The West Country region

North Devon is an area of outstanding natural beauty. We have some beautiful sandy beaches ideal for surfing, rock pool scrambling and exploring. The coastal path walks offer countless stunning views. At Mortepoint you can often sight seals and their cubs on the rocks below. Enjoy a boat trip from Ilfracombe harbour to fish or view our beautifully rugged coastline. From our doorstep you can walk over the Tors to Lee and refresh with a home brewed pint at the Grampus pub before strolling back again.

There is plenty to do with the children: Little ones will love Watermouth Castle or the beach at the Tunnels, where you will find an indoor ball play area - perfect for a rainy day. For all ages there is the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and, a little further away, are the Big Sheep and Milky Way Theme Parks. Golden Coast Holiday Park at Woolacombe has bowling and many other activities .

Twenty minutes away, Lynton has a cliff-top, water-powered funicular railway. Follow the river through a wooded walk up to Watersmeet where you can have a Devon cream tea or visit the striking Valley Of The Rocks which features in the classic novel Lorna Doone.

What is wonderful about the area is the variety of landscape: Only a few miles East is the rugged beauty of Exmoor or escape South to Crow Point just down the road from Bruanton to search amongst driftwood and wading birds on the Taw Estuary.

Alternatively enjoy a curry on Barricane beach on a weekday evening at Woolacombe.
