This wonderfully restored Georgian country house offers the perfect retreat either for a quiet, luxurious weekend, or bring the house to life with festivities and party celebrations. Step through the classic entrance doors to Ewelme Manor and discover this beautiful Georgian home.
Designed by Anthony Keck in 1760 and once a 'Coming of Age' present to the late William Purnell, Ewelme Manor is the architect's earliest identifiable Gloucestershire country house, also closely associated with Highgrove, Berkeley Castle and Rodborough Manor to name just a few.
The perfect house for entertaining in style, with a superbly equipped kitchen, the Aga, with companion, warming the heart of the home, numerous impressive reception rooms, all with magnificent period open fireplaces, and a recently added outdoor pool complex with cinema room, provides a more contemporary 'spa like' feel and an additional entertaining area.
Start your day by taking morning tea under the verandah by the fountain. Enjoy a long, leisurely lunch with family and friends under the pergola on the south facing patio, overlooking the pool. Sip a cocktail before dinner in the study infront of the open fire and then dine with style in the 17th century dining room. Alternatively, you could just cosy up on a feather sofa in the 'snug' with the flickering flames of the woodburner, or settle down infront of a movie in the cinema room - the choice is yours to make.
Take the time to unwind in one of the marble-clad bathrooms in an elegant roll top bath before retiring to your choice of spacious bedrooms, sumptuously furnished. The perfect end to the perfect day!
Ewelme Manor even offers a 'feature bedroom' that your children will love!
With a huge variety of local attractions and sporting activities and entertainment, it makes Ewelme Manor the ideal choice for adult and family celebrations alike, steeped in English History and classic Cotswold charm.

The house sits in an elevated position in 8 acres of secluded gardens and paddocks, made up of several lawned areas bordered with flowerbeds. The garden stretches to the east along the line of the entrance drive where the sheep graze in the paddocks overlooking Uley Valley. The River Ewelme runs as a boundary line through the woodland that stretches along the bottom of the garden. The house overlooks a spring fed fountain with water from the stream that runs through the centre of the garden and forms small ponds in various places. Walking around the grounds is like walking around an aboretum. The main focal point being a magnificent Copper Beech thought to be over 250 years old cornering a lowered patio, with steps leading down to an avenue of yews, a specimen acer and an additional avenue of grand lime trees. A large magnolia shelters the stream on the lower lawn. It is a garden worth exploring at any time of year.

The Cotswolds region
The Cotswolds, also known as 'The Heart of England', are the hills and valleys that make up the two famous counties of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, drifting into the boundaries of some of the neighbouring counties. Literally translated as "sheep enclosure in rolling hillsides",The Cotswolds is an area characterised by attractive small towns and villages built of the underlying, famous golden coloured Cotswold stone. In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous as it still remains today, and some of this money was invested into the building of churches so the area has a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". Designated as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the rolling hills and hidden valleys hide picturesque villages, period Rectory's and Stately Homes nestled amongst, without a doubt, some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. Home to the Royals and with the famous cities of Bath, Cheltenham and Bristol on the doorstep, the area offers something for everybody - outdoor pursuits, scenic walks, city thrills or extreme sports. From the serenity of walking the Cotswold Way to a day out at Cheltenham Gold Cup, you won't be disappointed!
The house is situated in an elevated position with far reaching views across the Uley Valley, in a conservation area and a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The famous 'Cotswold Way' walk is directly outside the gates and if you prefer walking, a gentle stroll into the local town takes less than 8 minutes with all your local amenities at hand . There are a huge amount of local activities available to suit a wide variety of interests from relaxing to the more extreme sports, and many historical places of interest if you're looking for culture. From 'Highgrove' to 'Cheese Rolling', you'll find plenty to entertain.

"Magnificent Family Home"
The owners of this property were very helpful in accomodating our large family group which varied in age from 5 weeks to 90years!They made it very welcoming with lovely extras such as fresh flowers ,chocolates and champagne for the birthday duo, and freshly laundered bathrobes for all guests. The self contained unit by the pool was ideal for my aged parents - large walk in shower- all on one level -with lovely views- close enough to the kitchen(which is very well equipped) and main house and able to enjoy lovely entertaining area around the pool. The young children loved the large garden with trampoline and the pool. Dining Room is magnificent and seated 20 adults for celebratory dinner. The house has lots of character and is well situated for exploring places such as Tetbury Cirencester and National Trust properties. Sainsburys and other supermarkets are a 5 min drive or within walking distance and we used very good outside caterers for our main dinner.

"Luxery in every corner."
I must say that everything was considered in this manor house. We had twenty guest for my husband's 50th birthday celebration and everyone was accomodated in style. The details and decor made everyone feel like they were being pampered. The gounds were great for exploring and kept everyone entertained in spite of the bad weather. We enjoyed it so much we are thinking of making it an annual family get away.

"The perfect house-party feel"
We had a fabulous and memorable weekend and having Ewelme Manor as the venue played a major part in its success. From the outside the building and its grounds are genuinely beautiful, and inside it's pretty much perfect. The rooms are light and airy with a comfortable drawing room and dining room (16 for dinner was no squash at all) and the kitchen diner is simply stunning; a great deal of care had clearly been taken over the contemporary design. We used all 9 bedrooms available which were a pleasing mix of Cotswold tradition and modernity. Our visit was in early spring so a little chilly for sitting outside or swimming, but the look had us all dreaming of summer parties. It was a 10/10 winning experience.

"Incredibly gorgeous, stunning and homely all at once - a perfect glam party pad"
We all thought the house was utterly wonderful; gorgeous decor and facilities - there was literally a room for every necessity! We had a lovely time in the cinema room watching a film and sipping cosmopolitans, had an amazing catered dinner by candlelight in the formal dining room and enjoyed wine tasting in the sumptuous drawing room. Utterly perfect place for a party with friends or family alike. Thank you so much to the owners for making it so wonderful for us all.

"Awesome family get together, fabulous place for a weekend house party"
Family arrived from across the UK and Ireland to this wonderful house. A warm welcome from the owners, who showed us round and made us feel so welcome. Surprised me with a bottle of champagne, chocolates and flowers for my 60th birthday. By the time all 12 guests had arrived and chosen their bedrooms we were well settled for a fun weekend. Lots to do in the surrounding area, Slimbridge wildfowl park, Berkeley Castle, Stroud farmers market, direct access from grounds for walking the Cotswold way to mention just a few of the things we did. We self catered one night and then used one of the recommended caterers for dinner on Saturday, just great. We paid a bit extra for a hot tub which was wonderful in the chilly afternoon with yet more champagne for some. We didn't get round to using the cinema room or the table football, maybe next time. Candida and Stephen the owners made the booking process really easy and provided lots of info before we arrived. The house is even lovelier than it looks in the photos, and there is so much space we never felt crowded and there was always a peaceful space for those who needed to escape from the chatter for a while. Just wonderful. Beautiful decor, comfy beds, lovely feather duvets. Would love to visit in the summer to use the swimming pool and BBQ and outside dining area. Highly recommended.

"Exactly what we were hoping for"
Booked Ewelme Manor for a long weekend for my wife's 65th birthday to celebrate with 18 friends and family. Ewelme Manor turned out to be exactly what we were hoping for. A grand home with nine well appointed individual bedrooms with great character. We wanted to be able to have formal dinners in a beautiful setting which the dining room and lounges provided. Candida recommended Mint Catering who were excellent and Kristina provided great help on behalf of the owners. The kitchen was very well appointed and had everything we needed. Ewelme Manor is a house full of character and a quirky style which we loved.

I booked this Manor House for 17 people for my best friend's hen weekend and I cannot rate it highly enough. I knew it was going to be amazing from the photos but they really don't do it justice. The house is absolutely, unbelievably incredible - the party turned up in dribs and drabs and every single person was amazed as they took the tour. We were blessed with good weather on the Friday so were able to spend time lounging by the pool - we felt like we were in a luxury Spanish villa. Unfortunately there were torrential storms on Friday night and the rain kept up on Saturday morning but we still used the pool - it just made the experience more interesting! We went to a local pub (The Old Spot in Dursley) for lunch on Saturday, also highly recommended as they were very accommodating and the food was fantastic. The weather cleared up again so we did more pool lounging on Saturday afternoon, followed by hen do games and a bit of a party in the evening. There was even a cinema room in the pool house to play a recorded version of Mr & Mrs! This is the ultimate house for a group of friends to get together and just have a fantastic time - the house, the grounds, the pool, everything was just amazing and I can't think of one negative thing to say. Candida was amazing all the way through, so helpful and even left a bottle of champagne and strawberries out with a card for the hen. What a lovely touch! I can't recommend this house highly enough - for a large group of people you'll only end up spending what you would on an average hotel per night and it's more than worth it!

"Stunning! Couldnt have asked for a better weekend!"
The extravagant gated driveway and the long meander up to the house gives the feeling of what you are to expect upon arrival at Ewelme Manor. We were greeted with a gorgeous arrival gift of Champagne, strawberries and chocolates giving the sense that the owners truly welcomed us into their home and wishes us a pleasant stay. Every room within the house is perfectly decorated, in its own theme, with oodles of space for your party. There was never a sense of being uncomfortable during our stay. The house was completely fully furnished, even down to ice trays meaning that our party did not want for anything. We were completely taken care of. The outdoor heated pool and surrounding patio area was perfect for lazy days in the sunshine followed by BBQ’s and outdoor games, which took place away from the house with plenty of space for a game or two of rounders. The pool house containing cinema and wet room were an added surprise and were often frequented when things became too hectic and a sit down was needed. Everything we could of asked for 20 ladies to enjoy a fabulous weekend!! Thank you to the owners Stephen and Candida for all the personal touches, taking care of all of our requests and of course the gorgeous weather :o)

"Superb venue for a special occasion"
I had read many of the previous reviews and so was expecting something rather special. I can honestly say my expectations were exceeded! I had booked the weekend to celebrate with our family my 70th and we were 10 adults with 8 grandchildren aged 3-17 years. The house was an ideal venue. Everything was spotlessly clean, the bedrooms and bathrooms were elegantly arranged and the kitchen was very well equipped. Being in the middle of the World Cup the boys loved the huge television projector in the Pool Room. The heated outside swimming pool was very popular and there was plenty of outside space for our energetic grandchildren. The owners, Stephen and Candida were very friendly and helpful. Any emails or phone calls prior to the event were responded to quickly. I would strongly recommend Ewelme Manor for any similar celebration.
