The North Wales region

The North Wales region is made up of the Isle of Anglesey, Llandudno and Colwyn Bay, Coastal North East Wales , North East Wales and Snowdonia. Milverton Cottage is set in an absolutely superb location, not only with stunning views of the Menai Straits, but is a great base to stay to explore the whole of Anglesey and North Wales too, so easy to get to Snowdonia for climbing and winter mountaineering, the Zip Wire at Bethesda, the Electric Mountain at LLanberis and the very pretty and interesting Italian village at Portmerion. Anglesey or Ynys Mon is an island of outstanding beauty off the North West coast of Wales. Milverton Cottage is set in a fantastic position, elevated just a few metres away from the Menai Straits, and just a few minutes walk to all the amenities of Menai Bridge which include excellent eating places, water sports, shops, pubs etc

Once a year the small town of Menai Bridge ( called Porthaethwy in Welsh) hosts the Menai Bridge Seafood Festival in August, the Island Race, which is the half marathon race, at the beginning of March, and the Menai Bridge Fair and the Menai Bridge Carnival. There are also many small islands near to the town including Church Island, where you can visit the ancient church of St Tysilio, and it's a gorgeous walk along by the Straits from Milverton Cottage along the Belgian Promenade looking out onto the water which is the natural habitat of a great many birds, until you get to Church Island. Anglesey boasts a 125 mile coastline of outstanding beauty, with breathtaking scenery and has many fantastic unspoilt sandy beaches along its coast, which are certainly worth a visit at any time of the year. “Comfortable cottage with amazing views”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2017

I have stayed with my family in Milverton for the last three years and we all love it. It comfortably slept 6 adults and there was plenty of space for us to relax and enjoy our time there. The kitchen is very well equipped - I have stayed in many places with "fully equipped" kitchens and this is far superior. The house has everything that you can need and more but the real star of the show is the view. The house overlooks the Menai straits where you can see the beautiful Menai Bridge, watch boats go by, the tide come in, and even see the occasional scuba diver. I couldn't recommend Milverton, and the owner Anne, any higher.

Owner's reply: Thanks very much for your lovely review and it's always very special to welcome guests back time after time and so pleased you've already booked to come back and stay at Milverton for a 4th time in 2018! Good to hear you all love staying at the cottage and find it all very well equipped because we've always taken on board anything that guests staying there feel we are missing and try and provide that, so hopefully now I think we have probably got everything anyone could possibly need while staying there. And yes agree that the real star of the show is the view, something that I don't think anyone could ever tire of because it's ever changing with always something interesting to look at, either from the comfort of the cottage or when relaxing out in the garden. Will very much look forward to welcoming you back in a years time! Anne and Gerald.

“A Perfect Spot”

Reviewed 3 Mar 2017

Lovely cottage in a perfect location overlooking the Menai Straits. Extremely comfortable spotlessly clean and well equipped, especially the kitchen which has everything you could want. Mind you there are so many great places to eat nearby you may not bother cooking! Thank you for such a wonderful stay I would definitely come again.

Owner's reply: Thanks so much for your lovely review and so pleased to hear you enjoyed staying at Milverton and thought it was the perfect location with the lovely view of the ever changing Menai Straits. Glad you found the cottage spotlessly clean and found everything you needed and thought the kitchen was very well equipped as we've tried hard to think of everything anyone would need while staying there, to make their stay as easy and as comfortable as possible. And yes although it's lovely to sit and have a meal in the dining room looking straight out onto the Straits, it's great to have so many different good places to eat, so if you don't want to cook, you don't have to, and all within a short walk of the cottage which means you are completely spoilt for choice! Pleased you would like to come and stay again as you would be extremely welcome. Anne and Gerald.

“Perfect Respite from busy London Life”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2017

Based looking onto Menai Bridge this idyllic cottage is a perfect place to relax, unwind and re-balance when everything is catching up with you. We should know as this is our 5th visit to Milverton Cottage and yet again we felt like we appreciated every minute. Already this part of the world is quiet, the most obvious sound coming from the menai straits running just outside the bedroom windows. After going on one of the Rib Ride tours with Charles, just around the corner, we found out that the current is strong, very strong and that the water is constantly changing direction and forming mini whirlpools. You can stare at this view outside of the living room for hours and feel content and relaxed. I am not one to stay still regularly for long however so we decided to go on several walks, the best being between the two bridges or taking a trip to Newborough beach. Amazing views, you'll need good walking shoes or perhaps wellies depending on what time of year you are going and what the weather is like. As for the owners, Anne is always helpful but I really never need to contact her whilst we are there as everything is there already. Never had a problem, thanks again Anne!! Waitrose within 1/4 mile, 4 pubs, great local fish & chips, Dylans is a great local restaurant if you want to eat out. Otherwise take a trip to The Bulls Head in Beaumaris, also amazing ice-cream at The Red Boat. The cottage has great water pressure, easy to use cooker, oven and heating/hot water. Cannot wait until our next visit.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely review and it's been so nice to welcome you back to Milverton for your 5th visit! You are becoming one of our many regular visitors to the cottage, which is lovely. And pleased to hear that it's the perfect place to relax, unwind and rebalance from busy London life! Good to hear you enjoyed going on a rib ride right past the cottage and loved the lovely views looking straight out onto the Menai Straits! Newborough Beach is definitely my favourite Anglesey beach because you can walk for miles and miles looking at the fabulous views across the water of the Welsh mountains. Pleased you found all the many amenities of Menai Bridge good and very convenient that they are all within walking distance of the cottage, but you also discovered some of the delights of Beaumaris, which has lots to offer and is only a few miles away. Good to hear you would like to come and stay at Milverton again as its always lovely to welcome back past guests to the cottage. Anne and Gerald

“Wow wow wow..... amazing!”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2017

From the minute you open the front gates your breath is taken away, what a view! We went for a weeks long winter break from work and what a better place to relax. The water in front of the cottage is constantly moving and changing, you could spend all day gazing at it. Watching the water from the cottage you feel like your floating on a boat, just wonderful. We also enjoyed long walks around the island, our favourite walk is between the two bridges. The cottage is very well equipped, spotlessly clean and the owner couldn't be more helpful with recommendations. This is our third visit and there is so much more of the island to see. Wether you want a relaxing cozy winters get away or to sit out in the courtyard on a sunny day this cottage is the perfect place.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your brilliant review and so pleased to hear you enjoyed your 3rd visit to Milverton and again found everywhere well equipped and spotlessly clean, and a great place to relax, whichever time of year that you go and stay at the cottage. Looking out onto the ever changing and constantly moving water of the Menai Straits is always very therapeutic and a real time waster, which I don't think you would never tire of! Pleased to hear you enjoyed some nice long walks around the island as it's an area of outstanding beauty but also that you enjoyed the walk on your doorstep between the two bridges. As you say, there is still lots of the island left to see, so hope you will be able to return soon to do so, and will be able to enjoy sitting out in our lovely garden in the sunshine overlooking the water! Anne and Gerald

“Home from home .... a perfect property in a great location”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2016

This was our 2nd stay at Milverton and definitely won't be our last. Anne was extremely helpful and welcoming, making sure that the house was as we would expect. The property is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortably furnished.....a lovely place to come back to after a day exploring Anglesey and the Snowdonia National Park. There's nothing better than preparing a meal in the open plan kitchen/living area and then sitting down to eat in the dining room overlooking the Menai Bridge. We would recommend visiting Dylans for a meal and making the short drive to Beaumaris for crabbing with the kids off the end of the pier. Huge thank you to Anne for an amazing holiday in this wonderful house.

Owner's reply: Thanks very much for your lovely review. It's always our pleasure to particularly welcome back guests who have stayed at Milverton before, as it's lovely for us when they come back and stay again and again because it obviously means that they love the cottage and location as much as we do! Glad to hear you enjoyed eating in the dining room looking out onto the Menai Straits and also enjoyed a meal at the nearby Dylans, as that is certainly our favourite place to eat out for a treat. Also that you enjoyed taking your children crabbing off the pier at Beaumaris as that is something we used to spend many a holiday doing, when our own children were younger! Good to hear that your second visit won't be your last, and so we very much look forward to welcoming you back to Milverton again whenever you would like to holiday in Anglesey. Anne and Gerald.

“AMAZING COTTAGE IN A PERFECT LOCATION”

Reviewed 27 May 2014

 My wife and I recently had the pleasure to stay at Milverton Cottage for 10 nights. We were expecting a nice place before we got there just by looking at the pictures of the cottage. Once we arrived we were speechless. The Cottage is immaculate and equipped with all the latest fixtures and conveniences. The location provides a breathtaking unobstructed view of both the Menai Straights and the Menai Bridge. The owners of Milverton (Anne and Gerald) were extremely helpful in making sure we could get our bearings quickly. They were also very interested to make sure we had everything we needed. We have rented several properties both in Wales and around the world and this is by far the most special of all. We will most definitely plan on a return visit and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting this wonderful part of the world.
