“Great holiday, good location, lovely cosy cottage and extremely friendly owners.”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2014

First visit to Northumbria and we weren't disappointed. Southmede cottage was as advertised, it was extremely clean, light and cosy and in a good location opposite Warkworth Castle- only 10 minutes walk to all amenities. The cottage had everything you required and a great deal more - the owners had thought of everything! All the windows in the property faced a lovely, well stocked garden and it was good to have morning coffee on the patio and listen to the birds. Carol and Mike were extremely friendly/helpful and lived next door - this was not an issue as they gave you your privacy, but were there if you needed anything. Lots to do in this beautiful area and our dog loved the beaches - there are three dog friendly places to eat in Warkworth - the best was the Warkworth Hotel. Will definitely be back as we all enjoyed so much. Paul, Pauline & Archie (Border Terrier) - Arnside, South Lakes, Cumbria.

“Lovely property, Historical Sites”

This was a lovely holiday, the cottage was warm and welcoming and the location was perfect. Nothing was more than 40 minutes away, with beautiful castles and sites almost everywhere you looked! Highly recommend the "Hooked" restaurant in Alnmouth, absolutely sensational!

This lovely cottage was of a high standard with corner bath, four poster bed and log burner. Ideally located for coastal walks and the welcome hamper was a nice touch. The owners were friendly and welcoming.

“Ideal dog-friendly cottage for two in a lovely location”

Reviewed 5 Jan 2014

We stayed at Southmede Cottage over the New Year week, and were delighted with the personal touches provided by the owners. The cottage was very clean and the owners very helpful. It was the wrong time of year to make full use of the wonderful garden, but the cottage location was ideal for the lovely Northumbrian beaches and castles. We will definitely be back.

“fabulous cottage and garden in the beautiful village warkworth”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2013

The cottage has everything you would ever need and the enclosed garden plus summerhouse are superb. Quiet location. A few minutes walk into the village passing the spectacular castle. There is a lovely river walk and only a mile from super beaches. We have stayed here on numerous occasions over the last 5 years and highly recommend it.

“Perfect retreat”

Reviewed 15 Mar 2013

Southmede Cottage is a brilliant cottage on the Northumberland coast at Warkworth, Everything that you could possibly require is provided by Carol and Mike, the owners. Nothing is too much trouble, and they are on hand if required with valuable information about everything to do in and around the area. Access and parking are first-class, and the adjacent garden is perfect for sitting out. The cottage itself has a double-bedroom, central heating and is very well laid out The beaches in this part of the country are lovely and clean, and quiet. There are a number of castles and places of historic interest to visit. Warkworth Castle is well worth a visit, and only 200 yards away! The village of Warkworth has 4 pubs, two of which we know do excellent food, and there are three restaurants that also open on various evenings during the week. This is a beautiful part of the country and Southmede Cottage is the perfect base from which to explore it.
