The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region
The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Marmaris to Antalya the coastline is gorgeous, the weather is beautiful and there are heaps of things to see and do. The Turquoise coast has become the first choice for many first time and repeat visitors to Turkey. Between Fethiye and Antalya there are a loads of sites worth seeing, Lycian , Dorian, Roman, whatever. Highlights include Myra, Simena, and just about everything in the Xanthos valley, not forgetting the magical site at Olympos. Your best bases for these excursions are probably Hisaronu or Kalkan, any further East and the Xanthos stuff starts to become a little hard to get to. The coastline is green and spectacular, the beaches are great and it is here, usually via Dalaman or Antalya airports, that the charter planes bring the bulk of Turkey's summer visitors. There are still plenty of places that not everyone gets to - Kalkan and the neighbourimg town of Kas being the most up market and least affected by mass tourism. You can hire a car or just get on the myriad of small buses running up and down the coast, the effort and expense will be repaid. British newspaper The Independent listed Kalkan among the best tourist destinations for 2007. The paper recommended Kalkan especially for those seeking a romantic vacation and who do not want to travel far from their home country in Europe.
The historic town of Kalkan is an enchanting place and one of the most beautiful locations along Turkey's gorgeous Lycian Coast. With the absence of mass tourism, Kalkan remains a charming and unspoiled haven of lush nature, brilliant blue crystal-clear sea, historic architecture, ancient history and warm traditional Turkish hospitality.
The area of Kalkan that Villa JaySea is located - Kiziltas - overlooks both the beautiful bays of Kalkan and Kalamar but is only a 10-15 minute easy walk (or 11TL 3 minute taxi ride!) down to the harbour and the buzzing old town.
Kalkan is an old fishing town, and the only safe harbor between Kas and Fethiye; it is famous for its white-washed houses, descending to the sea, its brightly colored bougainvilleas and its vast array of amazing roof terrace restaurants with spectacular sea and island views - it is said that it is impossible to get a bad meal in Kalkan!
Within its sheltered bay guests can enjoy the delights of a day (or 2 or 3!) onboard one of the many Gulet yachts or lounging at one of the 7 or more "Beach Clubs" and enjoying their watersport provision and restaurants. Further afield a trip to the amazing Saklikent Gorge makes a popular day trip, take a trip to the lovely town of Kas just 29km away along the scenic coastal road, visit the ancient sunken city of Kekova or head up into the mountains to visit a Trout Farm restaurant in the neighbouring mountain village of Islamar overlookimg Kalkan.
Four wheel drive safais, cannoing, learning to scuba dive and taking a trek on horseback on the nearby 18km long sandy beach at Patara are all popular visitor pastimes.
Kalkan averages 300 days of sunshine a year. Although part of the Antalya province administratively, Kalkan is connected more closely to Fethiye economically and for transportation.

Beautiful 5* villa in a lovely location. Had a fab week with friends in Jay Sea and cant wait to book my next visit and take my family.
The bedrooms are comfortable and well appointed with plenty of storage, the kitchen is well equipped. The villa has a luxurious yet comfortable feel and didn't take long to feel at home.

"Heaven in Kalkan"
The villa was everything we had anticipated and more. Lovely location above Kalkan, with beautiful sea views. Great layout, well equipped and beautifully decorated. We spent many happy hours lazing on the terrace and in the pool, the children also loved the air hockey and pool table!
There was also lots of advice on the local amenities and how to make the best of them, which was extremely helpful. Fantastic local taxi service and home delivered pizzas were a huge hit. The town is a lovely mix of traditional harbour village with little cobbled streets and quaint shops, great restaurants and a brilliant night club - Mojitos!
With a mix of teenagers and younger children, it might have been a challenge to please everyone, however the combination of the amenities at the villa and in the town meant that we all had a fantastic time. My favourite time was watching the sunset from the terrace with a nice cool glass of wine.
