About the home

The villa, although near to the local town, is quiet and secluded, and ideal for a restful break. The private pool, with shallow-end step entry, is ideal for children. Direct off the living room is a spacious balcony with sea views, a perfect spot for outside dining and relaxing over a cool drink.

There are four double bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms, a very well-equipped kitchen, a daily maid service and use of a tennis court. Great for families, with plenty to do and see in the surrounding area, sandy beaches, golf courses, cliff-top walks and varied restaurants. Alternatively, just relax by the pool and 'chill out'.

The Algarve / Central Algarve region

The Algarve is a beautiful part of Portugal with plenty to do and see for those wanting an active holiday. It is also ideal for those seeking a total rest under blue skies in the sun. The 200 km long southern Algarve coastline is varied and offers a wide selection of sandy beaches and intimate coves dotted between attractive towns and fishing villages, while the west coast is wilder with crashing Atlantic waves providing excellent windsurfing from long golden beaches.

A trip to the historic lighthouse at Cape St Vincent, the most south westerly point in Europe, followed by a leisurely lunch at a beach restaurant, is a great way to spend a day. Also popular is a drive up into the forested mountains around Monchique to experience some local culture and cuisine, and to take in some magnificent scenery in the cooler mountain air. There are lovely walks both along the coast and inland, and many well-groomed golf courses to test all ability levels. Other readily available activities include water sports, tennis, horse riding, water parks and the famous Zoo Marine.

Markets abound, small and large, where you can stock up on fresh produce and browse at your leisure, that at Loule (which also has a gypsy market) on Saturday being the best known. Pottery and ceramics are a noteworthy regional craft. There really is something for everyone in this wonderful part of Portugal, but do spend some time enjoying the tranquillity of this lovely villa and relaxing by its private pool.

The Carvoeiro / Monte Carvoeiro area

Carvoeiro is a traditional Portuguese fishing village that has developed into a popular holiday destination. It has lost little of its original charm, and has a small sandy beach backed by cafes and restaurants and surrounded by colourful sand and limestone cliffs. In and around Carvoeiro are some fine beaches, golf courses, restaurants and well-stocked supermarkets, and the welcoming locals will cater for your every need and help you to get the most out of your holiday.

Just a few km south of the Algarve motorway and only 45 minutes from Faro airport, Carvoeiro also lies conveniently close to the town and harbour of Portimao, an excellent shopping centre with attractive pedestrian precincts and riverside restaurants. The nearest two18 hole championship golf courses (Pinta and Gramacho) are only a 5 minutes drive from the villa.

The villa is located close to the coast and about 2 km to the west of Carvoeiro, a traditional Portuguese fishing village, about 45 minutes drive west of Faro Airport. There are several car hire firms at the airport (Alamo, Autojardim, Avis, Budget, Hertz, National and others) or, alternatively, you can get a taxi to the villa at a cost of around 50 euros. It is an easy, well-signed drive from the airport to join the Algarve motorway (A 22) where you head west towards Portimao. Turn off the A 22 at the Lagoa exit and follow signs to Lagoa Sud and, as you come abeam of the town at some traffic lights on the N 125, turn right for Carvoeiro. The owner will send directions to cover the final 5 km from Lagoa.

“Wonderful Holiday” We had a really enjoyable holiday in Villa Francesca in June 2011. The beautiful villa, the garden/pool and the tennis courts next door were all ideal for our group which included our adult children and small grandchildren. The owners were kind enough to put childproof fencing on the upstairs balcony and this, together with a gate for the stairs in the villa gave us great peace of mind during our holiday. We played some golf on the nearby courses and the charming village of Carvoiero with plenty of excellent restaurants was just a few kilometres away. We would heartily recommend Villa Francesca to any family group and we hope to stay there again in the future.

“The Beautiful Villa Francesca” Villa Francesca felt more like a second home than a rental property. There was a wonderful feeling of homeliness about it. The standard of the accommodation was good and we enjoyed the spaciousness of the rooms. We were a party of 8 ranging in ages from 6 to 80 and everyone had a wonderful time. For my parents both in their 80's there was more than enough space to disappear to away from the children yet without feeling the need to temper the children's enjoyment of the pool and garden (both of which were beautifully kept). We would all return to this villa in a heartbeat. The owners too were very kind and welcoming in email correspondence before and after we arrived with great recommendations for beaches and restaurants. The location was a perfect balance in terms of distance to a variety of different beaches and restaurants whilst at the same time the villa itself was very private and tucked away from the buzz of the town. The local manager was helpful and accommodating. We really did love this holiday and would have no hesitation in recommending it. We hope to return to Villa Francesca ourselves on day soon.

We have visited the Algarve for the last 11 years and this is by far the best equipped villa we have stayed in. We have all had a very comfortable stay; the holiday has been wonderful - sad to be leaving. Massey family (August 2009).

We have come to Carvoeiro for 6 weeks each year for the past 5 years and have stayed in some lovely villas, but Villa Francesca is more like staying in a home than a holiday rental. Our girls loved the pool. Esmeralda, the maid, was very friendly and helpful. Sellens family (May 2011).

What an amazing place to 'chill out'.The villa is so well equipped that it felt like staying home from home. Children loved the pool and couldn't be torn away. Thank you very much to the maid for keeping the house so tidy. Weddle family (August 2010).
