Location description from owner

The England region

Kingsdown Holiday Park is set within the White Cliffs Country area of the Kent coast with attractive vistas across the English Channel from the cliff top location. There is access to London either by car (M2/A2) or train (Dover, Deal or Walmer stations) and high speed options are available. Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted airports are easily accesible and the Channel Tunnel and ferry links to Calais and Dunkerque are within 10 km. The historic city of Canterbury is within half an hours travel with its magnificent Cathedral and many other attractions such as the Canterbury Tales based upon Chaucers story about the medieval journey of travellers along the Pilgrims Way. Going north lies the beautiful sandy bays of Broadstairs and the Turner gallery in Margate looking out to sea. Going south the seaside town of Folkestone with one of the only remaining sea water propelled cliff lifts in the UK and the hidden gem of the Lower Leas Coastal Park with an extensive childrens play facility and interesting rock pools at low tide.

Kingsdown

The Deal area remains steeped in history with the little changed village of Kingsdown at its heart. The history of Kingsdown dates right back with it providing a popular stopping point for walkers and cyclists travelling the Saxon Shore Way. The unspoilt foreshore of Kingsdown with its shingle beach designated a site of special scientific interest, the Zetland Arms and a scatter of traditional colourful beach huts lies a few minutes walk from Kingsdown Holiday Park. As the tide retreats and reveals a delightful array of rock pools children and adults spend many an hour enjoying their search for the shells, crabs and tiny fish within.

The active can enjoy coastal walks or cycle rides along the coast to Deal, St Margarets Bay or Dover and stop along the way for a beaker of tea, an ice cream or a fizzy drink. Make sure you visit the beautiful St Margarets Bay a hidden gem of the local area. Along this route lie the immaculate castles of Dover, Walmer and Deal so if you are a member of English Heritage bring your membership card with you. Dover castle also provides access to the extensive tunnels which provided the Operation Centre for the Second World War emergency evacuation of soldiers from Dunkerque. There is an opportunity to cycle on from Deal to Sandwich or for the less active enjoy a delightful drive or bus ride to this riverside Medieval town with its historical buildings and boats resting by the river.

“Excellent accommodation”

Have been having a great relaxing week in No 68 Kingsdown Park. Plenty to see and do around the area and the park itself is great - swimming pool, tennis court and crazy golf. Very well kept and not too far from a stony beach and views of the White Cliffs! Chalet 68 is beautiful - well laid out - three bedrooms and upstairs and downstairs bathroom. Living area is very comfortable and kitchen area and chalet is well equipped with everything you could think of for a great stay. Thanks to Steve and Deb for making it such a comfortable place for a holiday - and of course the good weather makes it!!!!

Thank you very much.

“The perfect place to stay”

A wonderfully appointed chalet in an excellent location. Clean as a whistle with everything you need for a solo or family holiday. Very helpful owners who make arriving and closing up as easy as possible. Beautiful location with great amenities . Comfy beds, good telly, swimming pool and other recreational facilities on site. My second trip was as good as the first and I will go back every year.

Thank you, it's good to know our efforts are appreciated. We are always happy to have return bookings from lovely people.

“great location”

Reviewed 26 May 2014

We stayed at Kingsdown for a week, with four adults and a toddler in our party. The cabin had everything we needed for our stay, and was very well equipped for our son. The site is very nice, with plenty of space around the cabins, and a very good pool. It helped that we had good weather, and that it was the week before half term, so nice and quiet. Kingston itself is lovely, and we visited some beautiful places along the coast.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review of your holiday at our chalet, it is much appreciated.

“Comfortable”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2013

A lovely accommodation in a ideal woodland setting. Great location for exploring the Kent coast. The accommodation was lovely although at times was a little cool, but that's the English weather for you. Pay as you go electric was a novelty but didn't cost too much. Three bedrooms were spacious although due to the triangular shape in the roof, you had to be careful getting in and out of bed. Very quite, with plenty of wildlife. The local pubs did lovely food as did the park.

We now have a double glazed front screen and back doors with opening windows for ventilation in the summer and insulation in the cooler months.
