The delightful village of Edale is located in the centre of the Peak District National Park and is a perfect base for outdoor activities such as walking, mountain biking and climbing; or to explore the areas many historic castles, villages and stately homes.

Belmont House is a fine Edwardian country house situated in the heart of Edale, in the Peak District National Park. It has recently received a complete 5 star renovation providing high class facilities throughout.

Belmont House offers self catering which combines luxury and convenience whilst maintaining original Edwardian features and period furnishings. It is ideal for groups of up to 16, containing seven bathrooms and six large double/twin bedrooms, four of which can be arranged with an additional occasional bed, to allow maximum flexibility for groups of singles. There are also two living rooms, both with log burners (one featuring an impressive Jacobean surround), that can be arranged with sofa beds if needed. All bedrooms contain flat screen TV/DVDs and WiFi.

There are excellent kitchen facilities which include a Belmont (of course!!) double drainer sink, a separate double washing up sink, 5 burner 3 oven gas range, large American style Fridge Freezer, professional double burner gas grill, full size dishwasher and large drum washing machine. Two full dinner sets and a wide range of pans, dishes, utensils etc.. help to make catering for large groups as easy as possible, or a local caterer can be arranged to provide meals for you. In addition there are 2 pubs and 2 cafes serving food in the village

The dining room features period furniture including a Victorian oak table that my great grandmother had made, a Grandfather Clock, antique settle and sideboard. The table seats 12 as standard but can be extended to seat 16+.

The spacious grounds include a mature garden full of visiting birds including our friendly woodpecker, a sheltered patio and a large barbecue area offering wonderful views of the surrounding peaks.

There is off road parking for 6 cars (more by request), secure bike lock up and hose pipe for washing mud out of the chains, and a clothes maid in the Kitchen to allow rapid drying for wet coats etc..

The Heart of England/Peak District

Belmont House is perfectly situated for accessing the wide range of outdoor activities on offer in the Peak District National Park. Walking, climbing, mountain biking, pony trekking, hang gliding, sailing, fishing, pot holing; are all available locally.

There are also a selection of famous castles and stately homes to explore on less clement days, such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Peveril Castle and Lyme Park, all less than half an hour away.

The Peak District towns of Buxton, Bakewell and Tideswell are nearby, while Castleton and its wide range of village shops and caverns lies just 2 miles away over the hill.

Hope Valley

Edale is famous as a fabulous walking location and is the start of the Pennine Way, Britains first long distance footpath. The crags above Edale offer many Gritstone climbing routes and nearby Stanage is renowned as a world leading climbing venue. Many of Britain's finest road cyclists can also be seen training on the many country lanes and gruelling climbs around Edale, Team Sky are based in Manchester.

Recently we were joined by film crews as the BBC shot it's new period drama "The Village" in and around the Edale valley.
