Torbay is a superb holiday destination for couples and families alike, but Brixham is often referred to as the jewel in the crown. Staying at Moorings Reach you’ll find a wide selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants right on your doorstep. The nearest beach is only a few minutes easy stroll away, but if you wish to walk a little further or take the car – you’ll find coves and beaches a plenty in the near vicinity.
Ten minutes’ walk away is Shoalstone open air swimming pool (open seasonally, free admission). The apartment is situated right on the famous South West Coast Path trail, so pack your walking boots if you feel like a proper hike. In summer you can take a ferry from the harbour to Torquay or Paignton, or sit back and enjoy a pleasure cruise to Dartmouth, further afield. Daily fishing trips also leave from the pier opposite the apartment, or perhaps have a go at hand-lining over the promenade wall just outside your front door. There is so much to do in and around the area, including two National Trust properties within a 15 minute drive. Why not try a ‘round robin’ steam train and boat trip to historic Dartmouth, or if open spaces are more to your liking, visit nearby Dartmoor – the land of myths and legends, but don't forget to stop and try a Devon cream tea on the way home, whichever trip you choose! Torbay has so many places to visit, all within easy reach; Paignton Zoo, Cockington Village, and Kent’s Cavern to name but a few. For slides and zip-lines, look out for Woodlands Adventure Park, or the River Dart Country Park - suitable for kids aged 0 - 90. Brixham also has a busy events schedule all of it’s own. The Pirate Festival, ah-argh, takes place in May, while the international Trawler Race is held every June. Fishstock food and music festival is also held annually, but you'll receive a warm welcome at any time of year. For evening entertainment, many local pubs feature regular live music all year round.
