Mountain Biking & Cycling Holiday Accommodation in Island of Gozo - Holiday Lettings
“Luxury accommodation in a laid-back location.” My wife and I were travelling with my 90-year-old mother. When we were looking at booking Berta, Sam was concerned that Mum may not be able to climb the front steps or get in one of the free-standing showers. He even sent photos to help us make up our minds. We went ahead and booked for 5 days. We were met by Sam at the ferry and he took us for a quick tour of the area surrounding Sannat to show us food stores, eateries, etc. The photos do not do the accommodation justice. The pool and barbecue areas were secluded and inviting, the location was quiet and the washing machine and kitchen were a blessing. The WiFi was excellent. Service from Sam was first class. Nothing was a problem even when we extended our stay by another 2 days or when we had some relatives stay for a couple of nights. He was just like one of the family. Gozo is a beautiful island. There is so much to see, the people are friendly and the climate is mild in autumn. You could not go wrong by staying at Berta if you are going to Gozo.
“It was like going back in time!” Initially I must admit we were a little disappointed on arrival with the outside space as it was a bit overlooked (as it turned out there is nobody about to look!) The farmhouse itself was lovely and very well equipped. Perfect location for walking into the village square where there are a couple of bars and restaurants, supermarket and bakery. We did hire a car which was great for getting around the island, although it is not a necessity as there is a bus stop outside the house. Ramla Bay is a couple of minutes drive. There is a rooftop terrace with great view and the night sky is fantastic, needs a couple of deck chairs up there to relax on. Make friends with Menu across the road! very interesting chap with his own little museum of machinery. Gozo is like stepping back in time and once you get over the initial shock it really is quite lovely and the people are very friendly. We enjoyed our stay and would hope to return.
“Pleasant Stay At A Rustic Farmhouse In Gozo” We enjoyed the12 days we spent at Anthony's house of character, in the quiet village of Gharb, on Gozo. There's space on the roof, with wide views across the fields to the ocean, and, on the other side, to other villages.
The custom stonework that Anthony created himself for the house is beautiful - a unique, spiral stone staircase leads up to the roof terrace; there are also stone wall sconces in the living room and kitchen, with subtle lighting behind them.
The pool area has hand-assembled stone walls, which cut down the wind on windy Spring days.
Anthony is a gracious and generous host - he gave us a hand carved gift, and a bottle of his home made wine.
Gozo is all about experiencing nature - we walked along a small road, which led out to breathtaking, expansive views of the cliffs on the north side of the ex-Azure Window, over fields dotted with poppies and wildflowers, leading down to the sea. This road is just a minute or 2 from the house, and provides great sunset views.
Tatita's and Millie Grazie are, by far, the best restaurants in the local area.
“booked again for next year” we have just spent a wonderful 3 weeks at Tal Hamramann, one week on our own,one with my daughter and grandchildren aged 3 and 5 and one week with friends from Australia and everyone loved the farmhouse and had a great time.everything was on hand especially the owner Aaron who could not have been more helpful.,Abrahams supermarket is about 200yds,15 minutes walk at old peoples pace and your in the village square with a lovely church and a handfull of good restaurants, and Ramla bay,the best beach is 25 minutes walk downhill, never attempted the return 1.50 euros a day bus fare seemed the better option. So good we have booked for next year.
“Fantastic Holiday - Perfect Villa” We stayed in Gozo at the end of May/beginning of June. We were a party of 4 adults and a 4 year old child. The owners of the villa, Pauline & Mario, made us feel very welcome, and were always on hand if needed.
The transport, arranged by Pauline, from the airport to the villa was faultless.
The villa itself was beautiful, Very spacious inside, and perfect for large parties and very well equiped.
The pool was a big hit with our daughter, who was the first one in every morning at 7:30.
We hired a car for a few days & visited Malta. We also purchased a weeks bus ticket (€6.50 per adult), which gave us unlimited travel around Gozo.
The village itself is quiet, but has a few restaurants anfd supermarkets. We had lunch a few times in the cafe/patisserie in the square by the church. Very good value & delicious cakes.
We used the Lighthouse supermarket, the fruit & veg market stall & the Aldi by Victoria.
For dinner, the best restaurant to visit is Tal Furnar. The food is delicious. We went a few times, and there were so many tasty things on the menu. The owners were very friendly, and we loved chatting with them. Portions are massive.
If it is a relaxing break that you are looking for, then Gozo is perfect.
“We couldn't have been made more welcome.” We didn't really know what to expect as we chose this villa and destination rather quickly one morning after a brisk trawl of the internet. We couldn't have been happier. Right from the word go, the owner, Marvik, was in touch via e-mail making sure everything would run smoothy. He arranged transport to and from the airport which included the ferry. We arrived a little tired at 4 in the morning, but Marvik's mother, Victoria, was there to show us around the house. The Villa was spotless, as was the pool. The pair continued to be on hand throughout the week helping us whenever we needed. It turns out that Kercem is a very quiet part of the island and the nearest supermarket is a one hour round trip if walking. So we soon elected to hire a car (luckily one of us brought their licence). Marvik was at the end of a phone and had arranged a car to be delivered to our door within two hours. At a very good price.
So long as he'll have us (we did our best to keep the kids quiet around the pool) we'll be back.
“What more do you need?” Dar il Gnejna made a homely and characterful base for us and our friends as we spent a week walking around the island. During the day we would discover new sights and hidden corners, then return for a refreshing swim in the pool and drinks on the roof-top terrace overlooking the fields down to Ramla.
Get up early in the morning and you can buy fresh fish in the village square, then leave it to marinade while you our out during the day and barbecue it in the evening by the pool; all washed down with an ice-cold glass of the local white wine - bliss!
“6* Stunning, Beautiful, Relaxing” Having stayed in many 5* hotels and self catering establishments around the world I am definitely giving this one 6* plus.
Thank you so much for making our stay in your house quite a unique experience, which began with your initial emails that gave us so much detail; from the wonderful welcome you and your mum gave us, the attention to detail you provide is simply outstanding.
This holiday on Gozo will stay in our memories forever.
Thank you once again.
“Charming historic village house of character and comfort with open views of countryside” We found this an ideal setting for a varied experience of Gozo. Located in an historic village in easy reach of a wide variety of interesting places to visit and pleasurable walks into the fields right from the door. The house is full of interest, lots of places to sit and relax inside and out.
The terrace at the back has a well designed small pool for dipping and relaxing with open views over the countryside.
The house appears to have been recently appointed to a high standard and was very clean. We had a warm welcome from the house keeper who lives close by should we have needed anything.
The village itself has a couple of shops and three bars/restaurants and Rabat is about 15 mins drive with a lot of variety in shopping and restaurants.
Our only tips to the owner would be to suggest a larger coffee pot/cafetiere and teapot please. And to travellers that to get the most out of your time, to suggest that a car is a good idea.
“Great apartment by the sea” Great apartment. Spacious, modern and bright, a little cold in winter but come summer the sea breeze will be a bonus! Top floor so great views but bear this in mind if you have any difficulty walking up stairs. Buses just a couple of minutes walk from the apartment which get you around the island and Victoria is 10-15 minutes away by bus. Beautiful walks nearby. Good restaurants in walking distance. Nice welcome from Ritienne who collected us from the ferry. Overall this is a beautiful apartment with great hosts, we loved our relaxing time here.
“Perfect base for a perfect holiday on Gozo” Seastar apartments are well appointed, well equipped and of very good proportion. The owners of the apartments offer a very warm welcome and are always ready to assist in any way to improve your holiday experience. You will find it hard to get better value and service for money elsewhere on Gozo.
In my opinion Xlendi is an excellent base for exploring Gozo. It has a beautiful bay, ideal for swimming, good bus links if you choose not to drive and a good array of restaurants serving fresh local produce.
“Amazing apartment - Can't wait to go back!” Having previously been to Malta, we had heard a lot of good things about Gozo so decided to give it a try, staying in this lovely penthouse apartment in Xaghra.
We visited in May which meant the weather was lovely, not too hot, perfect for a bit of sightseeing but easily still warm enough for sunbathing.
This penthouse was just what we had hoped, it had such a huge terrace and was very private with a lovely cool shower. There was such attention to detail and I have never stayed anywhere that was so well thought through, with the welcoming hamper, the outside BBQ area and lots of nice finishing touches (even down to having British plug sockets).
We had the master bedroom and it was great, with a lovely terrace area and the luxurious en suite bathroom.
We had a super time and couldn't of asked for a more stress free stay, with the owners sorting out car hire and transfers from the airport.
The apartment was very clean and well equipped and we are thoroughly looking forward to going back to Gozo and this penthouse!
“Gozo - lovely place, shame about the sand storms!!” Gozo is a fantastic place and the people are so friendly. Unfortunately we arrived in freak weather conditions - gusty winds and sahara sand thrown in from every direction. It was also unfortunate that during our stay the whole of the normally pretty St Lawrenz was dug up so rubble and dust everywhere.
We had a great time despite all this so definitely going back. The Tal Barun Farmhouse is beautiful and original and in a great position for the sea and some lovely long walks. There is everything there that you could possibly need and hopefully the road works will have finished by the time we next visit.
The whole trip was arranged superbly by Marvik with easy transfers. Everyone in Gozo are friendly and helpful and will endeavour to do everything they can to make your stay an enjoyable one.
