because with the outdoor lighting the evening atmosphare is just wonderful!
Since we arrived late in the evening, Gianis had filled the fridge with water, bread, ham & cheese, and some juice. So everything was set for breakfast, without having to go out looking for a super market in the dark. We were hungry for some gyros though, so we drove down to the nearest town (10 minutes) where there were plenty of tavernas to choose from. It is a long strip of tavernas, supermarkets, shopping centre, og cart and minigolf - Perfect for a evening out With the kids when you don't want to og the extra 10 minutes to the old town.
We also used the BBQ area some evenings. The BBQ area also need more justefying pictures. A great place in the "back" of the house, surrended by a ligted stone wall, lime tree, a little vedgtable garden, and off course the olive trees. A Perfect end of a day at the pool.
The pool area also was great when you travel with kids. The down stairs livingroom has a entrence out to the garden and the pool, so the kids could play in the pool, and go inside to draw or play in the livingroom. We found this perfect, because the children could get some rest in the shade without to much hassel. We could still be out in the sun while the kids managed on their own. The pool was also very clean and delicate.
I also must thank Gianis and Manos for making sure we had everything we needed, all the time. You really feel taken care of when you stay here. I reckon if you rent from a big rental company or similar, you are forgotten the second you pay and get the key. But in Archos Villa you are Gianis' guest, and he really makes you feel at home!
Also, listen to the recomendatons you will get for restaurants. The ones we tried after recomendations from Gianis/Manos was the best places we went!
So, if you need a place to stay, stay at Archos Villa. …
Villa Ikaros - Panoramic Sea View & Full Privacy!
Superb villa with wide view on the vally of Rethymno
We particularly enjoyed the silence, sounds of nature and the colourfull garden wall of bougainville, roses and conifers. We saw Bonelli eagles flying at least onces every day (ones even a griffonn vulture!) The villa is modern with rustic details, room are high. The villa is indeed fully equiped for 6 persons. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare quality food, and also the bbq is fully equipped. We even baked or ouwn bread. We used the Cretan Cookbook in the villa many times (english/german/dutch). There are alo tavernas in de surrounding area. The pool is big enough to swim lanes and there are 6 beds of good quality. For us it was a meditative and relaxing environment. We enjoyed driving the last part uphill, yes it is quit steep but we had no problems. The owner is helpfull, generous and friendly. When we arrived there were bottles of water in the fridge, bread to make toast, marmelade, butter and fruit. And off corse, raki on the table. This was our second time in Villa Ikaros and again we enjoyed this little paradise very much. …
