“A home away from home.” We rented two of the cottages and stayed towards the end of February. The accommodation was very well equipped and we had some lovely family meals with the beautiful view of the fjord before us. We spent our days exploring, doing the usual trips like the Blue Lagoon, Reykjavik, the geysers and waterfalls, and when we returned each evening, the cottages were warm and inviting. As there was a fierce and bitter February wind, only my husband was brave, or mad, enough to try the hot tub, but we were all fortunate to see the Northern Lights faintly on our last evening. We found Iceland fascinating and would love to return to the cottages, but perhaps in summer :-) All in all, it was an incredible experience and the hospitality of our hosts and their friendly beagles made us feel very welcome.

“Two-day stay in a nice little log cabin” We had a great stay in this nice cabin, in a peaceful location close to the river. The hot tub was fantastic for the kids (they spent hours in it), especially when the weather is a bit cold and rainy. The view from the terrace is beautiful and relaxing. Great place for the golden circle and enjoying a bit of icelandic lifestyle.

“Cozy cabin with fantastic views” We spent three nights at the house, and loved every moment. We were well prepared for the isolation, and thankfully took the advice we were given to bring plenty of food with us. What surprised us was how well equipped and cozy the house was; we had been expecting something much more basic. We enjoyed making day trips around the area, and everyone (even the teenagers) enjoyed the sense of escape and immersion into an entirely new natural environment. The views over the water are lovely.

“Never wanted to leave, a magical place.” We absolutely loved this cabin, our entire experience was top notch from start to finish. The lovely ladies who own the cabin were so welcoming and were excellent at all correspondents. I would highly recommend this cabin, it's quirky, well equipped, cosy and made for a holiday of a lifetime. Loved the tub!!!!

“A brilliant place to get away from it all.” Brekka Lodge is located in an amazing surrounding. It is perched on the side of a mountain. There were three other lodges some distance away. There was hardly any noise to be heard, apart from the occasional passing car at the bottom of the mountain or a bird. From the lodge you can see the ocean, green bushes as far as the eye can see and snow capped mountains in the distance. The views from each window of the lodge were wonderful. The lodge itself is conveniently located so that you are able to see majority of the tourist sites by car. However, once you see the lodge, it's location, the scenery around and enjoy its' outdoor hot tub, you may not want too see the rest of the country. The couple who own and run the place are very helpful and understanding. They will go out of their way to make your stay in their property a memorable one. For example, we arrived at the lodge at around 3:00am and they had kindly purchased some essentials for breakfast on our behalf. The only negative thing I can think of from our perspective is that we could have done with another toilet as we were a large group. I would highly recommend this lodge but would warn occupants to notify the owners of any broken furniture they come across so to avoid any confusion about who is responsible. If life permits, I would love to go back again in a few years time to enjoy the northern lights.
