The Royal William - Contemporary, Luxury Self Catering Holiday Apartment
The Plymouth self-catering “New York” style apartment faces southwest and has a stylish lounge with exposed beams, internal columns, stone walls, oak floors and dual aspect windows, allowing the sea view to enter the apartment. To enhance the view and bring the outside into the apartment, one of the windows are stunning original floor to ceiling double doors that open inwards to the lounge with a Juliet balcony. Facing southwest the holiday apartment enjoys the benefit of afternoon and evening sun.
This holiday apartment has been converted, furnished and decorated to the highest possible standard in a modern contemporary design. The design is clean, contemporary and restrained in contrast to the dark, rich historic atmosphere, emphasising the ancient and the new. A modern designer kitchen, luxury bathroom and entertainment systems have tastefully been installed. This apartment is truly a superior Plymouth holiday apartment with the highest luxury specification, design and detail.

The Royal William Yard in Plymouth originally conceived by Samuel Pepys when he was secretary to the Navy in the 17th century and constructed by Sir John Rennie between 1825 and 1831. Designed as both a factory and supply depot for ships victualling needs, here the Royal Navy refuelled with rum. It continued to supply right up to its closure in the early 1990s, which has now been redeveloped into a world-class development.
The Royal William holiday apartment is centrally located on the Plymouth waterfront, close to all attractions and facilities.
The Royal William is our most sophisticated luxury apartment with fantastic views and overlooking the marina in the Royal William Yard. It is our most popular apartment, interesting it is a favourite with our corporate clients, in particularly with VIP guest and celebrities that visit Plymouth.
As the apartment overlooks the Royal William Marina (Royal William Yacht Harbour) there is also the availability of berths within the Marina. The Berth fees vary on the size / length of the boat and period of stay. The period of stay is either short stay (4 hours), 24 hours, weekly or Monthly. Therefore it is possible to moor you boat within the Royal William Yard and overlook your yacht or powerboat from the luxury sea views apartment.
In addition to the Royal William Marina there are also berths available at Mayflower marina, which is opposite the Royal William Yard.
There is also a regular water bus (ferry service) from the Royal William Yard, which transports people to the Barbican in the centre of the city and operates from the 1st May to the 30th September.
Within the Royal William Yard there is the Seco Lounge restaurant and bar, Martin Bush Gallery, the University of Plymouth Fine Arts exhibitions and the Royal Navy visitor centre. There is 24 hour security in the Royal William Yard.
Mount Edgcumbe country park is just on the opposite bank of the river Tamar from the Royal William Yard with a frequent passenger ferry connection. The foot passenger Cremyll ferry that goes to Mount Edgcumbe is a 5 minute walk.

There really is a wealth of things to see and do in the West Country. Not only does it have some of the most breathtaking scenery in the United Kingdom but it has several award winning beaches to relax on.

The company we booked through, Luxury Sea Views made access easy and stress free. On arrival, the representative was professional and informative. The apartment is very modern comfortable and clean, couldn't have wished for anything better. It is in a great location within the Royal William Yard . There are great restaurants on site and a bakery and a pub. The city centre and the old Barbican are not far away. There is a ferry service to the Barbican, which operates a more frequent service in the summer season. We were very happy and will definitely stay there again. We were very happy with the apartment. It was a very good base to stay on a trip to Plymouth. Great views of the sea and river. We will definitely stay there again on our next trip to the West Country. There was a great TV in the apartment and internet access . Fabulous place!

We had an excellent time staying in this apartment for three weeks. As we live abroad we had to find somewhere to live whilst my husband was recovering from know operation. We had lots of help from luxury rentals to identify the right apartment initially. The location was perfect for us and the apartment was ideal. Many thanks to them.

"Spacious unit in convenient area"
We stayed over Christmas 2013. Very pleased with communication from host/manager and there was a nice set of instructions (wifi, heat, etc) waiting for us. The unit was big enough for us to host some holiday meals and the second bedroom mean that people could stay over if they didn't want to drive home afterwards. Also great to have a few restaurants right on our doorstep when we didn't feel like cooking. We had no noise issues because it was raining too hard for restaurants to have outdoor seating. The unit is directly above a couple restaurants, so I could see it being loud in the living room on a summer evening if the windows were open. But from the layout I'd guess the bedrooms would be pretty quiet no matter what's going on outside. Also very pleased with the heating system. We were visiting Plymouth from sunny LA in mid-winter, so that was important to us. There are a couple of stairs inside the unit (kitchen and bathroom are raised up one step) and a few stairs in the hallway after the elevator. They presented no problem for us, but older or disabled travelers should get more information before booking.

"Pefect base to relax and for trips to DEVON or CORNWALL"
The pictures show exactly what you get. Modern, big Designer-appartments (loft-like) in a new renovated building. Completely and perfect equipped kitchen. Water-taxi to town center, shopping in the warp (baker) or close to the area. Our apartment was directly over a cafe, which brought a little noise in the evening, but this is acceptable. In the bed-room you hear nothing. I would come again !!!

"Multiple stays over a number of years"
RWY is a classy location with the apartments on offer matching that standard. Phil and his team are very professional and the accommodation is always in top notch condition. The views are spectacular whilst sitting in the 4ft thick solid granite stone window frame, drinking a good glass of vino and watching the sun go down over a hard turning battleship, departing for patrol, takes some beating. Check in & out is seamless as is the overall booking experience. The restaurants and bars, within 50m, walk cater to all needs from bar food, to wagamamas to cuisine that should satisfy even the most discerning visitor. The Secco lounge immediately below the Juliet balcony gives off a pleasing sound of the hustle and bustle of patrons enjoying a cold one on a sunny afternoon, but is always quiet by a sociable hour. Open the windows and let the sun and sound in ..... lovely ! I have stayed at RWY with Luxury Sea Views a number of times over the recent years on both business and pleasure and will continue to do so. Visit the website and also check out The Esplanade for something a little different and special in its own way, trust me ;-) Highly recommended.

"Beautiful apartment, great location"
The apartment was at the heart of Royal William Yard, which is a great location, with cafés, restaurants, bars etc. Not right in the bustle of the city, but close enough to be easily accessible. The water taxi is a fantastic way to get the the Barbican and is as cheap as a regular taxi, but far nicer. The apartment itself is modern and comfortable and has anything you could expect. There is no microwave, if that's how you cook, but everything else you could need is provided. It's a fabulous place and if I wasn't in the process of moving to Plymouth, I would most definitely stay here again. I will certainly be recommending it to friends and family.

"A well set up comfortable apartment."
There were three of us - a couple and a friend. We enjoyed the stay but we had the following reservations. 1-the glass wall on the back bedroom right opposite the bathroom. 2-sound-proffing is ok but could be better. 3-two small en-suites would be better than one large bathroom

Just stayed at Royal William Yard for a week with my father. The apartment was exceptional, built to a high spec and really warm and comfortable despite its New York loft style feel.The Ex Royal Navy victualling yard has been restored by Urban Splash and they have done a great job on renovation. Although there were chain restaurants below us in the same building I must admit we didnt take advantage of them. My father is in his late seventies and I knew he would find them a bit too 'flash' From researching TripAdvisor before we came on holiday I had taken note of good restaurants a bit further away. i would recommend this to anyone who wants a good base to explore Plymouth and South Cornwall. The ferry across to Edgecumbe Park is a five minute walk away and theres a No34 bus outside the gate to take you into the city centre. I will definately be going back there next year with my wife.

"Beautifully presented apartment with terrific views"
We spent half term at this apartment with our 2 children, the booking procedure was excellent and despite delays in arriving the owner’s agent who met us could not have been more helpful. The location is stunning and the apartment is beautifully presented. It is tastefully furnished to a very high standard, many period features remain and are complimented with the modern furnishings. The views across the marina and River Tamar Estuary are a real treat. Despite our family of 4 the apartment felt extremely spacious. The Royal William Yard, originally a Historic Dock Yard, is a very interesting place to spend a holiday, we very much enjoyed eating in the many restaurants including The River Cottage, The Bake House and Prezzo's. We also enjoyed exploring on foot walking along the coastline to the Hoe and then the Barbican, enjoying a drink and returning by Taxi. The children really enjoyed the evening Mediterranean feel that the area seems to promote. We had many enjoyable trips, including Boat Trips, visiting the aquarium, the city centre and a trip into Dartmoor. We will certainly return one day and would not hesitate to recommend the area and the apartment.

"A GREAT PLACE TO STAY"
I don’t usually write reviews but on reading a previous review on this property, decided that I would make some comments. I have now stayed at the Royal William Yard twice, once last year and once just recently and both times I have been more than satisfied. The apartment is in a unique grade 1 listed building which in itself is very interesting. The property has solid wood floors apart from the bedrooms which are carpeted and has been furnished with high quality furniture and equipment. The beds are extremely comfortable, which is a very major concern for me, as I suffer with back problems. I find that most rental places (and hotels) supply hard and uncomfortable mattresses – probably because you can’t see them! The location of the apartment could not be better. It faces south and overlooks a small marina. Around the marina there are several restaurants, which I think add to the character of the place, so there is always somewhere to have an evening meal. River Cottage is a particularly nice restaurant to visit. When I last stayed at this apartment the weather was very hot, so I had the lounge door open which looks over the marina - I could hear and see people sitting around the marina but it did not bother me in the slightest, in fact it made me feel I was on holiday abroad! With the door closed noise is at a minimum and certainly did not disturb me at all. The apartment when I arrived was spotlessly clean. The property manager was very pleasant and helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble for her. I would certainly recommend this apartment to anyone who is looking for a comfortable and interesting place to stay in Plymouth.
