The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The historic town of Kalkan is one of the most attractive locations along Turkey's renowned 'Turquoise Coast', often referred to the 'Pirate Coast' because of its many coves and islands. The Taurus Mountains surrounding the area provide a dramatic backdrop of considerable geographical interest and beauty. This is the fabled Lycian region rich in unspoilt cultural sites set in fertile plains - first-time visitors are in for a pleasant surprise!
Kalkan has cool rainy winters, but has a warm and mild Spring. Summers are hot and dry with the temperatures remaining high well into October and November. Visitors have recently been taking advantage of extended flight availability and fine weather to holiday outside the traditional season.
The Kalkan / Central Kalkan area
Kalkan is a small yet unique harbour town with unrivalled charm and character. A short walk down through the maze of cobbled streets lined with historic Greek and Turkish buildings covered in bougainvillea, soon reveals why Kalkan and its friendly people attracts the discerning time and time again.
Renowned for its moderately priced high-quality restaurants, dine in the roof-terrace restaurants, listen to live classical/jazz music, relax and enjoy the view of the harbour and bay. Wander past charming boutique shops or through the local market - there is plenty here to absorb.
Kalkan has a small attractive pebble beach, or visitors may choose one of the beach clubs set around this peaceful haven to relax at the waters edge. In the bay, the clear waters are ideal for all forms of water sports and boats can be hired for fishing, diving or lazy days at sea.
The famous Patara beach (20 kms of sand) is 30 mins from the villa; Kaputas cove, a secluded sandy beach at the foot of a ravine is 5 mins away.
The great classical sights of Xanthos, Patara, Pinara, Tlos and Letoon are all within easy reach.
Kalkan is a holiday destination which appeals on many fronts - historical, cultural or just relaxation.

Our first visit to Turkey and we were not disappointed. A beautiful country with lovely people only made better by our superb accommodation. This fabulous and roomy villa is very much a home from home with every available convenience. The very large master bedroom with its own bathroom both of which have magnificent views of the bay of Kalkan was a joy to wake up in. Sitting around the pool surrounded by the lovely gardens was relaxation personified. The weather in early June was perfect for us – hot enough to enjoy dipping in and out of the pool but not so hot to make it uncomfortable. Kalkan itself, a mere 10-15 minutes stroll away, has an abundance of restaurants to choose from – I think you could go to a different one every evening for a year. Each of the ones we chose was excellent with the staff taking the utmost care of my elderly mother. The trip in the “taxi” up to the hilltop restaurant was an experience and certainly provided an interesting tale to tell back home. My teenage daughter is hankering to return next year for two weeks. I can understand how she feels. We will definitely be returning! |

Review Title : - "Beautiful Villa with Fantastic views"
"My husband and I stayed at the Villa Kahili in August this year. It was fantastic! The villa itself was a home from home in the sun, it had every luxury one could wish for.
The views are amazing, and it is so nice to sit on the balcony with a gin and tonic in the early evening watching the boats come in. Talking about boats; a day out in a boat travelling around the area where you can swim in the clear sea, snorkel, eat and drink is a must for any visitor to Kalkan - a wonderful day out!
The villa is immaculately maintained by the pool boy and the cleaning staff, who do not speak much English but are like everyone we met very friendly and polite. The owners were also very helpful especially in regard to places to visit/eat during your stay, and can provide airport transfer or car hire with Xpress Tours who provide a very professional service.
I have fallen in love with Kalkan, and would not hesitate to return and to recommend this lovely villa to anyone. "

Review Title - "FANTASTIC HOLIDAY"
"My partner and I have just returned from the most wonderful two week holiday in Villa Kahili. The villa itself is beautiful. Its spotless and very well equipped with everything you would need for your stay. The views that you wake up to in the morning are amazing. The pool and garden guys are great and really helpful. The maids do a fantastic job cleaning everywhere and everything.
The owner arranged our airport transfers with a company called Express Tours and they were brilliant and the whole experiance was totally hassle free from start to finish.
The town of Kalkan is like a little jewel. The view as you come round the road in the taxi for the first time will take your breath away, its stunning!! and it just gets better from there. The people are so friendly and kind and will go out of their way to help you.
You are completely spoilt for choice with beautiful roof top restaurants in the town that serve really good food, but if you choose to BBQ at the villa which we did on numerous occasions you have a fantastic fresh fish market, greengrocer, butcher and several supermarkets for all your needs. We found Yali Supermarket had the most choice.
We went round to Patara beach, in a taxi, which is a beautiful stretch of sand if you fancy a change from the pool. Bus services run there all the time. Kalkan beach is fine but quite small and fine shingle so I can imagine it gets quite busy at peak season. There are free boat shuttle services that take you to several beach clubs as well.
I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful villa to anyone, so much so that my partner and I are thinking of returning again next year.
The only down side is that Kalkan has some very steep hills, so people with walking difficulites may fine it a problem. Its about a 10 minute walk into the town but a slow 20 minutes back up the hill, however saying that the taxis into town are very cheap if you cant do the walk. It cost about £5.
If you're hesitating about booking, dont!!!!! You will not be disappointed for one minute and like us you wont want to come home."

Review Title : 289244 - "Beautiful villa in stunning location"
"We stayed at Villa Kahili in July 2009 and had a fantastic holiday. The villa is beautifully furnished with amazing views, very well equipped and within easy walking distance into the centre of Kalkan. The walk back is much harder, being uphill but it kept us fit and worked off all those wonderful meals that we had in Kalkan's many restaurants!
We hired a car for the middle 9 days of our stay and managed well without one for the other days as the taxis are very cheap and there is lots to do in Kalkan. We would recommend both Kaputas and Patara beaches - both beautiful but very different. We also enjoyed Salklikent Gorge, the ruins at Xanthos and Kas (where we bought a carpet). We also took a moonlight boat trip from Kalkan harbour and enjoyed seeing life in the country villages inland, only a short drive from Kalkan.
The villa was also very well looked after during our stay, with the pool area being cleaned twice a day and the villa itself, twice a week. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
All in all, we were very pleasantly surprised by our stay in Kalkan, this being the first time we had been to Turkey. The locals are all very friendly, with service second to none. The food is also excellent as are the many lovely shops. It is a resort that is suitable for couples and families.
The villa owners also handled our booking very efficiently and everything was arranged perfectly for us. We have no hesitation in recommending Villa Kahili as a great location for a holiday in Kalkan."
"We've rented vacation homes in Peru,London,Greece Spain and the US - all very nice places, but yours was the best stocked and best organised of them all. The house was exactly as advertised. It was immaculate when we arrived, and the property management folks did a remarkable job of discretley providing support throughout the two weeks".
'We thought the villa was magnificent, beautifully furnished, light, airy and clean. The pool and patio areas were also very impressive'.
"We have just had a wonderful holiday in one of the nicest places I have been to - and I have travelled to a lot of nice places. Kalkan is absolutely picture perfect beautiful, and what can I say about your villa - it was an absolute pleasure staying there - even more stunning than the photos suggest."
"I will be putting a review on the website noting the professionlism in which this booking was made from start to finish - the transfers made were perfect - thank you to Xpress Tours."
"I would also like to make a special mention to the pool man - to come in twice a day to clean the pool and the patio/garden area was above all our expectations and it certainly made a big difference - the pool was a pleasure to swim in - it always felt clean and fresh - he was always extremely polite and discreet and I cannot thank you enough for including this service."
"We have just returned from a fantastic week in Turkey, this was our first visit to Turkey.
We were picked up as arranged from Airport and taken to Villa Kahili.
The villa is spotless and very well looked after. There are great views from all balconies, pool and patio area. There is everything you need in the villa with lots of thought gone into making your holiday as relaxing as possible. Kalkan is a lovely area and all the Shop and Restaurant owners are very friendly. From the villa it is about a ten minute walk into town (down hill ) and twenty back or a taxi ride. We would certainly return to Turkey and definitely return to this fantastic villa. From start to finish, everything was perfect."
