The Cumbria/Lake District
The Cumbrian Lake District in the northwest of England is one of the most beautiful regions in the world and is made up of a series of lakes, mountain tarns and streams, and a mountain range that rises to a height of over 900 metres above sea level on nine summits. The Lake District became famous after a group of British poets made it their home at the beginning of the 19th century. The most famous of these poets are William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Robert Southey known collectively as the Lake Poets.
Detailed information & ideas for days out can be found on the Lake District Tourist & Cumbria Tourism Information Website: http://www.lake-district.org.uk (select, right click, copy & paste in web address). There is also plenty of literature at the cottage.
