The West Country region

Holidays in Devon can open your eyes to a county of contrasts, offering the best of countryside and coastline, ancient ruins and modern shopping centres. Devon is perfect for families, couples or even those who've decided to take a break on their own.

If your idea of things to do in Devon centres around peace and quiet, tranquillity is something that Devon's not short of. Hit one of the glorious beaches, ramble in miles of unspoilt countryside, visit ancient castles, browse art galleries, take a boat trip, visit some awe-inspiring gardens or simply while away the hours in a quiet café. However, if you're after an adrenaline hit as part of your downtime, then you can find great places for climbing, white water rafting, horse riding and a host of white-knuckle fun activities.

Dartmouth, Totnes, Torbay, Dartmoor National park and the cities of Plymouth and Exeter are just a few of the places worth a visit.

Dartmouth

Dartmouth in Devon – the Jewel of the South Hams. Ancient narrow streets house boutique shops, art galleries & delicatessens. A cobbled market place features colourful stalls and Farmers markets supplying local produce – used by our gourmet restaurants, pubs & cafes and home to the Britannia Royal Naval College.

Our unique town, coast & countryside has a wide variety of attractions. Sail, fish, explore by boat or come at festival time. Take the steam train ride to Paignton for a treat or enjoy visits to Dartmouth Castle, National Trust properties at Greenway (holiday home of Agatha Christie) and Coleton Fishacre. Walk the South West Coast Path or laze on our clean beaches. Don't forget to visit the tourist office to see a working Newcomen Engine!

Every year since 1834, the River Dart has played host to The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, visitors enjoy a host of events from rowing, sailing to air displays and fireworks to name a few!
