“The best apartment in Reykjavik!” We stayed in Reykjavik for a week and this place was amazing! Clean, well equipped, amazing views ( you can see Tjornin, Perlan and Halgrimskirkja) Ragnar was friendly and very helpful.
“Never wanted to leave, a magical place.” We absolutely loved this cabin, our entire experience was top notch from start to finish. The lovely ladies who own the cabin were so welcoming and were excellent at all correspondents.
I would highly recommend this cabin, it's quirky, well equipped, cosy and made for a holiday of a lifetime. Loved the tub!!!!
“A perfect cottage in which to feel at home.” This is a perfect cottage in which to feel at home whilst exploring the south west of Iceland. The views across the lake and to the surrounding hills are very special. It is well equipped and has a spacious living area and I would recommend paying the small extra fee for use of the hot tub after a day's trekking in the mountains or driving around the fjords. Iceland's highest waterfall, Glymur, is nearby and is well worth the walk. Haukur and anna Lisa, the hosts, are very helpful and friendly and we very much enjoyed our time in their summerhouse.
“Amazing stay” Siggi and Nana are wonderful, they made our time in Iceland the best part of our vacation. The use of the car was so great, and Siggi's tips were very helpful. We were in Iceland for the 1st game of the UEFA and got to enjoy the Icelandic win on the big screen in downtown Reykjavik. The people are kind and friendly, we would like to visit Siggi, Nana, and beautiful Iceland again next year!
“The joys of Dynjandi” As a boon to Ausländer, “Dynjandi” is one of the easier words in Icelandic to pronounce (“Ég tala ekki íslensku”). The “cottage” (actually two units — a main house and a smaller guest bungalow), looks out over broad decks onto a verdant field and a forked river containing an island visited by humane fishermen (despite willing fish, they never seem to catch anything), and a mostly unbroken horizon with only a few houses off the main sight lines.
The serenity is otherworldly. Far from the main road, the only sounds which intrude are the murmurings of the water and an occasional not-so-angry bird. Stay up past your bedtime to enjoy a glorious sunset, and moments thereafter a spectacular sunrise. Get no sleep.
Stay warm. Geothermic heat beneath the floorboards subtly and silently maintains a comfortable temperature. The hot tub, refreshed daily from the same inexhaustible hot water, restores to the body what the atmosphere extracts. Sulfur adds a rare bouquet.
Sigríður and Arni provide an elegantly equipped kitchen and lovely decor (despite a less-than-flattering portrait of Marilyn). They supplement all this with excellent advice, board games (if you need them), a library ranging from high-brow literature to romance rubbish.
They thoughtfully provided flawless August weather (like San Diego, only brisker), and prevented Bárðarbunga from ruining the end of our trip. Gnomes were surely present, but we didn’t meet any.
Make quick and easy excursions by car to top sites in Suðurland.
We look forward to our next visit, which hopefully Eyjafjallajökull or some other will not bring to a fiery end.
