The Devon region

A beautiful and timeless tourist and agricultural area on the North Devon and Cornwall Atlantic coast with spectacular cliffs and wooded combes and gentle streams running down to the sea.

An area of stunning seascapes and long coastal views with Lundy Island in the distance, but with the resorts of Bude and Westword Hoe and the towns Bideford and Barnstaple in easy travelling distance.

For the serious or not so serious walker the South West Coast Path is accessed via our paddock and many circular walks are available. Dartmoor and Exmoor not too distant for days out exploring.

RHS gardens at Torrington are nearby and many others are within easy reach including the Eden project .

There are a number of both sandy and surfing beaches in the area including Sandymouth and Widemouth with Newquay being a little further afield..

The hamlet of Southole is in a wooded combe surrounded by National Trust land and with a stream called the Strawberry Water running through the valley bottom on the way to the sea at Welcombe Mouth.

Coastal path is within 250 metres of Southole via our paddock or a National Trust owned field.

Nearby is the small village of Welcombe with a community shop and a pub, slightly further out is Hartland with its shops, more pubs and Hartland Abbey and Gardens. Docton Mill and its gardens are also close by.

Further out and just over the Cornwall border is the village of Kilkhampton for shopping and pubs and the up and coming attractive town of Bude with its beaches, cafes shops and canal is within half hours travel. .

Supermarkets and petrol stations are at Bude, Bideford and Holesworthy
