Location description from owner

The England region

Because of its abundance of orchards and hop gardens, Kent is traditionally known as 'The Garden of England' It is also the location for the dramatic White Cliffs of Dover and 'the Gateway to Europe'. Kent is in the south-eastern corner of England and borders Greater London to the north, Sussex to the west and France across the straights of Dover. Kent is one of the warmest parts of Britain and the general countryside consists of rolling green hills, picture postcard villages, oast houses and a wealth of historical sites and tourist attractions.

Canterbury and its magnificent cathedral is a popular tourist destination where parts of the city have been designated a UNECSO World Heritage Site. Kent has one of the longest and most varied coastlines in England with some of the finest heritage sites in the country, together with exceptional sites of international importance for wildlife. These include towering cliffs, lonely marshlands, popular holiday towns, international ports and tiny harbours.

St Margaret's Bay

St Margaret's Bay is a beautiful leafy coastal village surrounded by National Trust Land in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is conveniently positioned between Deal and Dover and only 30 minutes drive to historic Canterbury and Sandwich. The fast train connects to London in 1 hour from Dover and day trips to France by ferry or the Channel Tunnel are an easy option.

Dover, Deal and Walmer Castles are only 15 minutes by car and can also be reached on foot along many of the varied cliff-top and coastal walks. The area is rich in historic houses, gardens and is surrounded by many traditional character villages. It is a perfect base to explore the garden of England by car or relax and enjoy the fabulous views from the patio. Many of the cliff-top and woodland walks begin on the doorstep - walks such as Frontline Britain, The Saxon Shore Way and the Kent Coastal Trail.

The shingle beach is only 100 metres from Calais View - so close you can hear the waves breaking on the beach.

“A little piece of heaven”

Reviewed 19 Mar 2017

Wow where do we start. This place was amazing, it was everything and more. The place was lovely right on the edge of the white cliffs. We sat one morning and just watched the boats in the Channel which you can see from the bedroom. It was so relaxing. It was so peaceful as well. The apartment had everything you need and more. Where else can you go and you can even use their phone to make your calls. The hosts lived upstairs and never bothered us once but we knew they were there if we needed them. The welcome pack was a bonus as well. A lot of thought went into this apartment and we can't wait to go back. Thank-you to Jenny and Tim. We need to come back soon xx Thanks again. Clare and Desx

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for your positive review. We are glad you had the chance to relax and enjoy the views. We are pleased the telephone in the apartment came in useful, as the mobile signal is poor due to our close proximity to the white cliffs. The free telephone package we have provided for our guests allows for national and international calls to landlines and mobiles. We felt this was essential due to the poor mobile signal in the area. We hope to see you again in the future. Many thanks Jenny and Tim je
