“beautiful quiet setting”
Townend cottage was a perfect base for exploring the beautiful surrounding area.We enjoyed many walks from the cottage door returning to the comfort of the cottage in a really quiet village often sitting enjoying cake and tea in the evening sun on the patio chairs .Lindsay had thought of many extrasto make it home from home..We loved the cake and eggs. The bed was so comfortable and the cottage well deserving of its high TripAdvisor reviews. There is so much to do in the area.highlights included Chats-worth house, cycling the monsal trail, walking the pennine way around Mam Tor the views were spectacular ,Bakewell (can recommend the Lavender tea room )Ladybower reservoir walk, visiting Eyam village learning about the plague and walking through many fields full of buttercups sheep and cows. Can highly recommend this cottage.
We really enjoyed our weekend stay at Townsend cottage. The cottage is quaint and has every thing needed for your stay, the hostess lives next door so can Offer advice if needed. There are plenty of walks directly from the cottage and bakewell is only a couple of miles away.
“Beautiful little place”
What a great place to stay. This is the most well equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. The cottage is well kept and clean. Lovely spot to stay for day trips in the peak district. Nice little village with a pub. The owner Lyndsey is lovely and has thought about every little detail in the cottage and what a lovely welcome with fresh eggs, milk and a cake on the table. We were meant to stay for 6 nights but due to availability we decided to stay an extra night. We loved it so much. We will definitely be back.
“Lovely stay in cosy cottage”
First time we stayed in this beautiful little cottage- what a fantastic place it is! Cosy and well equipped with everything we could possibly need to have a great stay. So impressed with how much thought has gone into this place, and what a lovely touch the eggs, milk and delicious cake were! We thoroughly enjoyed the cake- so much we didn't manage our dinner after! Lovely picturesque little village with a fab pub for a drink or two and a game of pool. Great location for popping into Bakewell and Buxton over the weekend. Thank you for a fantastic stay, we will be sure to come back and stay again! Couldn't recommend it more!
“Lovely cottage in nice setting”

“A Lovely relaxing place to stay”
Great little cottage, ideal for a quite weekend for two. Spotlessly clean and well presented. A friendly welcome from the owners. Well located for looking around this lovely area. Great local pub for a pint and a bite to eat.
“Perfect place for a peaceful getaway”
We had a lovely time at Townend Cottage and can't rate it highly enough - it was really well equipped, immaculately clean, comfortable and had a lovely feel. The welcome pack with local eggs was a lovely touch! Sheldon is a lovely village - really peaceful with a great local pub, and very close to Bakewell, which is a lovely place to visit for the day. The cottage is well situated if you like walking or cycling, or just like being in the great outdoors. Thanks for a lovely break!
“Brilliant Cottage, wonderful village, great location. Delightful !!!!!”
This is the most delightful holiday cottage I have ever stayed in, it is clean, cosy, picture perfect!! the location is fantastic, with a lovely quaint little pub in the village, which serves real ale and home cooked food. We enjoyed wonderful walk after wonderful walk straight from the the cottage door. Such beautiful countryside and local scenery. And then there was the CAKE! Wow!!! what a treat!. Eggs from Lindsey's own free range hens, and lots of little extras all around the cottage. And a very very comfy king size bed. I would highly recommend this cottage to everyone! Thank you, and we can't wait to return!!!
