Description from owner

Description

Henrys Cottage is a lovely welcoming traditional fishermans cottage, ideal for both families and couples, sleeping 4.

Open fires and a suntrap garden makes it suitable all year round. Ideally situated in the beautiful & friendly seaside village of Winterton on Sea, ideal for a beach holiday and exploring the broads. Bed linen and towels provided. Free WiFi included.

Henry's is a former fisherman's cottage that dates back approximately 150 years with comfortable lounge, fabulous newly fitted kitchen dining room seating 4, downstairs shower room and two double bedrooms, with drawers, wardrobe or hanging space. (one also has a cot bed suitable for a small child). As an old cottage I have tried to remain sympathetic to it's rustic character and charm, allowing you to enjoy it's relax and unwind in pleasant surroundings.

Outside there is parking for two cars and pleasant gardens both front and back, a decking area with garden furniture to enjoy

Outside there is parking for two cars and pleasant gardens both front and back, a decking area with garden furniture to enjoy the first cup of tea of the day, a brick built barbecue and sun loungers available for the most relaxing of days.

Situated in the heart of the village there is always someone to talk to, and you're never far from anywhere, in addition to the pubs and shops there is an excellent children's playground for a change from the beach, while on the edge of the village is a beautiful church dating back to the 1500's and seals often seen on the beach and playing in the sea, meaning that there is always something to do or somewhere to visit

PLEASE NOTE due to the design of the cottage there are several small internal steps and the staircase is wooden, quite steep and turns, and therefore not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Please ask if you have any concerns before booking.

Sorry no pets or smoking allowed.

Location description from owner

The East Anglia region

Winterton-on-Sea is a small, quiet and historic fishing village on the east coast of Norfolk on the edge of the broads, and is approximately 8 miles north of Great Yarmouth.

Miles of unspoiled sand dunes and beautiful beaches make it ideal for relaxing seaside holidays. For those looking for a bit more activity the dunes nature reserve is within an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (SSSI and SAC), including natterjack toads and adders, and is ideal for bird watching and walkers. What's more an large seal colony has made it's home just north of Winterton, and are a delight to visit.

Winterton also provides easy access to the broads with numerous place locally to hire boats or exploring the broads.

And if you fancy a change of pace Great Yarmouth is only 20 mins away with all the bright lights and entertainment you'd expect from a large traditional seaside town with lots of varied activities to keep the whole family entertained.

Winterton-on-Sea

Norfolk is one of Englands lesser know Gems, A beautiful and varied landscape, with miles of unspoilt beaches and Dunes. Norwich is a delightful city that is only 30 minutes away by car and is well worth a visit.

The broads are right on your doorstep and you can easily organise a day trip to see the area from a different prospective.

Deep sea fishing is available close by as are a number of National Trust properties.

Interaction with guest

Although I'm not lucky enough to live in the village full time, I can generally be reached by mobile or email, and happy to answer any queries, prior to your stay I will send you extensive notes of how to get there, where to get the key and a bit about the cottage and surrounding area, and if you want any suggestions about what to do with you time, I'm happy to help. Inside the cottage, there are a range of leaflets for local attractions, and maps and suggested walks for you to use during your stay.

Reviewed 3 Oct 2016

super little cottage, Winterton is a lovely place to visit, great beach and café, drive 5 miles down the road to the seal colony, fantastic to see all the seals lying on the beach. Henrys cottage is in a perfect position, we both had a great relaxing time. everything you need in the cottage, would certainly stay again, thanks Marie
