“Wonderful, cosy yet large retreat”
The Mount is a fantastic house oozing with character and charm. It has two large lounge areas, a sun room, a large kitchen with dining table and benches & a large dining room with 12-seater table and huge inglenook fireplace. It is also peppered with log burners upstairs & downstairs and has a feeling of warmth, character and cosiness! There are 6 bedrooms upstairs with one shower room & one bathroom. Downstairs is another shower room and a gallery-style vaulted entranceway, further adding to space and charm. The garden is large & very pretty with a BBQ area and outside games room with table tennis. It’s tranquil and picturesque with sheep in the field adjacent and a stream (fenced off) to the side. There were 7 adults staying and we felt like we all had our own space and never felt on top of one another. If you need to get out there’s Rye a few mins’ drive (20 min walk) away and lovely countryside surrounding the property. There’s also a lovely farm shop & cafe next door. Bernie (the owner) was easy to contact & replied promptly. Bernie clearly thinks of the needs of those staying and provided logs, towels, everyday items such as washing up liquid, salt, peppers, loads of kitchenware, cutlery and glasses. We also tucked in to some of her delicious homemade shortbread she made for us, which was better than i’ve ever made for sure. Thanks so much. We can’t wait to return!! :-)
Owner's reply: Many thanks David for your review, so glad you appreciated The Mount and will look forward to you returning. Bernie
