This wonderfully restored Georgian country house offers the perfect retreat either for a quiet, luxurious weekend, or bring the house to life with festivities and party celebrations. Step through the classic entrance doors to Ewelme Manor and discover this beautiful Georgian home.

Designed by Anthony Keck in 1760 and once a 'Coming of Age' present to the late William Purnell, Ewelme Manor is the architect's earliest identifiable Gloucestershire country house, also closely associated with Highgrove, Berkeley Castle and Rodborough Manor to name just a few.

The perfect house for entertaining in style, with a superbly equipped kitchen, the Aga, with companion, warming the heart of the home, numerous impressive reception rooms, all with magnificent period open fireplaces, and a recently added outdoor pool complex with cinema room, provides a more contemporary 'spa like' feel and an additional entertaining area.

Start your day by taking morning tea under the verandah by the fountain. Enjoy a long, leisurely lunch with family and friends under the pergola on the south facing patio, overlooking the pool. Sip a cocktail before dinner in the study infront of the open fire and then dine with style in the 17th century dining room. Alternatively, you could just cosy up on a feather sofa in the 'snug' with the flickering flames of the woodburner, or settle down infront of a movie in the cinema room - the choice is yours to make.

Take the time to unwind in one of the marble-clad bathrooms in an elegant roll top bath before retiring to your choice of spacious bedrooms, sumptuously furnished. The perfect end to the perfect day!

Ewelme Manor even offers a 'feature bedroom' that your children will love!

With a huge variety of local attractions and sporting activities and entertainment, it makes Ewelme Manor the ideal choice for adult and family celebrations alike, steeped in English History and classic Cotswold charm.

The Central England/Cotswolds region

The Cotswolds, also known as 'The Heart of England', are the hills and valleys that make up the two famous counties of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, drifting into the boundaries of some of the neighbouring counties. Literally translated as "sheep enclosure in rolling hillsides",The Cotswolds is an area characterised by attractive small towns and villages built of the underlying, famous golden coloured Cotswold stone. In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous as it still remains today, and some of this money was invested into the building of churches so the area has a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". Designated as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the rolling hills and hidden valleys hide picturesque villages, period Rectory's and Stately Homes nestled amongst, without a doubt, some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. Home to the Royals and with the famous cities of Bath, Cheltenham and Bristol on the doorstep, the area offers something for everybody - outdoor pursuits, scenic walks, city thrills or extreme sports. From the serenity of walking the Cotswold Way to a day out at Cheltenham Gold Cup, you won't be disappointed!

There are a huge amount of local activities available to suit a wide variety of interests from relaxing to the more extreme sports, and many historical places of interest if you're looking for culture. "You have to book this house! best weekend ever!"

Have nothing but great things to say about this beautiful, beautiful house and its amazing owners! We have just returned from a hen party with 18 ladies and everyone was blown away . Nothing was too much trouble for the owners including putting up the most magnificent Christmas tree in the middle of March!!! The house and the grounds are just incredible and we can't wait to go back!

"Luxurious Manor house steeped in country chic"

I booked Ewelme Manor for a friend's birthday almost a month prior to staying at the manor

Having booked Ewelme Manor a month previously for a friend's birthday, I was soon in contact with it's wonderful custodian and owner; Candida. Candida saw to it that any and all our specific needs were taken care of, eager to answer any question, always contactable and professional to the last.

One month later and upon arrival, our party descended upon the house, or rather ascended! It's huge! The pictures do not do it justice - we were amazed at the scale of the manor, not to mention the quality. Again every whim had been catered for, and we were greeted by a bottle of champagne, chocolates and clean white robes with which to enshrowed ourselves after use of any one of the impressive bathrooms.

We soon settled in next to the roaring log fires, easing into the cosy sofas and country lifestyle with ease.

I would not hesitate to recommend a stay at Ewelme and only wish for the chance to stay again. You will not forget it in a hurry!

"Magical wedding weekend"

My new husband and I found Ewelme Manor after a long and tiring search for our wedding venue. As soon as we saw the beautiful grounds, with its interesting nooks and crannies, we knew we'd found the perfect place. Ewelme Manor manages to be a stunning property with special features without feeling too grand. It has a homely, intimate feel to it as well.
The property does not typically host weddings nor is it adapted really to host large functions. So as you might imagine, planning to host a marquee wedding reception for 140 guests posed certain challenges! We approached Candida and Stephen in January with our wedding reception idea and they proved invaluable in helping us plan the best weekend of our lives. Candida in particular was exceptional. She answered every one of my questions, proved herself gracious and very accommodating in allowing my (and other suppliers) several visits to the Manor to plan and her attention to detail came second only to my obsessive bridal planning :-)
We had our differences in this process, namely a matter regarding the suitability of the grounds to house a flat floored marquee. But even during our disagreement Candida remained respectful and keen to maintain the good relationship that had been established between us.
Our weekend truly was unique and just would not have been possible without the help of Candida and Stephen. We feel so lucky to have been able to host our wedding reception at such a beautiful place and now have treasured memories that have set us well on our way in married life. Perhaps we'll come back on our 10yr wedding anniversary :-) Many thanks again. Xx

"Incredible property and amazing service- would highly recommend !!"

I booked Ewelme Manor for a sophisticated Hen Do for 14 people in early August. From start to finish Candida efficiently and effortlessly helped me out with all arrangements, she was highly accommodating and came up with some great recommendations about things to do in the nearby area. We were also given thorough information and directions on how to get to the property and information in regards to everything we needed for our stay. I couldn't of asked for a better service. The property its self is spectacular, for once the pictures don't do it justice! The whole hen party were very impressed with the luxurious surroundings and amenities and by the end nobody wanted to leave ! I can't wait to plan my next trip to Ewelme Manor and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a special and memorable weekend away with friends and family.

"Beautiful house ,luxurious facilities in a lovely setting"

On arrival we were greeted and shown around to beautifully presented rooms, a house full of flowers and a celebratory bottle of champagne, balloon and card. The facilities were so good that every member of the family was happy and occupied all week. The heated pool was a hit with the grandchildren and the cinema with the adults. There were also quiet spaces for those members who wanted a rest from the youngsters! The gardens are also lovely and the children loved 'exploring' in a safe environment.

"Beautiful House & Gardens - Exceeded all Expectations!"

Absolutley perfect for a special occasion, every need and want was catered for with extra special touches such as the roses on the beds and the Champagne on arrival. Luckily the weather was good and we were able to make use of the fantastic pool and surrounding land for our sports day. We walked up to the top of the Cam Peak (recommended by Stephen & Candida) and the views were stunning over looking the River Severn, it is not a walk for the light hearted though! Stephen & Candida were nothing but helpful and we would all love to go back one day. I can't rate it highly enough!
