The Central Southern England region
Hampshire is the largest county in South East England and the third largest shire county in the United Kingdom despite losing more land than any other English county during the Local Government Act 1972 boundary changes.
Hampshire's tourist attractions include many seaside resorts, the motor museum at Beaulieu, with national parks in both New Forest and the South Downs. Hampshire has a long maritime history and two of England's largest ports, Portsmouth and Southampton, lie on its coast. The county is famed as home of such writers as Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, as well as the birthplace of engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
Damerham and Fordingbridge sit just on the edge of the New Forest National Park. An area of outstanding natural beauty and a conservation area, where horses, cattle and pigs are left to roam freely. We also have Martin Down only moments away, ideal for long walks, bird watching etc.
There is a wealth of cultural and leisure activities. Whether you are looking for energetic pursuits such as horse riding or cycling, or more sedate opportunities such as walking, sightseeing, there are a myriad of choices.
Nearby towns and villages of interest include; Romsey, Beaulieu & Lyndhurst.
Damerham is a location of notable Neolithic and Bronze Age barrows, and was an important Anglo-Saxon manor mentioned in the will of Alfred the Great.
By the time of the Domesday Book of 1086, Damerham was a major settlement in the possession of Glastonbury Abbey.
You can explore the local area on foot and stop at the Compass for a drink or lunch.. We will supply you with an information pack with suggested walks and cycle rides. You are very welcome to borrow our two bikes at your own risk or bring your own, we are happy to store them for you.

"Home from Home"
My girlfriend and I booked 'Greenbanks' for a long weekend break, we based our choice on some very good reviews on Trip Adviser and we were not disappointed.
The property itself is set in a small picturesque village, with good access to local restaurants (would recommend the Rose & Thistle and Little Mere) and within a short drive there are plenty of things to do near by. In addition the accommodation itself was clean, modern and very spacious. There were also homely touches scattered about such as chocolates, fresh eggs, toothbrush, DVDs etc.
The owner Carol was very welcoming and helpful (thanks for the butter!!!). This is a great get away, in a great location and we will definitely be returning for a weekend in the summer.
I am glad you enjoyed your stay and I look forward to welcoming you back to Greenbanks in the summer. Thank you for your review.

"Greenbanks is an excellent facility with all of the required amenities."
Greenbanks is easily accessible by car and is surrounded by beautiful scenery. The New Forest, the village of Fordingbridge and the city of Salisbury are all within easy reach. Greenbanks itself is spotless and contains all of the provisions that guests would require in a self-catering facility. The owner obviously goes out of her way to make sure that her guests are comfortable even providing items that a traveller might forget to pack. Useful information regarding local walks and events are also provided in a binder. The owner is extremely personable and readily available should guests have questions or require advice. I would not hesitate to recommend Greenbanks to travellers in Hampshire.
Thank you for your kind review. I am glad you were happy with your stay at Greenbanks. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to England.

It is in a great location, with lovely walks around the village and the New Forest, the coast and Salisbury within easy reach. We would also recommend a trip to Marwell Zoo!

"Choose this place - it is great."
We selected this place based on the trip advisor reviews. It meet all our expectations. It was close to all the places we wanted to visit. The rooms were as described, lovely and spacious and so well looked after you would think everything was brand new. The bed is very comfortable which is an important thing for me. As a bonus the hosts are really nice which made us feel like we were visiting friends. When we next travel to the UK from NZ we will look at staying here again.
We are glad you enjoyed you stay. It was really nice to meet you both and we really enjoyed your company. We look forward to meeting you again.

"Lovely accommodation, Would definitely return!"
We spent three lovely days at Greenbanks in September and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's in a great location with stunning views from the balcony from which we enjoyed a glass of wine in the evenings! There is lots to do! Lovely walks and cycle routes and lots of pubs serving good food.
Carol & Barry made us feel very welcome and have thought of everything. We were given delicious, fresh eggs as well as other homegrown produce.
We would definitely recommend Greenbanks, many thanks Carol.

"A fantastic short stay at Greenbanks"
My husband and I have just returned from a short stay at Greenbanks, and I must say it exceeded all our expectations after reading the excellent reviews on tripadvisor.
Carol and Barry are great hosts and made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived, like in previous reviews, the little attention to detail like, eggs, milk, tea, sugar etc. and the toiletries (even new toothbrushes if needed) were a lovely touch. They gave us tips on where to eat and they always had time for a little chat with us when they passed by – they make you feel like their friends.
The accommodation is perfect and worthy of 5 stars. It has a comfortable bed, lovely en-suite bathroom and cosy lounge with a balcony leading off it from where you can sit and have breakfast/dinner and watch the wildlife. It is in a really peaceful location, and there is a lot to see and do in the surrounding areas - it was just a shame we didn't get to stay longer.
Thank you Carol, Barry and the girls from Greenbanks, for the lovely eggs that you gave us to take away with us and for making our stay a good one. Hope to be back next year.
Thank you for your very kind review, it was so nice to meet you both, we really miss our evening gossips over the balcony. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and are looking forward to welcoming you back soon. Carol Barry and the Girls!!!

"WONDERFUL HOSTS, WONDERFUL HOLIDAY"
Having read previous reviews we were expecting a high quality stay and we were not dissapointed. Everything about this accomodation was excellent, the area was beautiful aswell as peacefull and only a few minutes from the outstanding New Forest. Our hosts were brilliant going above and beyond to make our stay truly great, from inviting us to help ourselves to their garden produce to explaining short-cuts to avoid local bottlenecks aswell as recommending local eateries which we would now heartily recommend. Looking forward to a return visit.
Thank you for your kind review, I am so glad you had a relaxing stay. I have just bought a new cycling map with some new routes for next time. Glad you found the short cuts to Bournemouth and Swanage useful and good luck with your driving test.
