This beautiful area has something for all ages: sandy beaches at Barmouth, fishing trips from the harbour , mountain walks from the garden gate, water sports on Lake Bala (35 mins away) off road cycle tracks at Coed Brennin and along the Mawddach trail. We suggest the Kittiwake books of Dolgellau, Barmouth and Mawddach for guided walks. Climb Snowdon or the magnificent Cader Idris visible from the house. Sit on the terrace and watch tide come in and out along the Mawddach estuary. have a BBQ or stroll across the toll bridge to the George Third pub for a meal. We think you will want to come back.

“Great location, would not hesitate to book again.”

Reviewed 13 Sep 2016

The main attraction of this property are the breath taking views and the pristine landscape it is situated in. The scenery is especially on display from the garden terrace, which we spent many an evening enjoying. Even though you are completely surrounded by the serenity of Snowdonia, the property is far from isolated. Shortly down the main road is the town of Barmouth and we found that all the places we wanted to visit in our stay easily accessible. The house itself is very roomy, it was more than enough for the eight of us, and has every facility we required to make our stay comfartable. The furnishings are very tasteful, and unlike other holiday houses I have stayed in did not feel like a place for tourists but instead very homely. On our stay we took full advantage of the good weather to get out and about, but I did notice the plethora of board games and puzzles available if you are not so lucky. Overall a great house and a good value vacation, if I ever was thinking of going back up to the area I would not hesitate to book again!

“Highly recommend if lookingng for a great place to stay for a relaxing break”

Booked a long weekend and had a really relaxing time. The house is located in woodland with stunning views from large windows across the estuary and mountains - we could have sat in front of the fire all day just admiring the vista and watching the local wildlife! The kitchen is modern and well equipped but you can walk across the estuary bridge to a local pub which has a vast menu - the food is good but take a torch for the journey home! We caught a bus to Barmouth one evening - the stop is just at the bottom of the drive. Portmerion is nearby and worth a visit. Overall we would highly recommend Ar y Graig - spacious, clean and very comfortable.

I am glad you worked out the bus stop at the end of the lane.- not too far away although it is uphill on the way back! and yes a torch is a very good idea out there. Portmerion is stunning at any time of year and only about a tenner for entry -you can easily spend a lazy day there. We would love to have you stay again.

“Excellent accommodation, beautiful location”

The house is excellent - great for large groups of friends and family. Very spacious and homely. The location is great for walking. Went on some lovely hikes and runs. Cannot emphasise enough how beautiful the scenery is! Great pubs around the area.

We are glad you had such a good time and there are quite a few good pubs and restaurants in the area.

“Peaceful haven for walkers”

We spent a thoroughly enjoyable weekend here celebrating birthdays with a group of close friends. We had stayed here previously and the property was much improved this time with the addition of a delightful modern, open plan kitchen. The property is in an amazing position with lovely views and plentiful walks on the doorstep. I would highly recommend this property.

Thank you. Although the kitchen extension was quite an outlay we feel that the property has really benefited from the modern open plan area downstairs now.

“Very well equipped with lots of space both inside and out.”

A very comfortable house, very warm and cosy. Lots of home comforts and extremely well equipped. We will return asap.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back. Perhaps try the autumn as the colours on the hills and in the forests are gorgeous then.
