“Beautiful, Warm & Welcoming” We set out on a journey to discover our heritage and see if we had any living relatives in Co. Mayo Ireland. We arrived on an unseasonably cold and blustery day so when we opened the door to the house and were welcomed by the warmth of heat we were delighted. Teach Mo Chroi' was our home base but turned out to be so much more. It is truly a lovely home. The rooms were very spacious and the beds incredibly comfortable after a long day of touring. The kids enjoyed playing soccer and especially the tire swing, but the highlight was watching the fathers and sons play basketball together. It turned out to be one of the best family vacations we've ever taken. There were so many places to visit in the area; a boat ride from ashford Castle to the island was among our favorites. But don't miss Ballintubber abbey, Achill Island, Climbing Croagh Patrick and especially the nightlife in Westport town. Everything was so easily accessible and convenient. The home is furnished with everything you could possibly need or want for cooking, and with so many Satellite channels it was easy to keep the kids entertained. Maura our hostess was warm and friendly and helpful. We were especially impressed with how clean the home was when we arrived and how easily it handled our large group of 11 adults & children. I will recommend the home to others and hope we can find another excuse to visit again in the future. If there was any disappointment it was that we were unable to find any living relatives but our visit to Mayo and Teach Mo Chroi more than made up for that disappointment.

“Comfortable, cosy cottage in a beautiful scenic location” We were looking to have a relaxing family break in nice surroundings and that is exactly what we got! Old Farm Cottage is a charming little place with all we needed for our stay. Welcome basket was most appreciated and we particularly loved the eggs! Hugh was most helpful and friendly and ensured we had everything we needed. Thanks so much.

“Rockview house” Great house for a family. All mod cons. We especially appreciated the WiFi as we had typical changeable Irish weather! Great spot for exploring the West! Nuala was so helpful and kind and gave us lots of ideas to do in the wet weather. Provided loads of wood and coal for the lovely stove. Definitely recommend for old cottage charm.

“Well worth a five rating” In totally honesty, this was a fantastic place to stay. Sea view of Clare Island alone was worth it. Location fantastic, peaceful surroundings yet minutes from the village which has good restaurants and an excellent chippy. We were a party of 8 adults, 1 child and Kobe our dog. After a long drive and very tired, arriving at the property and still having to cook 9 steaks for dinner, I was dreading the thought… but great kitchen facilities, the double ovens really helped immensely! Accommodation spotlessly clean. Nice comfortable beds. I have had welcome gift packs, in many places in the past but Eammon’s goodie box lasted us for the whole trip…supplied with popcorn, bombay mix, sweets, hot chocolate and loads of other treats, thanks for spoiling us…you really made us feel welcome.

“A beautiful secluded place to rest and play in wild and wonderful Achill Island.” I absolutely enjoyed staying in this house, the open fire, the massive windows, the views. This is the perfect 'getaway from it all' location, a place to retreat from the madness. It seemed that every preparation was made to ensure the optimal enjoyment for each and every guest. A magical place. I'll be back!

“Wonderful holiday in this quaint charming cottage” Situated in the village with a short drive to Traught beach, a beautiful blank sandy beach on the wild Atlantic way. The cottage had everything we needed and the kids loved it. We had a fantastic time and Michael the owner was wonderful and so accommodating. We would definitely visit again.

“5* haven in the midst of a Western Irish Winter” Stayed over New Year to be near family. Party included teenager, mother and family dog. Age range 13-72 and inbetween, but needs of all , including the dog, were catered fully accomodated. Mary gave us a warm Irish welcome on arrival. The warm and cosy cottage was so inviting after a treacherous journey across the Irish Sea and gale force winds battering the country. Unfortunately for first few days we all suffered with flu. However, the warmth and amenities of the cottage meant that no-one had to set foot outside to be entertained. Comfy beds..wifi..games room..sky tv..grand piano and beautiful inglenook fireplace made for coach potato heaven.Plenty of reception rooms for the family to call and visit us for a change. Everything was as described on the websites. It lived up to our expectations. Hope to come again very soon when maybe the weather is less severe and we get to explore outside the cottage.
