"Everything we needed and more"
The River House in Chester was a fabulous place to stay. The house for clean, welcoming and comfortably furnished. The communal areas provided a great space for a group of us to chat, eat and relax. 6 of us used the River House for a university reunion and we loved the space in the house as well as its location - a stones throw from a good pub and a lovely comfy living room when we wanted to stay in and relax in the sofa in front of the fire! We stayed in one night and were so pleased to find a kitchen so well equipped with pots and pans, cutlery, serving bowls, baking trays, tin foil, tea, coffee, milk...the list goes on! The little store cupboard containing 'left over' items was great too - we'd forgotten to buy olive oil and were pleased to find some in the cupboard!
Often in rented houses, on arrival guests are presented with a daunting list of instructions and do's and don'ts - but here, a few handy pointers was all that was given, and all that was needed, which was refreshing.
Before our arrival, the River House owners were helpful and answered any queries quickly, we would have felt comfortable contacting them over the weekend if we'd had any problems - it was re-assuring to know that someone was on hand to help out.
I would definitely stay here again.

"Fantastic house and location!"
Myself and hubby, two daughters and their partners stayed over Christmas 2013. The house and facilities were excellent and spotless, and the Christmas decorations were lovely! There was plenty of room for us all, and room for the 3 cars which was an abolute bonus being very central for Chester city centre, as we all arrived at different times. We will certainly return in the summer!

"Comfortable accommodation in a superb location"
We arrived late Friday afternoon after following the clear directions to reach 'The River House' . We were struck by the cosy interior; imaginatively extended to provide a larger dining kitchen, the house was warm and hospitable. This Victorian property has been updated stylishly and offers three very comfortable double bedrooms, the largest having an en-suite. The position on the riverside close to the Suspension Bridge was ideal, being five minutes walk from the Walls with easy walking access to the City centre, not to mention the many excellent pubs on Lower Bridge Street!.
Because we were weekending with a 10 month old and going out to eat on the Saturday evening would have been problematic, we took advantage of the offer of a chef for the evening. Carl did us proud and served up a top quality three course meal. We would strongly recommend this as an option, particularly if staying with young children.
We loved our weekend at 'The River House' and strongly recommend it if you're looking for comfort, style and convenience on your next visit to Chester.

"What a great property"
The River House was delighful, decorated to a very high standard and had everything you couldneed during a weekend away. We visited in December and the added touch of the Christmas decorations made it feel just like home from home. The location of the house so close to the centre of Chester is also a great bonus as you can park the car at the start of your holiday and explore the city without the need to find a parking space.
