The Algarve region
The Algarve is a beautiful part of Portugal with plenty to do and see for those wanting an active holiday. It is also ideal for those seeking rest and relaxation under clear blue skies.
The 200 km long southern Algarve coastline is varied and offers a wide selection of sandy beaches and intimate coves dotted between attractive towns and fishing villages, while the west coast is wilder with crashing Atlantic waves providing excellent windsurfing from long golden beaches.
A trip to the historic lighthouse at Cape St Vincent, the most south westerly point in Europe, followed by a leisurely lunch at a beach restaurant, is a great way to spend a day. Also popular is a drive up into the forested mountains around Monchique to experience some local culture and cuisine, and to take in some magnificent scenery in the cooler mountain air.
There are lovely walks both along the coast and inland, and many well-groomed golf courses to test all ability levels. Other readily available activities include water sports, tennis, horse riding, water parks and the famous Zoo Marine.
Monte Carvoeiro has established itself as one of the most beautiful villages along the entire Algarve coastline and offers superb, family friendly accommodation with lots of on-site facilities for guests to enjoy.
The resort is conveniently located on the cliff tops above the former fishing village of Carvoeiro which boasts an attractive beach and an abundance of restaurants, bars and shops. There are many other wonderful beaches all within a few minutes walk. It is also within easy reach of many excellent golf courses including the Carvoeiro Golf Resort with its two full 18 hole courses and a purpose built David Leadbetter Golf Academy. For those golfers who want something a little more challenging the Oceanico Faldo and O'Connor courses at Amendoeira Golf Resort are 15minutes drive.
The immediate coastline consists of spectacular cliffs, caves and many beautiful beaches you have to see to believe, all washed by the clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The Algarve lays claim to more hours of sunshine than any other place in Europe and also the most unpolluted climate.

Beautiful villa in a prime location. The photos do not do it justice. Spacious and well stocked this villa is ideal for large families or 2 families/ larger parties. It has great outdoor space, plenty of seating, sunbeds and umbrellas and a lovely private pool. There is access to Monte Carvoeiro facilities although we never used them. It is situated In a prime location close to the beach, ice cream shop and restaurant hill. The restaurants in monte carvoeiro are a stones throw away. You can hear activities in the square but it's not too noisy. Access is via a few steps so while Iit was not ideal for pushchairs it didn't cause any problems. We would definitely stay here again.

"Chilled out stay"
Just back from Casa Monte in Carvoeiro where I was on holiday with my parents, fiancee, brother and his wife and kids. We had an awesome holiday, helped by the weather but also the location of Casa Monte. We were able to walk two minutes to several restaurants which made last minute dinner plans easy and some of them had wi-fi that you could use during the day. Then went down into town a couple of nights and there are loads more places to eat & drink to choose from. The kids, who are four, loved the pool and so did my brother because with it being totally enclosed he could relax a bit more. The villa is spotless with loads of open space and it was easy to get keys and check in and out. We rented golf clubs from Clubs To Hire at the airport and also managed to play the new Faldo and O'Connor course just 20 mins away. The O'Connor course is brilliant and the Faldo course is very good, although there are 4 holes on the back nine which I wasn't sure about. Carvoeiro is simple to get to, about 45 mins from airport, and I found it cheaper to eat and drink in than Villamoura and a welcome change to some of the stag and hen nights. All in all, I think i'll be back.
