Description

Ty Adeiladwr Cwch (the Boat Builder's house) is a perfect blend of a traditional 200 year old Welsh cottage with a brand new spacious extension. It is located in Llanddona, a quiet village with traditional local pub on the headland of Red Wharf Bay only a few miles from the picture-postcard coastal town of Beaumaris. The vast sandy LLanddona beach is only 10 minutes drive away (or 20 mins walk down a steep hill) and is great for sandcastle building, as well as for walks and watersports.

The house has ample gardens to the front, rear and side, giving plenty of scope for hide and seek, or to enjoy a relaxing drink on the front lawn admiring the view. There are stunning views of the Snowdonia mountain range, from the front lawn and windows, beautifully captured through the French windows of the upstairs lounge and master bedroom. Downstairs in the old cottage is the Lamp-room, a cosy lounge with wood-burning stove to curl up with a book or film, or if you are feeling like a bit more

Downstairs in the old cottage is the Lamp-room, a cosy lounge with wood-burning stove to curl up with a book or film, or if you are feeling like a bit more activity there is a games room with a pool table.

Layout is kitchen/dining room, lounge, games room, utility room, shower room, hall and porch downstairs. The recently refurbished spacious kitchen-dinner has a brand new range-style cooker and new fridge with patio doors onto the front garden. Family bedroom (double plus bunk beds), double bedroom, twin bedroom, double bedroom with en suite, family bathroom and additional lounge (with double sofabed) upstairs. For additional flexibility there are two single fold-down beds and a travel cot. Upstairs lounge and master bedroom have vaulted ceilings and French windows. The large porch at the entrance has full size glass windows on two sides and doubles as a garden room to relax with your morning coffee. There are two dining tables - one in the dining/kitchen that seats twelve and another in smaller table in the large hall.

Please note that besides the ample gardens surrounding the cottage, there a large plot of additional garden land. (It is seperated from the side-garden by a row of mature trees.) It does house a caravan but this is not let commercially and only used as an overspill when the owners are staying at the cottage. So feel free to use this extra garden space, which includes a large netted trampoline. There is also a climbing frame with slide in the side garden.

There is plenty of room to park at least four cars - additional parking may be available on request.

Free WiFi available.

Location description from owner

The North Wales region

The Isle of Anglesey in North Wales is a hop across one of the two bridges from the university city of Bangor and boasts over 100 miles of spectacular coastline, within an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is easily accessible by road and rail or ferries to Holyhead (from Ireland). Recently home to the young royals Prince William and Kate, Anglesey has something to offer for everyone - from family holidays on the many beaches, watersports, fishing, horse riding and castles to the Sea zoo and racetrack. There are many small coves and areas to be explored, where you can get away from the beaten track, or you can join in with local activities and festivals.

Llanddona

The property is in a quiet village, Llanddona, on the headland of Red Wharf Bay. There is an excellent pub literally a few minutes walk from the house where food and drink can be enjoyed. They host events including the annual beer festival and weekly fish and chip night! The village also has riding stables - let the owners know if you need further details as it is tucked away down a side-road. Llanddona beach is down a steep hill about 20 minutes walk/5-10 mins drive away. It is an enormous, picturesque sandy beach that is part the large Red Wharf Bay area and is popular with families, as well as for watersports, especially kite-surfing, wind-surfing, kite buggying and land-sailing. There is a small cafe selling drinks, ice-creams etc and toilet faclities. There are many other coves and coastal paths to be explored nearby. The nearest town from Llanddona is Beaumaris, a picture-postcard town on the Menai Straits (the stretch of water between Anglesey and the mainland), with an impressive castle, harbour, pier, shops, bars, restaurants and pastel-coloured houses. Crab fishing is very popular on the local pier and the Italian style ice-cream shop must be sampled! There is a bus service to Beaumaris and to the city of Bangor from Llanddona or local taxis are available. Bangor is only about about 15 mins drive from Llanddona for a wider variety of shops and facilities and the Snowdonia mountain range -popular for hiking, bike-riding, kayaking, white-water rafting, amazing scenery and the mountain railiway up Snowdon - is about 30 mins drive.

“everything you could want and more!”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2016

we stayed in this beautiful house for a new year break, there was 6 adults and 5 children and there was more then enough space for us all and it still didn't feel over occupied, the bedrooms were all a good size, the upstairs lounge area was amazing with beautiful views, the children and adults loved the games room! the kitchen was the heart of the house, it was very well equipped with all utensils. the walk to the beach is down a steep hill but the scenery was outstanding, the local pub is definitely worth a visit .. I would recommend this house it was perfect.

“Perfect”

Our group of 9 stayed here for my Girlfriends 30th Birthday weekend. The House is lovely, spacious and clean. The Kitchen was a perfect size for our group drinks and breakfast. The games room has a Table tennis/Pool table that made for hours of entertainment. The Spacious Living room upstairs has a lovely view of Snowdonia and there's also another cozy, smaller living room downstairs with a log fire. None of us got under each others feet as the house is big enough to find your own little corner for quiet time if needed. The whole group loved the house and made the most of our time there although 2 nights just wasn't enough.

“Brilliant holiday for all 3 generations”

This is a great spacious family house in a superb location 3 miles from beautiful Beaumaris. The beds are comfortable and the huge well supplied kitchen is a gem! Add the bonus's of a utility room and a pool room and you couldn't ask for more when holidaying with teenage and infant grandchildren. The village pub is in easy walking distance, is welcoming, and serves good food at a very reasonable price. The owners are easy to contact and that makes a huge difference. Great time whatever the weather.

“Lovely large house with every "home comfort" and beautiful views.”

We had a great holiday here - the house was very clean and obviously cared for. The kitchen adn utility room provided for every need - massive oven, dishwasher, washing machines and tumble drier. The owners have helpfully collected brochures of places to go and a list of restaurants and also provide a good variety of board games. We would definitely recommend this property to others.

“Nice and spacious for two families”

Had a great stay at Easter, Shame about the weather though ! Clean and spacious house. Ideal for two families of 4 with teenagers. Cooking facilities are fine with plenty of saucepans and tins etc like home from home really. The little blue sign on the floor when you arrive at the house is hard to see when you first arrive, but once you know its all good.

“Lovely well- equiped house with amazing views”

Had never visited Anglesey before but really glad we did. House was well- equipped and the pool table and trampoline were big hits. Amazing views from front garden. Everyone should try crabbing off Beaumarais pier it is great fun.

“Great Holiday Cottage with Loads of Accommodation and Fantastic Views”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2014

We shared this cottage with a group friends with children over New Year 2013/14 and had a great time. There is lots of rooms for the various age groups to spread out throughout the house. The views across to Snowdonia are magnificent. There are some great walks from the cottage and Red Wharf Bay is only a short drive away. Will definitely rent again.

“Wonderful place for a group of friends to get together”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2014

We had a wonderful weekend away, along with a few other families. The house was really spacious. Lots of bedrooms. Never felt like you were on top of each other. We all managed to eat round the large table in the kitchen, as well as outside enjoying the sunshine. Plus we all enjoyed the evening pool contests in the games room. The house has great character. The beaches nearby were fantastic. Great dog walking and lots for the kids to do. It was a super weekend getaway.

“Excellent property in scenic surroundings”

Enjoyed a long weekend break with friends in this well equipped and comfortable house. Great space to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Well worth a visit.

“Beautiful, homely cottage, well equiped with stunning views of the Snowdon range.”

Another visit to Ty Adeiladwr Cwch - this time with our family. The cottage is lovely, well equipped, very clean and spacious. Two lounges gave us the opportunity to have our own space and the laundry was handy with young children. Enjoy cooking and love the "range" and island unit . Great walking on the nearby Anglesey coastal path. Most of all love sitting in the garden with a glass of wine looking at the mountains. Very peaceful. The local beach was also good for fishing (need more practice!). A great holiday. Do have a cream tea at the end of Bangor Pier.
