Townend Holiday Cottage (Sheldon, near Ashford in the Water) is a delightful, dog friendly former hay barn that is full of character and beautifully furnished throughout.

With oak beams providing a cosy cottage feel, it is the perfect base to retreat to, after a day out exploring the nearby walking and cycling trails of the Peak District.

The property embraces open plan living on the ground floor. The comfortable living area contains a comfy sofa, armchair, FreeView TV and coal effect electric fire. It is the perfect spot for relaxing at the end of the day. The country style kitchen includes everything you need for your stay, with a cooker/hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher and good quality cutlery and kitchenware, as well as a variety of extras such as tea, coffee etc.

Upstairs, the bedroom has a large queen size bed, adorned with soft cosy duvet and white, quality, cotton bedlinen. White fluffy towels and two white towelling bathrobes are provided for use during your stay. The bedroom also enjoys plenty of storage space, a FreeView TV and additional extras, such as hair straighteners and a hairdryer.

The bathroom is fully tiled and contains a good quality, white bathroom suite. Complimentary toiletries are provided for use during your stay.

The seating area outside Townend Holiday Cottage, overlooks the peaceful, unspoilt Peak District village of Sheldon and is the perfect spot to take time out and truly experience village life. Or take a stroll down to the local village pub and enjoy a selection of real ales and a game of pool.

With off-road parking and only a short drive away from the bustling market town of Bakewell and regal spa town of Buxton, Townend Holiday Cottage is an ideal location for discovering the delights of the Peak District.

A homemade cake, 6 free range eggs and a pint of milk await your arrival and we look forward to welcoming you soon!

A quiet linear village, with its cottages and farms set alongside a single road. The view down the village from Townend Cottage is wholly delightful, and surprisingly soft for a former lead mining village. Ancient sycamore trees, village greens and the old red telephone box (now housing a defibrillator) all add further character, (and mercifully free from both yellow and white lines). There is a seating area in front of the cottage and parking for one car within the cottage grounds. There is also plenty of road parking in front of the cottage.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Townend Cottage, it may be small but it has everything you could need while you are there. Lindsey could,nt have been more helpful and baked us a lovely cake which was waiting for us when we arrived. We will definitely be back.

We had the such a lovely stay. We arrived to tea, coffee, sugar, milk in the fridge and a wonderful homemade lemon cake. Lindsey, who lives next door, was so helpful and friendly. Its in a beautiful location too. The cottage is small but so perfect for two! We had everything we needed. Everything was spotless and the cottage was very well equipped. We would definitely recommend staying here, we would love to go back. So much to see and do nearby.

A fabulous little cottage tucked out the way! It was delightfully peaceful! Lovely Warm cottage and welcomed by nice lemon cake and eggs and milk ! Bed was comfy and cottage had everything we could want for a few days away. Pub down the road was a bonus !

Lovely stay in Townend Cottage had everything and more. Can not fault either of Lyndseys beautiful cottages. Great days out walking Stanage Edge and Dovedale and lovely meal at the local pub Cock and Pullet. Will be back again☺

The cottages is small but everything you need is there. The beds sleep great. Beautiful surroundings, walks from the front door. Several Manors in the neighborhood are open to visitors. In short it was a wonderful week.

Townend cottage was a perfect base for exploring the beautiful surrounding area.We enjoyed many walks from the cottage door returning to the comfort of the cottage in a really quiet village often sitting enjoying cake and tea in the evening sun on the patio chairs .Lindsay had thought of many extrasto make it home from home..We loved the cake and eggs.The bed was so comfortable and the cottage well deserving of its high TripAdvisor reviews.There is so much to do in the area.highlights included Chats-worth house,cycling the monsal trail,walking the pennine way around Mam Tor the views were spectacular ,Bakewell (can recommend the Lavender tea room )Ladybower reservoir walk,visiting Eyam village learning about the plague and walking through many fields full of buttercups sheep and cows.Can highly recommend this cottage.

We really enjoyed our weekend stay at Townsend cottage. The cottage is quaint and has every thing needed for your stay, the hostess lives next door so can Offer advice if needed. There are plenty of walks directly from the cottage and bakewell is only a couple of miles away.

What a great place to stay. This is the most well equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. The cottage is well kept and clean. Lovely spot to stay for day trips in the peak district. Nice little village with a pub. The owner Lyndsey is lovely and has thought about every little detail in the cottage and what a lovely welcome with fresh eggs, milk and a cake on the table. We were meant to stay for 6 nights but due to availability we decided to stay an extra night. We loved it so much. We will definitely be back.

First time we stayed in this beautiful little cottage- what a fantastic place it is! Cosy and well equipped with everything we could possibly need to have a great stay. So impressed with how much thought has gone into this place, and what a lovely touch the eggs, milk and delicious cake were! We thoroughly enjoyed the cake- so much we didn't manage our dinner after! Lovely picturesque little village with a fab pub for a drink or two and a game of pool. Great location for popping into Bakewell and Buxton over the weekend. Thank you for a fantastic stay, we will be sure to come back and stay again! Couldn't recommend it more!

Very nice cottage in a small village. Clean and well equipped. Nice and friendly host. The home made cake was a pleasent suprise! Very nice! Together with fresh eggs! For us it was a lovely stay, very relaxing. We will be back next year.

How do damage deposits work?
