The Quarter House is a delightful converted Grade II listed 2-storey apartment in a cottage dating back to the 1750s in the heart of beautiful Mediaeval Rye. Guests can enjoy modern conveniences, including wi-fi, jacuzzi bath etc, in ancient & characterful surroundings - open log fireplace, original beams and wooden floors…
Step outside the front door and wander Rye's cobbled streets, Church Square, and its river with sailing boats at high tide… Visit its many historic restaurants, pubs (The Mermaid Inn "Rebuilt in 1420"!), and the many antique barns, retro & boutique shops, art galleries & museums, all on the doorstep, with the beautiful East Sussex & Kent countryside easily accessible.
Nearby Camber Sands and Winchelsea beaches are less than 10 mins drive away, with sand/shingle beaches, cliffs, and wind/kite surfing & dinghy sailing/kayaking also available. There are bikes for hire 2 minutes away, with bike paths through the Kent & Sussex countryside, and Dungeness & Rye Harbour Nature Reserves, Bird Sanctuaries & Sailing Club are also close by.
The historic towns of Battle, Hastings and Canterbury, with Bodiam, Leeds and Dover Castles, are all within easy driving distance.

This area of East Sussex is incredibly appealing and diverse! Mediaeval towns with cobbled streets and historic churches, castles, steam railways, country walks, bike paths, sand and shingle beaches, cliffs, sailing and surfing; nature reserves, bird sanctuaries & marshes… easy access to Europe and London… Guests have so many holiday options for an ideal stay, for families with children or romantic getaway retreats.
Rye is a historic Mediaeval town, with its cobbled streets, Church Square, and wealth of traditional and modern restaurants, and historic pubs (The Mermaid Inn dates back to the 1400s). Boutique shops, art galleries & museums are all centrally located, including a local supermarket for easy shopping. Beautiful East Sussex & Kent countryside right on the doorstep, with bike hire in the town and a bike path network right from Rye. Nearby Camber Sands and Winchelsea Beach offer sand & shingle beaches, where wind / kite surfing & dinghy sailing are all available. The local fishing port of Rye Harbour has a sailing club & Lifeboat Station, and also encompasses Rye Harbour Bird Sanctuary and Nature Reserve.
Rye is reputed to have its own micro-climate - often sunny when not sunny elsewhere in England! 10 mins from the coast, with its cliffs, beaches, woods, golf, kitesurfing and sailing activities. Bodiam, Leeds & Dover Castles are all nearby, with many National Trust and English Heritage properties locally. There are many festivals to plan a visit around, including the Rye Festival in September, which attracts many visitors with its famous & diverse programme of cultural events; the famous Sussex Bonfire Parades in October and November, and the Scallop and Mediaeval Festivals in Spring & Summer.

Thanks! That's so nice to hear. Actually, re. the water temperature: we are now adding a sign to say "run the hot tap slowly" as then it gets very hot. It's just one of those Medieval Rye things! Really glad you all had a great time and hope to see you again.
